Out of boredom/interest...

I realised that in work I change my shoes AT LEAST 10 times per day.

What do you do as a part of your day/job that others might find odd or wouldn't realise?

Bumping for you. I put this on my watch list as it seems really interesting.
Why do you have to change your shoes so many times?

Thelnebriati · 20/02/2021 23:32

I've had some odd jobs. I used to have to put on wellies and wash them with disinfectant 10 times a day.

Mummadeze · 20/02/2021 23:32

I watch TV. But it is part of my role so it isn’t strange really. But it might seem unusual to some people.

1Morewineplease · 20/02/2021 23:33

10 times???

clipcloptrop · 20/02/2021 23:38

@Madamedelacroix thank you. I have to wear different shoes in different areas that I work in. So I change from my own shoes into one pair for most of the building and then I change again into another pair to go into other areas. So essentially going to the toilet means I have to change out of one pair and into another. Every break means I change back etc etc

I read out loud an A4 page about thirty times a day, I know it off by heart and dream about it.

toodleloooo · 21/02/2021 00:16

Good thread idea, OP!

I receive reports from a private investigator on people and their businesses to help me do my job. Nowhere near as intrusive as on the TV/in films but still enough to make me wary about the info I make publicly available.

MNerGoneRogueAgain · 21/02/2021 01:11

Ok, this isn't changing my shoes 10 times a day, and not very interesting or exciting, but trust me, if you knew me in RL you would absolutely not believe that at work l..

My written communication is fully in Welsh, as are all staff interactions and any work documents.

grassisjeweled · 21/02/2021 01:24

Speak French (badly) quite a bit of the time. Written French is better

SkiingIsHeaven · 21/02/2021 01:40

I use trigonometry.

So you should listen in school because some people actually use it in real life.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 21/02/2021 01:43

I watch people...sometimes up to 12hrs a day

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 21/02/2021 01:47

Threaten senior public servants with witness summonses if they don’t answer my questions (haven’t had to serve one yet!)

Vgbeat · 21/02/2021 09:34

These are really interesting and I'm already intrigued by some.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/02/2021 09:45

Drive through an Armed Checkpoint to do anything. (Or indeed walk). Take the kids to school, g3t home, go to the supermarket, just going for a walk...

Ringshanks · 21/02/2021 09:49

I frequently work in the dark - if the lights come on I have to make sure I’m hidden from view

user1493413286 · 21/02/2021 09:52

In my job the things I say make people cry on probably at least a weekly basis and that’s not actually a bad thing

mum2bin2021 · 21/02/2021 09:57

I give away thousands of pounds per day.

jendifer · 21/02/2021 10:00

Make people cry
(Nicely) encourage parents to step up

I diagnose faults & come up with solutions for engineers working miles away on equipment I've never (and will never) see or touch.

Basickitsch · 21/02/2021 10:12

I play computer games

TinySongstress · 21/02/2021 10:12

Also, I use microfiche. NOBODY uses microfiche anymore 😂
