"Can you look them in the eye and tell them you are doing everything to stop the spread of covid".

Emotional manipulation at its best.

OP posts:
DogsSausages · 12/02/2021 18:31

There are plenty of people who cannot look them in the eye and dont give a damn until it happens to them then they want those staff to look after them

Flaxmeadow · 12/02/2021 18:35

Emotional manipulation at its best.

It's a public health advert. That's what they're supposed to do

ButtWormHole · 12/02/2021 18:37

Well it got me second guessing everything I do so it worked.

teachermummy1 · 12/02/2021 18:40

Agreed! My daughter sees this nearly every time she opens Tiktok... she's sick of it.

Imo its basically propoganda. She's following the rules but I don't think she cares much for who we're 'protecting' Grin Hmm

MrsMackesy · 12/02/2021 18:44

Uncomfortable viewing of other fellow human beings but it does the job it is meant to do. My family and I can look them in the eye - can you?

Cornetttttto · 12/02/2021 18:47

It's annoying. And I say that from the point of view that the VAST majority of millions of people in this country have followed the rules. A minority haven't.

AllTheFloralCurtains · 12/02/2021 18:51

I hate it too, OP
It's also massively fear-mongering; they're meant to be trying to ease people's minds, not make everyone feel even worse.
The people who aren't doing what they should don't give a fuck, so won't give it a second thought. The people who do will have the fear of God put into them.

Notsosnug · 12/02/2021 18:52

I’m not sure you understand what public health advertising is...

LunaHeather · 12/02/2021 18:55

I don't see much media but this one is much better

Yes 👌

Yanbu I've complained to ASA about a few of the covid ads. They've always concluded that they are acceptable but I've been impressed with the detail in which they investigate my complaint.

MrsBerthaRochester · 12/02/2021 19:02

I turn it over. Complete manipulation. I predict all those happily going along with our civil liberties being slowly eroded will still feel the same when this is still going on in the summer with no holidays home or abroad?. Let's see.

That's good

I change the channel for any Covid ad.

It's accurate and the least manipulative of the lot.

They will. They have made it their raison d'etre.
Moomin12345 · 12/02/2021 19:05

I always say "hell yeah!". Poor attempt at a guilt trip.

Fatarseflanagan09 · 12/02/2021 19:06

I'd rather see that than the loads of bastard funeral payment plans that we've been bombarded with since covid started.

StrawberrySquash · 12/02/2021 19:06

I've been sticking to the rules, but that ad just made me angry. People are dying because politicians made a calculation about how many people it was 'okay' to get Covid. They had to do that. They then got unlucky with the Kent strain and they also didn't shut things down when they should. Don't try and pretend if it wasn't for you or me walking round the local park twice in one day these people wouldn't be dying. I think it's a really unhelpful blame the people message. It makes me want to go, 'Sod it, I'm spending Sunday over my friend's.' I won't because I'm not a dick, not because of this ad.

PicsInRed · 12/02/2021 19:07

Look at this nonsense, the state of it.

Janaih · 12/02/2021 19:07

Thanks for the link @LunaHeather I missed that one.

rawalpindithelabrador · 12/02/2021 19:08

I turn it over. I lost my father to it in December. He was in favour of just letting it rip because locked up is no way to live. This is unsustainable.

Guilt trips don't work on me.

RedcurrantPuff · 12/02/2021 19:09

I don’t imagine we will look back favourably on these ads. They have a whiff of the AIDS ones from the 80s

LuluJakey1 · 12/02/2021 19:09

The one that I hate is the bloke with the slow, whiney reading a poem. It's a bank or building society advert. It is so irritating and affected.

titchy · 12/02/2021 19:09

Better than the silo and railway track ones I remember as a kid 😱
