To ask about women in high heels?

Watching a programme tonight. DH says, without any comment from me, how he feels sorry for the women feeling they have to wear high heels and how uncomfortable they look.
I then ask if he finds women in high heels more attractive (despite their discomfort) than women in low heeled shoes.
He says yes.
He can't help it.
Men are born that way.
I am angry. We have 3 daughters.

Ugh I hate high heels and always have done. I'm glad they're considered dated and old fashioned now. They don't even make you look taller when you're not next to anyone else, they can make you look try too hard and totter, like Nicola sturgeon at her press briefings.

Not everyone finds heels uncomfortable. In fact, I find flats really uncomfortable. I've been dancing since I was 4 so have spent most of my life training on my tip toes. Wearing flat shoes stretches my calf muscles and it can be really uncomfortable after an hour or so. They also make me walk strangely which hurts my back.

Heels allow my to keep my posture.

I don’t dress for me so it never crosses my mind what men find attractive. I can’t walk in heels so I rarely wear them. That’s what matters to me.

So you’re a dancer that isn’t flexible enough to walk with feet flat for more than an hour?

The type of dancing I do means I have shortened calf muscles. After prolonged periods of physio I can wear certain flat shoes but not things like ballet pumps. I also really struggle walking up very steep hills. Within a few minutes my calf muscles feel like they're on fire. To compensate I end up walking with my feet turned out which can cause pain in my hips and lower back.

Even just a small wedge heel can make all the difference in terms of comfort.

My mum was very short and my sad tall so she lived in heels. She found even and inch heel made a lot of difference and had pain wearing flats. Poor thing had arthritis but still wore her heels.

This is the way our leg muscles work. This discomfort is quite common for people that usually wear non-flat shoes.

@BalaBalaBoomBoom I wasn’t comparing joggers to heels. I was saying I think his uniform is hotter. His uniform isn’t comfortable at all. But I don’t make him wear it.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 06/04/2021 22:23

I like high heels - I feel more confident in them (probably something psychological to do with being elevated or something). Plus high heel shoes are prettier

I know you arent referring to me, but I have very high foot arches and completely flat shoes give me horrendous foot cramp at the end of the day. Its fine whilst I'm wearing them but after a whole day my feet really, really hurt. Its because it goes against the natural shape of my feet.

Now, I'm not saying this means I wear stilettos (I dont) but a shoe with at least a slight heel is far better for my feet so its certainly not impossible that some people find completely flat shoes to be uncomfortable.

Nohomemadecandles · 10/04/2021 10:00

I'm quite tall and I'm not slight. In big heels, I look like I'm auditioning for Drag Race. But undoubtedly I feel more elegant in some type of heel at a wedding or event.

I stopped wearing them daily after I had kids. I can't chase a toddler in heels.
