Out of boredom/interest...

I realised that in work I change my shoes AT LEAST 10 times per day.

What do you do as a part of your day/job that others might find odd or wouldn't realise?

CoffeeRequiredNow · 21/02/2021 11:36

Sorry, that was to Ringshanks working in the dark.

Scarby9 · 21/02/2021 11:39

Work with adults while wearing a cuddly animal glove puppet on my hand probably 5 or 6 times a year.

WhitechapelLass · 21/02/2021 11:50

I still have a landline and answer it when it rings.

Is your job that you are an exhibit in a museum Grin

TheNationsFavourite · 21/02/2021 12:00

I do too, but I work from home in the country with poor mobile signal in a 400 year old house with 2ft thick stone walls.

Gooo · 21/02/2021 12:14

There’s a room at work everyone calls the chlamydia room.

Gooo · 21/02/2021 12:15

That’s not as weird as it sounds - I work in pathology.

steppemum · 21/02/2021 12:18

OK people.

You need to tell us what you do, as I'd love to knwo the story behind many of these.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 21/02/2021 12:18

Nothing too unusual, but if I described it out of context it would sound a bit odd Grin

Pick poo up off the ground, and sometimes from inside people's homes.
Get peed on.
Handle random dead animal parts and sell them to others.

I'm a dog walker that sells natural dog treats online!

dapsdaps · 21/02/2021 12:21

I make people do things that they don't want to do because it is for their own good.

SuperSharpShooter · 21/02/2021 12:22

Call people on the phone to ask them for verbal consent to call them on the phone 🤷‍♀️

GranolaHolmes · 21/02/2021 12:26

I walk down the stairs backwards

delsfilofax · 21/02/2021 12:28

I look for something that can't be seen but I know where it lurks, if it's there at all. I then never find out if I've found it and especially in the places I know it lurks.

Barnowl25 · 21/02/2021 12:47

@Aroundtheworldin80moves do you live in Saudi? Used to be my life too.

SmudgeButt · 21/02/2021 12:51

I respond to those annoying emails from managers which are normally titled something like "Dave's daily blog!"

And my response is normally "Dave who please!?"

We're likely to have a few hundred Dave's in our (very large) company so I'm always surprised that people assume everyone will know who they are. I know this is like playing Russian roulette and at some point i will likely get bumped off for doing it but it makes me happy to have a dig at their pomposity.

I also respond to a lot of the emails that are "Shirley is a colleague with anorexia (or whatever) and this is her story". I always thank these people for sharing as it takes a lot of nerve to go public and I would hate them to think that no one cares. I know a lot of these things simply go unread as we get so many emails daily - I personally can get up to 200 but my OCD is to ensure that none are left unread by the end of the day (more likely on receipt - and no I don't read every single one to the bitter end as that would be impossible.)

SimonJT · 21/02/2021 12:52
@SimonJT, you’re a part-time actuary, part-time rugby player?
Yep.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/02/2021 13:01
@Aroundtheworldin80moves do you live in Saudi? Used to be my life too.
No, I'm in England.

I can currently hear gunfire outside.

Toottootdrivers · 21/02/2021 13:02

I know surprising amount about medicine for someone who doesn't work in healthcare

Madvixen · 21/02/2021 13:06

@Aroundtheworldin80moves I can hear gunfire today too and I also have to walk past armed men when I leave the house.

I also have to use a "Spooks" type pod to enter and exit my building

AChickenCalledDaal · 21/02/2021 13:07

I read every word of the responses that people sent in during a council consultation, think carefully about them and act upon what was said. I understand that people find this hard to believe but it's true.

I also occasionally use microfiche, and trigonometry!

Cormoransjacket · 21/02/2021 13:08

Ringshanks, are you a radiographer?

Porridgeoat · 21/02/2021 13:10

I deal with death a lot. Caring for the elderly.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 21/02/2021 13:10

I have to wear black, navy or dark grey suits. No other colours permitted.

LucilleBluth · 21/02/2021 13:13

God I have loads. Restraining a child in a padded room...who you will then be having a nice lunch next to later in the day.

Cherrysoup · 21/02/2021 13:15

@Havlerr I know someone has to do it, don’t think I could. All respect to you for being a fabulous person.

MySocalledLoaf · 21/02/2021 13:19

I correct people’s grammar and afterwards security guards check whether I’m radioactive.
