Was lovingly loading the dish washer this morning (it's fairly new in my life and I love it) and I wondered if my washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer all broke at the same time, which I would hope to replace first.

I think I might be unreasonable to say the dish washer. It brings me so much joy.

You ?

Dishwasher last for me. Washing machine and then tumble drier are my essentials

Sapho47 · 16/02/2021 04:39

Washer, dryer, dish washer.

I love the dish washer but its so much less effort cleaning pots than clothes

Washing machine.. schlepping to the launderette especially in mid winter is not my idea of fun (and will quickly cost a small fortune).

marvinscarpark · 16/02/2021 05:11

The washing machine

FlyNow · 16/02/2021 05:14

Washing machine obviously! How long does it take to hand wash a sink of dishes - 10 minutes? How long does it take to hand wash a basket of clothes? Wouldn't know because I've never done it but a bloody long time.

safariboot · 16/02/2021 05:42

In normal times it would be the dishwasher. It's used more often and launderettes are a thing.

With covid-19 it might have to be the washer dryer. No room for a separate washing machine and drier in our house. But most things we air dry to save electricity anyway.

SuperCaliFragalistic · 16/02/2021 05:59

I don't own a dryer but I would replace my Lakeland heater airer if it broke. To be honest I'd replace all 3 immediately but I guess I could live without the dishwasher for longer. My oven broke recently and for various reasons it took a month to replace. We managed surprisingly well without it although I did miss a roast dinner. I also have managed well without a washing machine in the past when waiting a week or so for repairs - I would go to my mates and put a load in hers and have a cup of tea and a chat while it washed and I also quite like the laundrette where you can get a hot drink and use the wifi.

Washing machine
Dryer
Dish washer

Mollymalone123 · 16/02/2021 06:27

Washing machine definitely- I love mine -if you had to use a twin tub as your first machine to wash your clothes in you’d understand 😂😂

Enko · 16/02/2021 06:39

Washing machine
Dishwasher
Tumble dryer.

Years ago when we were moving we needed a fridge freezer and a dishwasher. Dh said we can afford 2 this month then will get the 3rd the month later

I said OK fridge and dishwasher. Loads were going omg you need a freezer more than a dishwasher. I LOATHE doing the dishes always have (was my forced chore as a child and it was non negotiable my mother was a chef and her hands could cope with such hot water and I have horrid memories of her topping the water up complaining it was too cold and then my burning my fingers on the water) so to me tje dishwasher was a higher priority than a freezer that I could wait one month for.

Additionally I knew dh would go "oh we can't afford it this month if we went fridge and freezer and would be all "oh I will do it" but this never materialising (he was working away a lot) and that was a chance I was not taking.

Lovely MIL was on my side telling dh that a dishwasher was an essential purchase

I got my dishwasher Smile

Washing machine, wouldn't bother replacing other two.

Crayfishforyou · 16/02/2021 06:42

Washing machine. I’ve just spent a week washing clothes in the bath.
Fuck that.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/02/2021 06:44

Washing machine as I don't own the other two.

Badabingbadabum · 16/02/2021 07:47

Washing machine, definitely. I was without mine for about four days last year and it was just so inconvenient. The dryer also broke last summer (it had six years of heavy use so it wasnt a surprise) but we didn't replace it until Autumn as even the towels dried super quickly outside.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 16/02/2021 07:53

definitely washing machine

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 16/02/2021 07:54

i just took several loads of washing to my dm, took up my whole weekend

toconclude · 16/02/2021 07:55

@CherieBabySpliffUp

Washing machine as I would say that is the only vital one. The others are luxuries Grin
They ARE luxuries, and you even joking about a hard hat is a symptom of how spoiled we all are.
BidensWingWoman · 16/02/2021 08:16
  1. Washing machine
  2. Dishwasher
  3. Tumble drier (although I might not bother with this one at all)
