Why do they do this? Ive seen two in the last 24 hours! Nothing remotely insulting, libellous or argumentative on them! It's like the only discussion with which they agree is allowed to take place! I personally think it spoils MN, they will probably remove this discussion pretty sharpish anyway!

I'm pissed off about Pickle's thread - MNHQs comment wasn't awfully clear, are they saying she's a troll or some people are worried about her safety or something?

ktp100 · 13/02/2021 21:10

@StoneofDestiny

Not seen any of the deleted threads, but just curious - what is a Tom thread? As in cat or peeping or other?
The one recently with the woman who's DP was moving his best mate 'Tom' in against her wishes.

Lots of people invested and keen to hear how she's getting on. I'll be pissed off if she was a troll but more pissed off if they've pulled it because some drama queens have reported it for her 'safety' - I mean, she's left him, FFS!

ktp100 · 13/02/2021 21:17

@aSofaNearYou

I always wonder how they decide a thread is a "troll", because usually it's on threads where there are loads of comments saying it must be a troll, but I get the impression it's probably a real person that just happens to have opinions people find "out there".

I'd be very interested to know how they decide something must be a troll.

I also wonder this. I often see comments about people being suspect because they've never started a thread before - I've been lurking for years and never had the need to start a thread, if something outrageous happens to me I won't be bringing it here for fear of being troll hunted!!

Still no reply to that question nope 🤣🤣

One about slightly inappropriate messages. OP has been identified apparently.

Oh the one posted by the husband?
ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 13/02/2021 21:27

Yes! Wasn't actually expecting that one to go, though someone did call troll.

I was boggling at someone sleeping with their phone on their pillow, wouldn't it slide into your head? Grin

God, I didn't even clock that till you said and now it's all I can think about.

Grin Not very practical, but a convenient location for it to be for notifications to be read.

Definitely a troll - I had the email from HQ and the OP has been banned.
Hugoslavia · 13/02/2021 21:55

I had a thread removed. Apparently it was attracting complaints and some comments had to be removed. The comments from one individual were quickly deleted, so I never did find out what they said, but the rest was just a discussion and I honestly couldn't understand why the thread as a whole was deemed to be offensive. It wasn't as though their were so many deletions that it disrupted the essence of the discussion. It just seemed like a very hasty and annoying decision.

As a rule, most threads about Meghan Markle are also removed.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 21:58

most threads about Meghan Markle are also removed yes as they’re always obnoxious

Ditto Madeleine McCann. Those threads always take a turn by about the third post in.
HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/02/2021 22:19

Completely agree

Sparklingbrook · 13/02/2021 22:21

MNHQ often delete threads for not being 'in the spirit' and that seems to bother people.

Combustablecustard · 13/02/2021 22:30

My memory is rubbish. I know I clicked to follow a thread earlier as there wasnt much on it and it looked interesting but its not on my lisf anymore. Gone. Just like that. I cant ask anyone what happened to it because I can't bloody remember what it was about!!!

FTMF30 · 13/02/2021 22:33

There was ne thinking MNHQ had removed the Tom thread due to concerns about her safety, not about being a troll 🤦‍♀️

HandyBendySandy · 14/02/2021 07:20

I often bookmark and watch threads, just so I can see the deletion message when it inevitable comes through. I did that with "overweight stepdaughter" as it was so blatantly foul and goady it had to be a troll.

HandyBendySandy · 14/02/2021 07:20

*inevitably

AlternativePerspective · 14/02/2021 07:21

Tbh it baffles me that anyone would have thought the tom thread was real.

Maybe in the beginning when it was just about the best friend, although even that was written like a soap opera “tom shagged a and then b and then started off slagging off someone” (I lost track,)

But the more and more the thread went on, the more far fetched it became.

TBH though, I think a lot of posters actually enjoy being a part of this drama. The OP very much set the scene, but posters were desperate to tell her she should get the police involved, that she was in grave danger, that she should seek restraining orders and see a solicitor about her daughter to prevent Tom from being anywhere near her etc etc etc.

Essentially, posters helped the OP to embellish the story even further. Posters being convinced she was in danger helped her write the narrative perfectly and build up to hurriedly packing as Tom knocked the door.

FuckingFabulous · 14/02/2021 07:30

I've had a post removed with a snarky message about it probably not being true. It very much was and I sent proof to HQ but it wasn't reinstated. It annoys me that people can report things because they've never experienced something like it and someone looking for support is left feeling like people think they're a liar.

Crockof · 14/02/2021 07:51

I've also had a post removed (no idea what name i was using)and the deletion said I was a PBP (previously banned poster) in fairness MN reinstated it , I understand why it sounded like a troll thread and lots of people posted that I must be but the MNetters who took their time to trust and post really did help me when I was in a situation where I had no one else to speak with.
