To be triggered by the sight and sound of Nicola Sturgeon

Since lockdown started I have found that it creates a feeling of dread and anxiety in me every time I hear her voice or see a photo of Nicola Sturgeon or watch her on TV. Same with Boris to an extent, but less so due to Scottish restrictions being more relevant to me. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to hear her speak or see her without these horrible feelings coming back: feeling of bleakness and worry about what she’s going to say next. I think I’ve just come to associate her voice and face with bad news. There’s also part of me that has a sense she’s enjoying the level of control she has over the nation. I just don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to her again without being transported back to these horrible times. I know in my rational mind she’s just doing her job, but I still feel a strong aversion due to the messages she’s delivering

Check Janey Godley's voiceovers - if that doesn't cheer you up nothing will!

hellswelshy · 16/02/2021 19:46

Yanbu. I feel the same about the Welsh FM too. It's irrational I suppose, but I get it. Just a sense of doom every time he does a press conference!

Downthefarm · 16/02/2021 20:22

I think she's competent, unlike BJ.

stampsurprise · 16/02/2021 20:27

I felt a strong aversion to her pre-COVID tbh Grin

Elsia · 16/02/2021 20:28

Yeah i’m with you OP.

I’m delighted my kids are going back to school and nursery as of Monday but Jesus Christ there is just never any good news.

Raffleyourdoughnut · 16/02/2021 20:33

Seriously. Just don't watch her. Vote the SNP out in May. HmmConfused

annie335 · 16/02/2021 20:34

@Downthefarm

I think she's competent, unlike BJ.
Not so much with the vaccine rollout..
Daphnise · 16/02/2021 20:42

I can't stand her voice and preachy smugness.

Others like this were Blair (and he still is) and Thatcher.

hamstersarse · 16/02/2021 20:44

She’s got a lot of sociopathic traits

Probably why a lot of people worship her

HermioneWeasley · 16/02/2021 20:45

That is an entirely normal reaction to seeing or hearing her. She’s awful

Loopyloututu · 16/02/2021 20:46

We call her little Jimmy Krankie Grin

PersonaNonGarter · 16/02/2021 20:46

Yeah. She’s grim.

ilovesooty · 16/02/2021 20:47

Don't watch her then. Johnson makes me want to throw things at the TV so I just read the information rather than watching his broadcasts.

ilovesooty · 16/02/2021 20:47

@Loopyloututu

We call her little Jimmy Krankie Grin
Oh how original. Hmm
LillyBugg · 16/02/2021 20:49

I feel like this about the BBC notifications on my phone. When the noise goes off I instantly go 'oh ffs what now'

Loopyloututu · 16/02/2021 20:49

Oh how original

Well it makes us laugh!

IheartJKR · 16/02/2021 20:51

I can’t stand her myself and have the same reaction.
Sociopath you say @hamstersarse ?
I must say I had the same feeling when she quoted Rabbie on Burns directed at Boris. That smug wee grin on her face was really unpleasant to watch, she has really been enjoying the power during Covid.
The woman’s toxic. I’d say you’re intact op. FlowersFlowers

JerichoGirl · 16/02/2021 20:52

I think a lot of news and people fronting the pandemic updates have become triggering. That's why comms are so important, the messaging needs to be delivered clearly, efficiently and with empathy. However most politicians are narcissistic jerks...

IheartJKR · 16/02/2021 20:53

@LillyBugg we call her The wee Krankie’ in this house!

Carycy · 16/02/2021 20:58

I just feel she is constantly trying to undermine and get one up on Boris! Don’t think he is wonderful but I think she should at least try and present a united front a bit. She is always like ha ha, I disagree with you I am going to do it slightly different just because I can.

Thymeout · 16/02/2021 21:15

I like her. Much better than the lying toe-rag we've got. Boris has only himself to blame if he's always playing catch-up with the devolved nations. They listen to the science and take action. He dithers and dallies and people die while he makes up his mind. Too little, too late.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 16/02/2021 21:18

Leave her alone. Better than the moron racist that we’ve got.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 16/02/2021 21:19

And I suspect that some of the hatred directed towards her is because
a) she’s female
b) she’s Scottish and not grovelling in supplication at the feet of the English

PersonaNonGarter · 16/02/2021 21:30

Tell you what @Mistlewoeandwhine why don’t you swap your ‘lying toe-rag’ for our Scottish Education statistics? You can lecture us about ‘it’s cos she’s a woman’ when your DC are facing the same bottom-of-International-league-tables attainment.

Oh, and if you have been following the Salmond case, you’ll know Nicola Sturgeon also falls under the ‘lying toe-rag’ heading as well.
