AIBU to think that Prince Harry is coming across as the most tone deaf and hypocritical member of the RF right now?

Yes the guy lost his mother in a tragic way at a young age. (So have many) Yes he was forced out into the public eye in the middle of grief (which was horrific at the time and worse on reflection) BUT he is now an adult man with a family and access to life of extreme privilege yet he cannot seem to realise that him publically complaining about his lot in life and telling the rest of us how to behave is distasteful. Also, the petulant way he seems to communicate with the media is just undelining his immaturity and lack of awareness. By which I mean, the potshots in statements and rapping with James Corden and his pathetic man of the people schtick. If you want to be Hazzer give up your title and STFU!

AIBU?

@PrelovedWithValue

If you want to be Hazzer give up your title and STFU!

What I don't understand is why someone that clearly has little time for him, is actively watching things about him

If you want him to STFU, the easiest way is to not give him an audience. It's very easy to do. I hadn't heard of the James Corden thing until I read this thread - and even now I know about it, I have no plan to search it out let alone watch it.

It's almost like some people are looking for things to get annoyed about. And I don't really understand why.

The thought process appears to be-'I hate Prince Harry and his wife and everything they do and say, but I'll just give this James Corden YouTube thing a watch so I can hate them even more' Confused
MuddleMoo · 26/02/2021 10:12

@Sparklingbrook ah yes I don't like that quiz either. Don't mind Gordon. But I don't sit there watching the quiz going Arghhh!!!! I just find something else.

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 10:13

It's difficult when he's all over the news all the time. You can't avoid him.

You absolutely can. I find it very interesting that the people must committed to bashing him, click on every story about him, to give themselves something to be riled about.

If you don’t want to give him the oxygen of publicity, then don’t click and the algorithms will adapt accordingly.

If he’s on TV, change the channel or go and make a cup of tea.

Mumdiva99 · 26/02/2021 10:13

I was talking to a friend about PH this week. He, once again, bought up the issue of his parentage. If that is true then you can very much understand how it would impact him. Whilst I don't really care one way or another about that.....he was born into royalty and has served his time to warrant a valid place IMHO. But the pressure he must face because of this. Let him be. Watch or don't watch, read or don't read....just like all the Towie people mentioned above - just ignore if you don't like what they do.

OldRailer · 26/02/2021 10:13

Another option to help blood pressure is each time he is forced on your attention by the media have a smile at him and his privacy seeking ways, bless him!

Works for me.

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 10:13

Exactly. These people are actively looking for things to get annoyed about.

I watched a bit and joined in a thread on here where we were all going 'WTF' in unison. I didn't understand the rules and haven't watched since. Grin

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 10:14

and his privacy seeking ways

To be clear, he never said he wanted to seek privacy.

MuddleMoo · 26/02/2021 10:14

I'm not sure what the rules are! It was a bit confusing.

DdraigGoch · 26/02/2021 10:15

If he annoys you so much just don't watch/read anything about him, I personally wish him and his family well
You might as well say "don't watch/read anything about Coronavirus". The subject is unavoidable, you can't scroll down a news website without the story coming up numerous times.

turnitonagain · 26/02/2021 10:15

Isn’t he no longer a member of the Royal Family? Or at least RF Plc Hmm

The most tone deaf member is the one who spent years palling around with trafficked teenagers and a convicted paedophile. The second most tone deaf are a tie among those who protected him.

He described it as 'stepping back' on the bus. Not disappearing completely. Understandable.

That wonky thingy Confused and the ultra annoying contestants. Hmm

It really isn’t. My husband couldn’t tell you the first thing about Harry because he genuinely couldn’t care less. Those who don’t click on the stories, don’t get them promoted in their feeds.

Yes but it's your choice to continue reading once you've seen the headline, and it's pretty clear what the story is about. It's very easy to scroll past, change the channel, turn the TV/radio off
Sn0tnose · 26/02/2021 10:19

I feel really sorry for him. From the day he was born he’s had to deal with levels of intrusion that are inconceivable for the rest of us. His education, his girlfriends, his friends, his relationship with his brother, his silly mistakes, his grief, have all been scrutinised, debated and criticised in front of the whole country. He’s done loads for mental health awareness and he’s done loads for injured service personnel. He’s married and started a family and are we happy for him? No, of course not. We’ve said horrific things about the woman he loves and mocked the name he chose for his child. Is it any wonder he’s had enough?

And, let’s be honest, he’s not going to be able to live a normal, safe, private life living in a semi detached in reading and working in a supermarket. All of that public interest is still there and now he’s got none of the protection that comes with being a royal. So what else is there for him to do but utilise his fame?

BobbitWormNightmares · 26/02/2021 10:19

He's stepping back from being a royal - he didn't say he was stepping back from the media - his wife is/was an actress. They just want their independence - which for them means making millions through entertainment/documentaries etc etc but on their own terms.

I think out of all the royals, they must be the most relatable, for not wanting to live like that. I couldn't care less about the royals but I sort of like harry and Meghan

You just scroll on by! Just don't read it. Just think oh Prince Harry/ Nick Kowles/ Towie, not interested next article please.
ChristOnAPeloton · 26/02/2021 10:20

“ Prince Harry married a Black woman.

People racists who like to think they're not got angry.

The end.”

I find it so incredibly boring and lazy every time someone tries to shut down a thread about Whinge and Cringe by making it about Meghan’s ethnicity...

YANBU OP. Hazza has become a right old pillock in his old age. (Or he always was one and the RF have stopped covering up for him.)

He’s got the independence and privacy he wanted. Why not turn off the webcam and enjoy it?

And I’m not even a fan of Queenie- but H&M’s insistence on having the last word every time BP releases a statement is petty in the extreme.

Runwithtorches · 26/02/2021 10:21

He's all me, me, me. Just like his mother.

Bit unfair. Diana had packs of press following her from when she was nineteen whether she liked it or not. It made sense to try and control the narrative.

Harry needs to find his niche and then get on and do rather than talk.

Bibidy · 26/02/2021 10:21

I think Prince Harry has always seemed like a nice person, but I do feel their actions over the past couple of years have really put him and Meghan in a bad light.

To walk away from their duties in order to live privately and then do a load of high-profile podcasts, TV shows and interviews just makes a mockery of the whole reason they chose to step down. It makes it clear that they don't want privacy, they just want only favourable publicity.

Also to stand in the middle of some of the poorest people in the world and moan that nobody asks if you're OK is very badly judged.

I think if they genuinely had stepped out of the limelight people wouldn't feel so negative towards them.

@Muddlemoo that's what I do when I see anything about Katie Price and Gemma Collins. Grin

It seems people are being made to watch and read articles about H&M against their will. Shock
