To think DH is being a dick with the pram?

Ffs.

Dd 4 months. Sod all to do at weekends other than go for walks.

We have a baby carrier but DH is obsessed with the pram and insists on putting the poor child in it trudging through thick mud, clambering up mountains and hills and clattering over bumpy gravelly roads.

My nice pram is covered in mud and people look at us like we are batshit.

AIBU?

YANBU

OP,

If you didn't want posters commenting & only wanted validation then why post on AIBU? The answers will be either YABU or YANBU & with comments. Why do you need validation when you have decided you are right? You seem to have anger & control issues from the tone of your posts. I feel a bit sorry for you...not because of the pram v sling debate. You don't want a solution, you just want to be right & nasty to anyone who comments otherwise.

Grow up, have a proper conversation with your DH & sort it out.

I didn't use the sling much and preferred the buggy for my dc. We had a bugaboo bee which was fab, compact and v easy to push even with one hand. Both dc were happy in the buggy.

It sounds like it's the mud annoying you, in which case definitely ask dh to clean it!

"Go on, find me where I asked for advice."

Erm..in AIBU? Grin

You're very aggressive towards anyone who disagrees OP. And your husband is entitled to his thoughts, many here agree with him.

I wouldn't be taking a newborn over slippy and rough terrain in a sling either but god forbid anyone dares to have that as an opinion. It's your way or the highway it seems

flower11 · 03/03/2021 02:03

People seem to be being overly harsh and clearly have no idea of what rural living and rough terrain really is. Lots of paths near us are completely unsuitable for buggies of any type including all terrain. Our coastal paths are uneven , steep and often narrow. If I saw someone on one with a buggy I would look and raise eyebrows.

If op is going on walks in an area like this then she is being completely reasonable and dh is being an idiot.

Reinventinganna · 03/03/2021 02:33

‘DH does not use the pram in the week, that is me. Therefore it is either down to me to clean it or my car that gets covered in half the contents of every bog from mountain and moorland’

You could just use the sling?

Pulledamonica · 03/03/2021 02:37

The clue would be in the name of the board - it's called am I being unreasonable? With a question mark. It's not a rhetorical question. You're being told you're unreasonable. Get over it.

Yes, I’m sure you and the OP are the only ones who live in areas like that...

None of the rest of us have a clue... Couldn’t possibly live in similar areas and just have a different opinion at all.

Mostlylurkingiam · 03/03/2021 05:14

Bah ha ha OP you are getting very worked up! From all the posts it seems the issue seems to be your partner likes hill walking/hiking and you hate it (and don't seem to like him very much). Maybe actually communicate with him rather than spending your energy attacking everyone on here!

Tumbleweed101 · 03/03/2021 06:12

Do you think he’d be more confident with a back carrier when she’s a little older? You wear them like backpacks so perhaps look less alarming than baby in the front ones?

Personally we used carriers and back carriers and found them much easier on walks through rough terrain.

spaceghetto · 03/03/2021 06:40

Sorry op, no advice but on a recent muddy hill walk we saw a woman with a really cool looking slimline pram... that had her dog in it! She had the biggest smile on her face!

sashh · 03/03/2021 06:42

Would he use a fancy backpack, designed to hike with a baby type sling?

That's what my brother used and as well as being used for hiking it gives the baby a better view. Oh and on one occasion became the centre of attention for Japanese tourists.

Dustyhedge · 03/03/2021 08:53

Could you look at different walks from time to time. Does it always have to be a bog or mountain hike? You might need to change things up a bit when the baby gets a bit older anyway. I found my second loved the sling up until about 12m but hated it after that we’re in an annoying phase with her at just 2 where she sometimes wants to walk but then gets tired and wants a rest, a carry, to stare intently at a flower etc . She’s learning to ride a balance bike now but it does mean we pick different routes to suit her needs. If we want to go anywhere faster than a snail, buggy is needed. If just with the 4 year old, we can do much more interesting walks.

MiddlesexGirl · 04/03/2021 14:18

Can you not just take the baby and put them in your sling. DH would look a bit of a dick trying to wrestle baby from you.
