AIBU to think that Prince Harry is coming across as the most tone deaf and hypocritical member of the RF right now?

Yes the guy lost his mother in a tragic way at a young age. (So have many) Yes he was forced out into the public eye in the middle of grief (which was horrific at the time and worse on reflection) BUT he is now an adult man with a family and access to life of extreme privilege yet he cannot seem to realise that him publically complaining about his lot in life and telling the rest of us how to behave is distasteful. Also, the petulant way he seems to communicate with the media is just undelining his immaturity and lack of awareness. By which I mean, the potshots in statements and rapping with James Corden and his pathetic man of the people schtick. If you want to be Hazzer give up your title and STFU!

@Roussette

I'm really not interested in googling for polls that say Harry is one of the worst royals according to people that read these papers!. Didn't know polls like this existed to be honest, it had to be the DM or DExpress.
And again. It's a report on a YouGov poll.

But g'wan. Try Wink

Sparklingbrook · 28/02/2021 21:26

I used to do YouGov polls, didn't know they still existed!

Roussette · 28/02/2021 21:27

I saw

1,541 people polled. Gosh.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 28/02/2021 21:31

'If you don't care about or like him, look away. Not need for all this looking through a microscope at him and frothing. There are better and healthier uses of your time and energy'

I'm not looking through a microscope or 'frothing'. It's a fairly reasonable debate about someone who has shared his opinions publicly on a chat show.

If you 'don't care or like it' then follow your own advice and look away. Its not compulsory to comment y'know.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 28/02/2021 21:32

And it takes a certain kind of person to participate in a pointless poll on the royal family.

But says something about the RF and those that are avid followers, it has become like a celeb show or a circus with ratings what characters/ acts you like best 😃.

CathyorClaire · 28/02/2021 21:32

Will a very recent report from a broadsheet carry more weight?

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2021/02/23/prince-harry-meghan-have-let-royal-family-nearly-half-britons/

Roussette · 28/02/2021 21:34

The Telegraph? No. There's a paywall thank god.

From what I remember of YouGov polls you had to do so many to get £50 and it was a lot of surveys so made sense to whip through them and not worry too much.
Roussette · 28/02/2021 21:35

Nice little earner! Think I'll register Grin

Oh unclench. There's polls on the time on Twitter. I mean here we are bickering on mn so not quite sure why you're looking down you nose on 'a certain kind of person to participate in a pointless poll' Grin.

Sparklingbrook · 28/02/2021 21:37

You might get your £50 in 2024. I didn't get many sent to me-maybe I wasn't the sort of person they wanted the views of. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/02/2021 21:38

The unclenching will start in 12 posts time when this thread will be full. Maybe the OP will come back and say thank you and goodbye. Grin

Lookingforwardto2021 · 28/02/2021 21:39

@Sparklingbrook fascinating! Can you choose what topics? And can you have your cat run over the keyboard for random answers? Or are they monitored?

I can't remember exactly but they need all your deets to tailor the surveys to you. I think it was perfectly possible to whizz through and not pay much attention. Grin

MuddleMoo · 28/02/2021 21:41

Wow! Still going strong.

I used to do YouGov polls. Never got asked about the Royals (or Nick Knowles)

Sparklingbrook · 28/02/2021 21:41

I might sign up again in the hope they ask me about PH specifically.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 28/02/2021 21:43

Can't believe people are STILL yapping on about
how supposedly terrible prince harry and Meghan are- 40 pages of this you've done now!!!

Can't you see what all this is? The express, sun and daily mail tested the waters over a period of months during 2018 to see what sort of stories get more traction on their sites. From looking at the stats, the slightly negative stories featuring language that othered Meghan and set them apart got slightly more hits. They realised that an insidious seam of racism/hatred of successful people/classism and anti-american sentiment still exists among their readership and have gone full throttle for that narrative. To get clicks. For money. There has since been a steady stream of negative stories all carefully calibrated to lure you all in and click on the bait so that you can feel all outraged and fired up. And they continue to make more money off you. And the data mining that your clicks enable them to do.

...

And here you are. On thread number 2647493627 discussing the same bloody things - that South Africa interview, bloody Netflix and waffles.

Tomorrow there will be another pearl-clutching article in the tabloids - Harry will have picked his nose or supposedly Meghan will have said that Archie has done something (anything!?) or some shitty 'royal expert' will make up some crap about some etiquette faux pas and you'll all be back here, steaming away for thousand more pages. Why? What's the point? What's in it for you? What do you get out of all this bitterness?

Sparklingbrook · 28/02/2021 21:44

It will be a fun day on here when the Oprah interview gets aired that's for sure...

Cheeserton · 28/02/2021 21:44

Am I literally the only person who for ages just didn't realise that Meghan Markle had a black mother? Had no clue until it got mentioned a lot.

CathyorClaire · 28/02/2021 21:44

Above link is free.

Harry's stock is dropping like a lead ballon. Provide me something to say it ain't so.

Roussette · 28/02/2021 21:45

Angelica spot on.

Wish your post was number 1,000.

A fitting tribute to this thread.

Roussette · 28/02/2021 21:45

Not on my computer it's not. Deffo a paywall.

CathyorClaire · 28/02/2021 21:45
