Apologies if this has been asked before as the story was out yesterday. I did search and couldn’t find it.

I think the actor said some really stupid things and I don’t agree with her politics but I haven’t seen anything that crossed the line. The worse thing seems to have been comparing hating someone for their political beliefs to the persecution of the Jews in Germany- which is monumentally dumb, but that just reads to me like they’re not an intelligent person rather than anti-jewish.

Opinions?

I’m also a big fan of Clint Eastwood who comes across as a right wing nut but I don’t think anyone is going to cancel him. I wonder if there’s a level of fame you need to say dumb things.

If they then said "And I'm adding the following prayer to my twitter biog as an act of support," I'd say "Brilliant - they must feel really supported to have such a thoughtful sibling." If, however they then said "And you must also add this prayer to your Twitter biog to show you're also on side," well, I might be tempted to put a link to "Life of Brian" in there instead.

I view compelled pronouns in much the same way.

I don’t think that is accurate. During the Red Scare when communists were being sacked in the US and on watch lists as possible Soviet spies most regular people were outraged then, they just were powerless to do anything about it. It’s not that a balance has shifted from left to right, it’s that things are out of balance when intolerance for left or right becomes so extreme that people lose their livelihoods and careers over personal political opinions.

I’m selfishly gutted because I loved Cara Dune!

Gina doesn’t exactly come across as the sharpest tool in the box on Twitter, and she rather clumsily tried to say something on Twitter that was (inevitably) read without nuance and in the worse possible light.

Her views and mine are about a million miles apart, but I don’t like a woman getting dropped from a show for clumsy tweets. Not when men can be actual abusers and carry on regardless for decades.
