Pancake day - what's the normal amount of pancakes to eat??

Having a bit of a debate. Family think 6-8 is normal. I have friends who are done after two.

How many do you typically put away??? Grin (hint: make me feel better about the fifth one I'm about to have...!)

Am talking about crepes btw.

Depends.

English pancakes (crepes) with sugar and lemon - 3x 5 or 6 inch pancakes

American pancakes (thick and fluffy) - 4-5x 4 or 5 inch pancakes with butter and maple syrup

I think I have too many American pancakes but it is about creating a stack and balancing the pancake/butter/syrup ratio.

BlowDryRat · 16/02/2021 19:32

We've all had 3 each. I could eat a lot more than that!

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 16/02/2021 19:32

@Mrgrinch

One or two.

Anyone who sits and eats 8 pancakes is a greedy pig. That's ridiculous.

That is literally the point. Today is mardi gras- Fat Tuesday - and precipitates the asceticism of Lent.
JayAlfredPrufrock · 16/02/2021 19:32

🙄

Lovely1a2b3c · 16/02/2021 19:32

@Kottbullar

We had 4 American ones each for brunch with bacon and maple syrup.

Just about to make the thin ones for dinner, there's enough batter for about 5 each.

That is how you celebrate Pancake day!!
Peachypips78 · 16/02/2021 19:33

We had five each, but that was all we had for dinner.

LOL I thought the same thing but you put it so much more eloquently.

Thesagacontinues · 16/02/2021 19:36

I had one at 10am, 2 at 5pm and just had another 3 Blush.

I eat them plain with absolutely nothing on them (trying to make myself feel better here).

HeadNorth · 16/02/2021 19:36

5 - 3 with lemon & sugar and 2 with Nutella. Now feel stuffed. That was my tea though, we don't bother with anything but pancakes on pancake day. All hail the great god Pancake.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 16/02/2021 19:37

2 for pudding - one lemon and sugar and one nutella. Four if I were doing savory too.

Lovely1a2b3c · 16/02/2021 19:38

@Theimpossiblegirl

I was joking. Wink
Thank God for that! was trying to work out how it's possible to eat half a pancake.
SplendidSuns1000 · 16/02/2021 19:40

@Franklyfrost

Oh no! Cross post to *@SplendidSuns1000* I wasn’t commenting on your partner’s pancake eating abilities!
I hadn't even considered you were! All good!
Taylrse · 16/02/2021 19:40

2.5 because we ran out of batter! :(

However they're so thin and light I could eat alot more. Lemon and sugar all the way!

Chunkymenrock · 16/02/2021 19:40

6 or so, but we don't count. I make them thin, like crepes. I think my 17 year old has had 10 or so!

FitterHappierMoreProductive · 16/02/2021 19:43

I had 5-6 dinner plate sized English pancakes. 2 with cheese and caramelised onion and the rest with sugar and lemon. Delicious! Eaten whilst standing at the pan making everyone else’s, although teenage DS sorted the fillings. And we all stood around cheerfully enjoying them in the kitchen, and everyone stopped after about 1 too many Grin. But that is surely the point?! A last hurrah before lent...

FrauleinF · 16/02/2021 19:43

Did a batch for my reception aged son and toddler daughter earlier. She had most of one, he had two and a half, and I had a spare one that I somehow managed to keep secret in the kitchen, plus the half my son didn't want. Have made a fresh bowl of batter ready for dinner for dinner later, and fully expect to demolish a couple of pancakes with some bacon and maple syrup, and a pair liberally spread with some Nutoka for dessert.

TeeBee · 16/02/2021 19:43

2 max

PurpleDaisies · 16/02/2021 19:44

Eaten whilst standing at the pan making everyone else’s,

As a fellow commander of the pan, I salute you!

MustardMitt · 16/02/2021 19:45

I had 4 or 5 for lunch and then a further 3 or 4 later on. I just have lemon on mine though.

I am also a pan commander so the first few are mine Grin

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/02/2021 19:46

Well I have eaten six (as my entire dinner) and am going to collapse in a carb-coma as I have been low carbing for ages.

Two cheese and 4 lemon and stevia, superduper thin crepe style.

FitterHappierMoreProductive · 16/02/2021 19:47

It’s the best job @PurpleDaisies and @MustardMitt

My DH said, I’ll have one more - “you can’t, the last one is mine...” 😉

DavidsSchitt · 16/02/2021 19:47

The kids had 3. I had 1.

Because that was the extent of the batter I had...if you've more then go for it!

DanielODonkey · 16/02/2021 19:47

Ordinarily I would say 3 each.

Sadly we only had 1 each this evening. Shocking recipe that only yielded 4 pancakes (and 2 tiny ones that the kids had as extras).

I'm really disappointed. Going to eat the spoonfuls of nutella that would have gone in pancakes.

Autumn101 · 16/02/2021 19:47

We had about 3 fluffy American style ones each for breakfast, 3 thin crepe ones for lunch and about 3 savoury 4 sweet for dinner. So a lot of pancakes! And they were all delicious.

Today is not a day to worry, eat as many as you can

TatianaBis · 16/02/2021 19:48

Blimey O'Reilly.

No wonder 60% of adults are classed as overweight or obese in the UK.
