To ask how many men you have loved?

I realised fairly recently that I have only really ever really loved one man in a gave me heart away sense (and unfortunately that’s not the man that I am currently with and had kids with- long story 😢)

But it’s made me really think about the relationships I have had & the boys I have kissed and which ones I really had feelings for! I do seem to have history with inappropriate men too!!

Aibu to ask how many men you have loved?

Three.

First boyfriend.
Another Ex
And my current DH.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 20/03/2021 13:20

None. Never met one worth it. Met a lot of horses, dogs and sheep who absolutely were worth it though.

(Although, I should be clear, I don't mean that in a grim and disturbing manner!)

OhWhyNot · 20/03/2021 13:21

Two

Another two I thought I was in love but soon realised I wasn’t but one I still care about very much and love in a friendship way the other I feel nothing for the thought of him makes my skin crawl

First love, a terrible error of judgement and my Dh. My Dh was the most intense and thankfully the most balanced and reciprocated.

My father
My son
My first love
My first serious boyfriend
DH - my true love for 30 plus years

Oooohbehave · 20/03/2021 13:24
  1. First boyfriend, Ex who broke my heart and who I thought I'd never get over and DH.
crystalcherry87 · 20/03/2021 13:27

One, my husband. In the past I've thought there was 1 other that I loved but looking back I don't think I did as it was not as intense as I feel for my DH and after we split I was over him almost immediately. But love is just a feeling and if I thought I did, maybe I did but just in a different way.

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 20/03/2021 13:28

@DiseasesOfTheSheep well put about the nature of love.

RaginSpice · 20/03/2021 13:31
  1. First and last were incredible men, we just wanted different things. Two in the middle were utter bastards.

5 my lucky number hopefully...

I have claimed to have loved more but, honestly, it was just my exh. He treated me like shit after we had kids, abused me, cheated on me and we are absolutely better to not have him in our lives anymore but he is truly the only man I have loved.
I’ve had 2 relationships since my divorce and I don’t think I can allow myself to feel much for men anymore

Givemeabreak88 · 20/03/2021 13:33

Only one

Ikora · 20/03/2021 13:39

One and that’s DH I thought I was in love with my first BF but now I know the real deal realise I wasn’t.

x2boys · 20/03/2021 13:43

Just one my DH,I have certainly been infatuated with a few and maybe thought I loved one or two ,but nothing to how I feel about DH.

DrSbaitso · 20/03/2021 13:45

Two. I'm married to the better one. There won't be another.

matronyoshka · 20/03/2021 13:45

Two - the love I feel for my husband is far deeper and more intense than the first love, but the first love was definitely love too.

There was another I was convinced I'd fallen in love with incredibly quickly - it was a full-on love bombing, he told me he loved me 2 days after we first met (and I reciprocated, fully meaning it), within a month I was noticing some major red flags and wanted to end things. It took me a further 3 months to actually get away from him, as it turned out he was quite a scary volatile guy. Looking back on more than ten years later it I still cringe - my friends and family clearly disliked him from the moment they met him and I was completely under his spell almost immediately. I really thought it was this instantaneous, love at first sight, soulmates, predestined thing.

VienneseWhirligig · 20/03/2021 13:46

Two. One was totally undeserving and I'm not sure if it was love or Stockholm Syndrome. The second was my amazing late DH. There won't be anyone else.

IEat · 20/03/2021 13:47

One, so beautiful, took me years to get over him

Ladyofmainlyleisure · 20/03/2021 13:48
  1. All different sorts of love...... some very dysfunctional.
Current is the final one. Not the most passionate love, but the most comfortable. :)
Shopliftersoftheworldunite · 20/03/2021 13:48

1! I thought I’d been in love before but now I realise I absolutely hadn’t.

My partner is marvellous and makes everyone else I thought I’d loved look pathetic.

Ducksarenotmyfriends · 20/03/2021 13:51

4 lovely men, wonderful relationships. I ended the previous 3 for various reasons, all very amicable, still in touch with 2 of them (not regularly). I've been very, very lucky with love.

Lastfreakinglegs · 20/03/2021 13:53
  1. All in different ways.
minniemoocher · 20/03/2021 13:53

2, exh and dp (current)

Colouringaddict · 20/03/2021 13:54

I’ve had 3 LTR, thought I loved the first 2, not even close now I compare it to how I feel about DH. Just as well really because the other 2 were total arseholes!
