Pancake day - what's the normal amount of pancakes to eat??

Having a bit of a debate. Family think 6-8 is normal. I have friends who are done after two.

How many do you typically put away??? Grin (hint: make me feel better about the fifth one I'm about to have...!)

Am talking about crepes btw.

That’s our actual dinner - not dinner then 6 pancakes....

GalesThisMorning · 16/02/2021 18:38

I had 2 savoury crepes and one with nutella and I am stuffed!! My teeny tiny 4 year old had 4 sweet ones, after eating 2 chipolatas a jacket potato and peas. He only stopped eating because I insisted he take a break.

Apparently some of us are born with a separate pancake stomach Grin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 16/02/2021 18:39

Depends on the size and thickness surely? We had them for lunch and had two each. Medium sized, not overly thick, with fillings. No one went hungry.

MonkeyPuddle · 16/02/2021 18:39

I had two, DS, DP and DSD had 3 each.
DS had sugar, lemon, syrup and Nutella on his. Jesus wept. I’ll never get him to sleep now.

DallyCrazy · 16/02/2021 18:40

None but I don't like them. DDs had or 4 small ones each for their tea. We had our main meal at lunch time so they had space for pancakes.

justcannotwithyou · 16/02/2021 18:40

Surely that depends on if you have them as your actual meal or as pudding. I would say 2 or 3 if pudding, 6-8 seems reasonable if it's all you're having.
But also if someone wants to have 13 of them I don't see what the problem is Grin

Frazzlefrazle · 16/02/2021 18:41

Children had 2 1/2 and us adults had 4 1/2 the half's are because our eyes were bigger than our belly Grin This was as out main meals. Loads of sugar, spreads and lemon juice! For us it's just as many as you can get in ha!

Norwaydidnthappen · 16/02/2021 18:41

We have 4 each and it’s sufficient, the toddler has 2 so we have to make 22 pancakes in total Grin.

HavelockVetinari · 16/02/2021 18:42

I had 3, 2 savoury and the last one with bacon & maple syrup so half and half.

Kottbullar · 16/02/2021 18:42

We had 4 American ones each for brunch with bacon and maple syrup.

Just about to make the thin ones for dinner, there's enough batter for about 5 each.

barnhen · 16/02/2021 18:44

what's the normal amount of pancakes to eat??

All of them.

ZackaryQuack · 16/02/2021 18:44

We had 3 each here, ds had 1 and a half, but that was our dinner, 3 thick American style banana pancakes with berries and honey on top. Dh would have eaten more if I'd made more batter.

gingercat02 · 16/02/2021 18:45

I made batter with 4 eggs, 400mls milk, 220g flour. DH had 2 as mid morning snack. I had 3 for breakfast and ds had the rest. No one was counting 🤣

Happycat1212 · 16/02/2021 18:45

I can’t believe how many people eat! I’ve had 3 and felt like a pig Blush

FuzzyPuffling · 16/02/2021 18:46

We had two each for lunch. It was quite enough.

PurpleDaisies · 16/02/2021 18:46

Mine are side plate sized.

One starter pancake that didn’t make the main course grade
Three with main as part of this bake www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/spinach-ricotta-pancake-bake
One or two pudding ones later.

BoattoBolivia · 16/02/2021 18:47

We have had 3 each but they are 12" and had 2 savoury with spinach, sweetcorn, cream cheese + mushrooms and/ or bacon for those who wanted it. 1sweet each as we then ran out of batter! DD and I would have had more but really couldn't be arsed to make more batter (which was probably just as well)

justcannotwithyou · 16/02/2021 18:47

Here we go Hmm
pastapestoparmesan · 16/02/2021 18:50

I had 6 English style. That was my whole dinner, but they were all sweet. I don’t like savoury pancakes.

RevolutionRadio · 16/02/2021 18:50

I think alot depends what you put on them and if pancakes is the meal.

We've had 3 sweet ones each but didn't bother with actual dinner.

Hagqueen · 16/02/2021 18:50

Crepe style pancakes here, around the size of a small dinner plate, lemon and sugar.

I have had three, with one more I will probably eat with a cuppa later. Its replaced a main meal for me, but not for everyone else :D

The limit does not exist on pancake day!

Rose789 · 16/02/2021 18:50

Crepes there is no limit. Keep going until all the flour and eggs go- that’s the whole point of it so your just being a good Christian.
I made American pancakes and only managed 2 with berries and maple syrup for tea and frankly I’m ashamed of myself for being such a quitter

Coasterfan · 16/02/2021 18:51

I just had 7. That was our dinner though😀

Lovelydovey · 16/02/2021 18:52

3 small American pancakes (made with banana rather than egg) for breakfast with blueberries and home made maple syrup (from American relatives).

Two savoury buckwheat galettes with spinach, mushrooms and cheese for tea, followed by a crepe with ice cream and squirty cream!

DeathMetalMum · 16/02/2021 18:53

We had them for lunch, I had 3 and a miniature one from the last bits. It wasn't enough but I really couldn't be bothered making any more mix. Crepes here I'd say at least 4.
