Posting for traffic

I usually go to bed between 1-2am and now I'm thinking this isn't normal after reading many threads where people are going to bed much earlier... the other day I read a thread where op was worried for her adult daughter having to work til 10pm, both my mil and Dm go to bed at 9 ish, my sil is also in bed by 9...

So what time do you go to bed usually?

OP posts:
Branleuse · 07/03/2021 20:00

usually anytime between 10pm and 12.30am.

PattyPan · 07/03/2021 20:01

Usually try to be in bed around 10.30-11pm. Before the pandemic I got up at 5.50 to get the 6.30 train so had to go to bed by 10. Since lockdown it’s crept later but I do prefer to go to bed earlier and get up earlier.

Around 1am, get up at 8.30, i just get no time to myself with everyone at home.

Tootsey11 · 07/03/2021 20:02

Bed around 10.30-11pm. Asleep within minutes. Up at 7.30. Always wrecked.

Floralnomad · 07/03/2021 20:02

I don’t think age is relevant , I’m mid 50s , I’ve never needed much sleep .

Reinventinganna · 07/03/2021 20:02

10 at the latest but I’m awake at 5 and out of the house 6am-8:30pm.

I also work nights regularly and have the same routine but backwards. Home by 08:30 sleep from 09:30-4:00 and out by 6pm.

On days off I tend to keep the same routine.

I love sleeping.

Nacreous · 07/03/2021 20:02

In bed pre-covid between 9:30 and 10:30 PM, maybe 11-12 on a weekend if I'd gone out or had people over. Up at 6-7:30 depending on work and how knackered I was.

Now I am often in bed by 8:30 and asleep by 9:30 - my job is v stressful currently and that means I sleep worse but also need more sleep. There's also nothing to be out for so I'm not kept up by my social life.

Bloodybridget · 07/03/2021 20:05

Usually go upstairs to bed at 10 or soon after, but don't often turn the light off before 11 or later. I'm always awake in the night too. Up any time from 6.

EileenGC · 07/03/2021 20:05

I aim for 10:30pm, in reality 11-11:30. More like midnight/1am on the nights I don’t finish work before 11pm. Up between 6:30-8:30am, again depends on work schedule.

I can function on 6-7 hours if needs be, but ideally I need a minimum of 8, with one of them before midnight. I feel so much better and I’m so much more productive when I manage to grab some sleep before midnight.

pilates · 07/03/2021 20:05

About 10ish and up at 6. I feel good on 8 hours sleep.

LindaEllen · 07/03/2021 20:05

@JayAlfredPrufrock

What are you doing at that time of night?
What does anyone do at any time? I watch TV, read, listen to music, chat to friends (I have plenty who are up at that time), housework, work for my actual job .. loads of things you can do! Why shouldn't you do things just because of the way the clock hands point?
33goingon64 · 07/03/2021 20:06

I sleep naturally 11-7. DH likes to be in bed earlier, when he returns to commuting he'll be back to demanding bedtime by 10pm which I struggle with.

sweetnessnfight · 07/03/2021 20:06

I'm in bed now and it's just turned 8, I'll watch tv for an hour then be asleep

Chicchicchicchiclana · 07/03/2021 20:07

10pm at the earliest, 12-12.30 at the latest.

sociallydistained · 07/03/2021 20:07

Mine would be 1-2am also if I didn’t have to be so early for work. It’s usually 10-11 and that’s forced. When I don’t have work I naturally fall into the 1-2am rhythm waking about 8. But having to be up by 6.30 I really can’t cope with that little sleep during the working day.

missbridgerton · 07/03/2021 20:07

Most nights I'm asleep by 10pm. DH has got restless legs and I need to be in a fairly deep sleep when he comes to bed around midnight. He then starts to do the Riverdance at 6am so that's when I concede defeat and get up.

I'd love to go to bed when I'm ready to for once Hmm

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 07/03/2021 20:07

We go up and get ready for bed about 8.30pm then watch TV or read for an hour then go to sleep about 10ish.

Notashandyta · 07/03/2021 20:08

Between 12 and 1am usually.

Up at half 8/ 9

wineandsunshine · 07/03/2021 20:10

I can't believe how late some people go to bed!

I'm in bed by 9-9.30pm and up by 5.45am (full time teacher with four boys so need my sleep!).

PickAChew · 07/03/2021 20:10

Usually after midnight, when I've chased Ds1 to bed. We're both night owls.

I'm up between 7 and 8, usually.

needadvice54321 · 07/03/2021 20:10

Usually 10.30/11 with the plan to be asleep by midnight - up at about 7.

I haven't been sleeping so well recently so I've started going up about 9/9.30 in the hope I'll get off a bit earlier than midnight so if my sleep is broken then at least I've had longer broken sleep

TheFuckingDogs · 07/03/2021 20:11

Yep like to get into bed 8:30 (already here tonight!) then phone/reading for half an hour then listen to an audio book about 9, asleep by 10 latest.
Up 6am

Peace43 · 07/03/2021 20:12

Between 8pm and 11pm. 8 if I’m feeling really really tired but normally 10pm. I’m up at about 7am 6 days a week and about 8 on Sunday morning. I walk the dog for 40-60 minutes twice a day and work a full-time highly pressured job from home. I am also single parent to a delightful 10 year old daughter.

SpnBaby1967 · 07/03/2021 20:13

I would be in bed by 7PM if I could get away with it Grin

Usually we go up around 9PM. DH has a very early start so he's usually out like a light. I'll read to anywhere from 9.30pm to 11pm. I'm up at 7am ish.

But I'm permanently tired. The only time I felt I was getting enough sleep was when I had covid and could sleep for 14 hours solid.

I need 9 hours to feel half decent.

TheSoapyFrog · 07/03/2021 20:14

Usually between midnight and 1 am and then up between 6 and 7.
Kids go to bed at 7. Autistic child will still be up around 10 or 11. It takes me until 9 or 10 to get night chores done. Then I like to sit and enjoy time by myself until I can't stay awake any longer.
