To not want to take OH speed awareness course?

freeus · 19/03/2021 19:10

Oh has been caught speeding, he's already done a speed awareness course 2 years ago.
he's complaining that the insurance is going to up now. I said I don't want to take the wrath for him it's not my problem!

AIBU?
Apparently I've got no loyalty to him and I'm not backing him up.

Not to mention it's illegal

So he's broken the law and now wants you to do the same so he doesn't have to face the consequences. Speeding really pisses me off - so many people don't care who they endanger when they drive. I hope his insurance goes sky high!

badacorn · 19/03/2021 19:59

He shouldn’t be asking you to do that for him.

LadyCatStark · 19/03/2021 19:59

Someone I know went to prison for doing this. Well he got the ticket and his business partner too the wrap for it. Someone reported them and the 2 men both went to jail and the speeders wife had to wear an electronic tag! The men were in jail over Christmas and all had kids. All for a bloody speeding fine!

wandawombat · 19/03/2021 19:59

@Iwant2move

Please don’t do it. You will both be sent to prison.
Yep, this, you really don't want to do the course for him.
littlepattilou · 19/03/2021 19:59

@freeus He has asked you to pretend you were driving.

WOW! Shock

You say NO obviously!

This. ^ It's a pretty serious offence!

Oooh, having said that, how come the speeder's wife had to wear a tag?Was she in the car, and/or did she lie for them?
wandawombat · 19/03/2021 20:01

His insurance may go up but that's really his problem, not yours, so I don't know why he's blaming you.

BertiesShoes · 19/03/2021 20:01

You can do a second SA course after 2 years, so it depends exactly when he did his last one. The police system will automatically offer him one if sufficient time has elapsed, if not 3 pts and fine.

But as a previous person said, insurance is not affected much by 3 points, so it shouldn’t go up too much.

BertiesShoes · 19/03/2021 20:02

Oops.

Whatever you do, don’t say you were driving

viques · 19/03/2021 20:03

Goodness, what very bad luck that the very first time he goes over the speed limit after taking his speed awareness course two years ago he gets caught again. Ha ha ha.

OP , you know he has carried on speeding for the past two years and has been lucky to get away without an accident or getting caught. but now he has got caught.

You know he’s a danger on the road, he hasn’t learned that simple fact yet.

How would you feel if you took the course for him and he then caused an accident and injured or killed someone.

His problem, his responsibility.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 19/03/2021 20:05

@bertiesshoes

No, it's 3 years:

Who can be offered a place on a speed awareness course?
you haven't attended a speed awareness course in the past three years.
the speed you were doing is within the acceptable range. This is typically between speed limit + 10% + 2mph and speed limit + 10% + 9mph (for example, between 35 - 42mph in a 30mph zone)

He must think he's very special.

Anniegetyourgun · 19/03/2021 20:07

You're not loyal? Say rather, you're not stupid. He, on the other hand...

His comments about reporting crime are also very concerning. I hope he isn't passing on any of this ghastly anti-social attitude on to his/your DC.

ThatchersCold · 19/03/2021 20:07

My ex went to court for speeding. I saw the pitot that the speed camera had taken, it was very clear and very obvious it was him. Unless you look uncannily like your partner I certainly wouldn’t do it, for a multitude of other reasons too.

purplecorkheart · 19/03/2021 20:07

Glad you are standing your ground op. We are all here if you need a hand hold. Your husband is a dick. Stay strong

Hankunamatata · 19/03/2021 20:08

How would u take it for him. The company o did it with had photo of my driving license and it was by zoom so they knew what I looked like and had to have camera and microphone on the whole time

Umbivalent · 19/03/2021 20:09

@freeus

Yes 2 dc's i'm not doing it I've already said, he's been saying your the type of woman to go to the police if you see someone committing a crime and I've said yeah what's wrong with that?
Jesus.
Mintjulia · 19/03/2021 20:09

Or you could just report him to the police for trying to pressurise you. Attempting to pervert the course of justice is also a crime.

Well that tells you everything you need to know about his character doesn’t it. And these are the values he will be passing on to your children! You have a bigger problem than just speeding offences.

He wants OP to break the law and say she was driving.
Rhiannon13 · 19/03/2021 20:11

he's saying I'm not loyal and I'm going to make our bills go up.

No, he has. What a prick.

WallaceinAnderland · 19/03/2021 20:12
@VeniVidiWeeWee
No he asked me to pretend I was driving so I can do a speed awareness course because I've never done one, I didn't word it very well
Tell him you need to keep it for when you get caught speeding. He can't argue with that.

Cam2020 · 19/03/2021 20:13

He should take it as a hint that he needs to drive more carefully, or perhaps not at all. He sounds like the sort of selfish arsehole that could kill someone through careless driving.

GreenBalaclava · 19/03/2021 20:14

What a dickhead. Definitely don't take the course for him OP.
