It's for a clinical position on a children's ward. I've not interviewed in person for a long time!! Is this professional enough?

To wear this for an interview?

@youremyperson

This is quite a funny thread. I wore the dress, I got the job. No one was mortified Grin

So maybe the take home message is wear the dress, buy the shoes, apply for the job

Thanks for the advice on this thread Smile

Brilliant news. Definitely wear the dress was the right message. I hope the job goes well.
IrishMamaMia · 25/03/2021 10:17

I think the message is where what you feel comfortable in to an interview :)

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 25/03/2021 11:10

Congratulations on getting the job.

Liked the dress for what it's worth.

firsttimeoptimist · 25/03/2021 11:20

I wore similar to all my interviews. It makes you memorable and is smart (although there might be some dress envy!).

firsttimeoptimist · 25/03/2021 11:22

P.s. "memorable" was a direct quote when I got my last job. Ooh and Congratulations!

Localocal · 25/03/2021 11:37

Lovely dress, but not right for an interview.

notacooldad · 25/03/2021 11:39

Lovely dress, but not right for an interview.

Except it was!

notacooldad · 25/03/2021 11:57

OP
Did you find the dress size 'true to size' on the Little Wings factory.
I've seen a few things I wouldn't mind ordering.

BungleandGeorge · 25/03/2021 12:30

Getting the job doesn’t necessarily indicate anything about the dress. NHS interviews don’t involve much subjective opinion, which is a good thing, as long as you’re clean and smart in most circumstances it won’t make any difference either way. Even more so at the moment as people are very aware that shops are shut and people will have limited options.they want the person who will do the best job and that was you op, congratulations!

Comefromaway · 25/03/2021 12:34

I think its a bit too bright.

If my husband were interviewing you he would have to pass you onto someone else as that pattern would play havoc with his Menieres.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 12:46

maybe your husband needs to see occupational health if a high street dress triggers episodes or affects his judgement
Perhaps he needs an alternative role, away from the public if he’s so sensitised a dress.
Menieres Is exacerbated by environmental and visual cues, in the built environment not by dresses

Comefromaway · 25/03/2021 12:50

His workplace has made all the necessary adjustments.

Menieres is not just exacerbated by the built environment. Anything that is highly patterned can trigger it. there is no cure for the condition. Heavily patterned dresses and striped carpets are absolutely triggers amongst many, many other things.

Fairyliz · 25/03/2021 13:31

It’s great that you got the job which I assume is because you are highly qualified/experienced in a demanding field with few candidates.
However I still wouldn’t recommend anyone going for say a mid level admin type job to wear something like that. Yes some interviewers would like it, but I think just as many would be put off.

PaperMonster · 25/03/2021 14:07

I think that would be fine! My surgeon used to wear frocks like that when I went for my routine appointments and I always thought how amazing she looked!

HeadNorth · 25/03/2021 14:39

How does your husband's company ensure fairness in the interview process if they have to switch around interview panels between candidates on the day?
Comefromaway · 25/03/2021 14:45

He interviews students, not staff on the whole but if he was in on the interview for a new staff member (would only apply to a member of his dept as he's a HOD then someone else would just have to take over if he became ill.

ArcheryAnnie · 25/03/2021 16:10

@youremyperson

I got the job
Congratulations!

(And I've been looking at that site and wondering if I could do with any of those dresses...)

youremyperson · 25/03/2021 16:34

@notacooldad I think they're a bit big tbh. The dress has a zip back and I've never had to undo it. It just goes over my head

Not keen I must admit - even for a wedding, but then black and yellow not my thing. You may look lovely in it, of course!

In terms of interviews, it's visually very distracting. You want them to notice you and what you say, rather than what you're wearing, I would have thought.

Casiloco · 27/03/2021 08:19

Oops - didn't read the full thread, sorry.

Congratulations - you obviously have the personality and qualities to have pulled this off!!

notacooldad · 27/03/2021 09:17

youremyperson
Well I've ordered a few dresses from that site!
Roll on summer!

Mammyloveswine · 27/03/2021 09:26

Omg I'm a nursery teacher and I want so many of those dresses for work!

Think I'll get the Dino print shirt dress to wear!

Mammyloveswine · 27/03/2021 09:28

Sorry yes op I think it's lovely for an interview! I would wear mustard low heeled courts or wedges and a mustard cardigan with it.

The skirt is a line, not puffy!

I wear similar styles as I am not a trousers person and shift dresses make me look boxy,

Good luck!

BlackeyedSusan · 27/03/2021 09:29

Congratulations!

Krook · 27/03/2021 09:34

You've made the newspaper, I see, OP....

Congrats on the job!
