Was lovingly loading the dish washer this morning (it's fairly new in my life and I love it) and I wondered if my washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer all broke at the same time, which I would hope to replace first.

I think I might be unreasonable to say the dish washer. It brings me so much joy.

You ?

washing machine

a long way behind:

dishwasher
tumble dryer (but I have space in the utility room to hang everything to dry)

NoWordForFluffy · 15/02/2021 22:10

@Floobydo

Washing machine, then dishwasher, then tumble drier
Yep. This is my choice too.
HairyToity · 15/02/2021 22:10

Washing machine
Dishwasher
Tumble drier

I have previously lived without dishwasher and tumble drier.

MiniTheMinx · 15/02/2021 22:14

Washing machine
Dishwasher

I have never had a tumble dryer. The washing machine has a dryer but its not fantastic, but it works. I seldom use it. I have a sheila maid....its the best thing ever and its cheap and it won't break down.

MuddyPawPrintsEverywhere · 15/02/2021 22:15

Washing machine is a must.

Drier is very important, but could survive without.
Dishwasher makes life much easier, but I've lived without one and could again.

Proudboomer · 15/02/2021 22:18

Washing machine
In over 50 years of life I have never owned a dish washer or wanted to.
Tumble dryer. I have a half sized one that is just large enough to take a half load of socks and pants so I don’t have to have them on the airier.

MuddyPawPrintsEverywhere · 15/02/2021 22:20

Ack! Dryer. Not drier... Blush

MotherExtraordinaire · 15/02/2021 22:26

Washing machine, tumble dryer then dishwasher.

It took me 6 years to replace the DW but the WM was replaced within a few days. Though we could use family members's machines it's a pain for them.

Drying the clothes is a ballache but preferable to hand-washing!

Whatisthisfuckery · 15/02/2021 22:32

Washing machine is essential. Drying everything on a horse in the winter would be a massive pain in the arse. I do have a dishwasher now but I didn’t for years and I managed fine, in fact for several years I didn’t have running hot water, so had to boil the kettle, so sadly the dishwasher comes at the bottom of the list.

covetingthepreciousthings · 15/02/2021 22:35

We don't have a tumble dryer or a dishwasher.. so the only option here would be washing machine!

I do dream of having all 3 though!

hulahooper2 · 15/02/2021 22:43

Washing machine , that’s a necessity , the other two aren’t

PickAChew · 15/02/2021 22:51

Washer, dryer, then dishwasher.

Though I might look for a threefer :o

Had to replace our drier, last summer (run of rainy days made me realise I shouldn't put it off until the colder months) and had been keeping a beady eye on our fridge and dishwasher, both getting on a bit. Dishwasher died, after a puzzling and in hindsight, worrying, weekend of flickery lights, last month. Fridge still slowly crumbling. It's been too small, through the Pandemic but there's not much available yo replace it with, so I'd like it to live a bit longer.

mootymoo · 15/02/2021 22:51

Washing machine is vital, there's not even a laundrette in my town. I lived without the other two for the whole of 2020!

Crimeismymiddlename · 15/02/2021 22:57

Oh wow, I only have a washer/dryer and the dryer bit has broken. I can’t be arsed to get the repair person out so I would say washing machine.

baileysisforme · 15/02/2021 23:04

Washing machine
Dishwasher
Tumble dryer

MRex · 15/02/2021 23:14

How is this a question?
Washing machine of course. We don't have a tumble drier and I've lives most of my life without a dishwasher, but I'd get the dishwasher next.

Solina · 15/02/2021 23:16

Dishwasher. I hate doing dishes so much that I have actually previously chosen dishwasher over washing machine whilst waiting for plumbing to be added for both machines. There is a decent laundrette near us and I would rather make that trip every two weeks than have to do the dishes twice a day.

CecilyP · 15/02/2021 23:18

Washing machine. I managed without a dishwasher for years although I would miss it if it broke down. And I have never owned a tumble dryer. In the days before I had a washing machine, I had easy access to launderettes which is no longer the case so would definitely need one ASAP

pippapoo62 · 16/02/2021 00:13

Don't have a tumble dryer, I am the dishwasher so washing machine it is .

WaltzingTilda · 16/02/2021 00:44

Washing machine. We hardly use our dishwasher and we don't have a tumble dryer.

maddening · 16/02/2021 00:50

Washing machine, then dishwasher a close second.

Dancingwithdreams · 16/02/2021 00:53

Tumble drier, no question

Dishwashing pain but can be done by hand
Same for washing machine.

I’d be swimming in mouldy smelling damp clothes with no tumble drier.

Sarahplane · 16/02/2021 01:02

Washing machine. I'm not sure whether I would do dishwasher or tumble dryer next. If it was summer I would replace dishwasher next as clothes can be dried outside but maybe the other way round in winter.

blueshoes · 16/02/2021 02:06

Washing machine. You can handwash dishes but not clothes. Tumble driers in the UK don't really work that well.

blueshoes · 16/02/2021 02:08

I’d be swimming in mouldy smelling damp clothes with no tumble drier.

I would have thought your washing machine will have a spin cycle that gets as much of the water out as possible. If you handwash clothes, they would be dripping wet.
