Are you-

  1. Redundant
  2. On furlough/flexi-furlough
  3. Kept your hours and job as it was before the pandemic

Just interested to see. I was made redundant last year. So was DD and a couple of other family members and friends. Been looking for several months and none of us been successful yet but some have had interviews.

OP posts:

  1. Haven't worked my full hours since April last year but due to be back on full hours by the end of this month (and I can't wait).
I only know of one person who has been made redundant and he skipped away with a great package!
JaquelineBeanstalk · 05/04/2021 16:04

Me, 3. (civil service) WFH 1 or 2 days per week, but many of us have to come into the office each day.

DH was furloughed for a month, but his area is classed as essential, so he's a 3 since then. Job more affected by brexit, and possibly at risk from that front.

DD freelancer. Lost all her contracts, but has steadily found work that CAN be done safely, and the second half of her year wasn't bad (included working with Kylie)

DS furloughed all year but has just recently taken a job in a totally different field, at a huge salary drop, but it's an area he wants to work in.

  1. NHS so even though we've been manically busy I am grateful to have a job and pension. I'm so worried about everyone who has lost their jobs. My DS and DiL have only just hung on by their finger tips.
Chickychickydodah · 05/04/2021 16:08

Not working. Looking for part time work.

Oldsu · 05/04/2021 16:11

Me 3 and have had a 10% pay rise
DH off furlough from tomorrow and has already been told he will get a 7% pay rise

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives · 05/04/2021 16:13
  1. Was WFH already, everyone in my small company does. Feel very fortunate, my boss and colleagues couldn’t have been more supportive of having to juggle work and DD5 who was still at nursery in the early part of last year and then started school in August.
dottiedaisee · 05/04/2021 16:16

On flexi furlough...really worried that I might be made redundant! Work as a registered nurse !

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 05/04/2021 16:17
  1. However I can now work mainly from home, indefinitely.

Only one friend was made redundant. Another is certain their job is going to go imminently but its unrelated to Covid.

BiL was furloughed but only for one month.

I know a couple of people who in my opinion abused furlough. One who owned a company which sold mainly online, a product unaffected by Covid, who furloughed basically all their staff to save money, and a friend who changed maternity plans to "return to work" 6 months earlier knowing that she would be on furlough rather than SMP.

Woeismethischristmas · 05/04/2021 16:18

I have a new job, the job market is picking up so hang in there.

maddening · 05/04/2021 16:19

3

Know of 2 people who were furloughed but no one who has been made refined any

PotteringAlong · 05/04/2021 16:19

Redundant - don’t know why it auto corrected to refined any!

SamW98 · 05/04/2021 16:20

1 Made redundant a month before the first lockdown. After a 25 career in financial industry and having been a manager for 12 year, I applied for well over 100 jobs and only got a 3 month temp job in all that time.

Thankfully I got a reasonable settlement and I've cashed in some savings and decided to retrain in a totally different field

GintyMcGinty · 05/04/2021 16:20
  1. Kept your hours - yes

but not "job as it was before the pandemic". I have been working from home since March 2020. We have also become very flexible and reduced to 4 days per week during lockdowns (fully paid) and can work any pattern of hours we want as long as we continue to deliver.

maddening · 05/04/2021 16:20

I don't personally know anyone who has been made redundant, a couple furloughed but back in now.

Theelderscrolls · 05/04/2021 16:20

3 for me and DP. A few of my friends are on furlough, but fortunately no job losses (yet).

ImInStealthMode · 05/04/2021 16:21
  1. Kept my job, never been furloughed, but had a 33% reduction in hours and salary through most of last year. Hours have gone up a bit now but still not back to FT.
QuidditchQueen · 05/04/2021 16:22
  1. Teacher so luckily have job security.
Feel very anxious about young people. My don left Uni last year and took a lot of jobhunting to get the permanent he now has.
Contactlesslenses · 05/04/2021 16:22
  1. Worked from home for a year now, but busier than ever. Covid has indirectly increased our workload in my division of the company. Due a pay rise and promotion in May but other parts of the business haven’t done as well so promotions might be postponed across the company. Fair enough, I feel very lucky to have kept my job, kept busy and am well supported with WFH.
We had some redundancies in other parts of the business and some staff are on furlough still, mostly those involved in running the offices like receptionist and catering.
PyjamaFan · 05/04/2021 16:23

None of those...

I've kept my job (2 days a week supply teaching) but have lost the other random days I used to work most weeks. So probably halved my income.

Notjustamum10 · 05/04/2021 16:23
  1. Had basic salary cut by 15% in April 2020, no sign of a return to pre-COVID salary any time soon. Still flexi furlough (1 day/week) and wfh. Been through one round of redundancies, probably another looming late summer.
Icancelledthecheque · 05/04/2021 16:23

Furlough

MutteringDarkly · 05/04/2021 16:24

Busier than ever, flat out all year (company has used some furlough through the past year but is now expanding and hiring again, so hopefully the pace of my own work will settle a bit)

MeredithGreysScalpel · 05/04/2021 16:24

3 - I actually moved jobs during this last year - similar hours, better prospects.

Thefamilybusiness · 05/04/2021 16:24
  1. Hours have increased due to covid.
I work in a preschool so we now have to clean/risk fact everything once the children have gone home.

Th is 3 although now works mainly from home.
I don't know anyone who has lost their job.
