"Can you look them in the eye and tell them you are doing everything to stop the spread of covid".

Emotional manipulation at its best.

OP posts:
Beforethetakingoftoastandtea · 12/02/2021 19:10

Those adverts make me really angry. I really wish someone techy would make one with the cabinet, witty and cummings. Can you look them in the eye knowing you actually could have looked after your own child? etc.

BonnieDundee · 12/02/2021 19:12

I change the channel for any Covid ad.

Me too. I think its spreading more in care/ hospital settings but let's put the emotional blackmail on Joe Public not his employer who has staff working in an unsafe environment

An0n0n0n · 12/02/2021 19:14

Yeah I can, because i didn't travel to a castle, refuse to sort out quarantine or encourage Eat Out to Help Out.

Piss off, advert.

BonnieDundee · 12/02/2021 19:15

I change the channel for any Covid ad.

Meant to add the fuckers have followed me to my favourite radio station and pop up at the bus stop so I can hardly avoid them

mum2jakie · 12/02/2021 19:15

The only people I know of who have been seriously ill with Covid have caught it in hospital while being treated for something else!! These adverts give me the rage!

greeceiwwhereimdreamingof · 12/02/2021 19:16

It prays on those obeying the rules and those that aren’t are not affected by this kind of ad so pointless. It’s really bad for mental health of the mentally vulnerable

Hardbackwriter · 12/02/2021 19:18

I know I'm going to hell for this but the 'PEOPLE will DIE' adverts make me think of the sex ed teacher in Mean Girls - 'don't have sex because you will get pregnant and DIE'

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 12/02/2021 19:18

@DogsSausages

There are plenty of people who cannot look them in the eye and dont give a damn until it happens to them then they want those staff to look after them
Exactly.

Ads need to be hard hitting to make people realise their actions have consequences. Just like the ones for drink driving etc.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 12/02/2021 19:20

@Cornetttttto

It's annoying. And I say that from the point of view that the VAST majority of millions of people in this country have followed the rules. A minority haven't.
From what I am seeing on FB and reading on MN, if it's a majority, I wouldn't say it is vast
HotPenguin · 12/02/2021 19:21

I'm glad to be honest that the government are trying to bring home the consequences of your actions if you choose to break lockdown rules. I agree with many of the comments above about Barnard castle, slowness of lockdown and levels of spread in hospital and care settings, but I still think we should try to limit contacts wherever possible.

GreenSlide · 12/02/2021 19:25

It just reminds me of that old Little Britain sketch with the hypnotist Grin

To be utterly fed up of this Covid advert?
MrsHusky · 12/02/2021 19:27

i get why they're doing them, but as someone who's been following the rules since day one, its all really getting on my wick at the moment.

TwelvePaws · 12/02/2021 19:36

I’m ok with the people who are breaking the rules to feel like they’re being ‘emotionally manipulated’, most probably couldn’t care less though. I don’t feel like I’m being emotionally manipulated because I’m doing everything that is advised.

TwelvePaws · 12/02/2021 19:37

i get why they're doing them, but as someone who's been following the rules since day one, its all really getting on my wick at the moment.

They’re not aimed at you so just ignore them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TwelvePaws · 12/02/2021 19:38

I wish the adverts were a bit more hard hitting to be honest, they’re very soft really.

Akire · 12/02/2021 19:40

They hit so few people in the right place. If the majority who have been sticking to the rules feel like being preached at. The tiny amount who couldn’t care less- going laugh or turn it over. Small amount who now go to Tesco’s once a week instead of twice?

NorbertMeubles · 12/02/2021 19:41

I just shout FUCK OFF at the telly. And, yes I could look them in they eye.

TwelvePaws · 12/02/2021 19:44

I just shout FUCK OFF at the telly.

😬 Okaaaaaaay.

Butterbeeeen · 12/02/2021 19:45

I can look them in the eye and that's what gets me so annoyed. We are living it every single day we don't need it ramming down our throats. The people that take no notice are still going to take no notice.

Fairyliz · 12/02/2021 19:48

I’m just think about how much these useless adverts are costing. The people who follow the rules will just feel guilty the ones that don’t won’t give a shit.
I’m another one who shouts fuck off at the tv. They make me want to catch Covid and breath on everyone.
Obviously I won’t!

MinesAPintOfTea · 12/02/2021 19:49

I have health anxiety. I am always more restricted than the rules permit... and avoiding the news in the hope of not having a breakdown. I wish I didn’t have to see the adverts!

popgoestyeweasel · 12/02/2021 19:49

@NorbertMeubles

I just shout FUCK OFF at the telly. And, yes I could look them in they eye.
Same
MissMarpleDarling · 12/02/2021 19:52

I know one of the people in the advert she is still in hospital.

Sadsiblingatsea · 12/02/2021 19:53

It’s a ridiculous advert and I just switch it off every time I hear it.

Seriouslymole · 12/02/2021 19:54

They make me want to go out and lick everyone. They have totally the opposite effect for me. Don’t make me feel guilty just make me feel very rebellious!
