AIBU to expect heating to be on?

Me & DD's are spending our days at my FIL house for the next couple of weeks while some work is being done on our house.

We're having meals here, but I brought all the food with us, and I'm doing him dinner every day too.

It's absolutely freezing in his house! Youngest DD is sitting under a duvet in the spare room, and oldest is wearing her gloves to do her homework. There is snow on the ground outside. I asked him (politely) if we could put the heating on - he says it'll come on automatically if it goes below 16.5 degrees!

AIBU to think this is too bloody cold? He just shrugged and said that we should wear more clothes!

In your shoes I would just turn up the thermostat by a degree.
My PIL have their house at 25 all year!!!! When we are there and boiling our nuts off, I just adjust it to about 22, they never notice.

I’m hardly outdoors. I’ll happily swim in cold lakes and the sea and have cold showers in the morning.
Like a bracing cold walk.
I just don’t want to be actually cold in my own home.

They’re not like this in Scandinavian countries. Heating on full blast. I think it’s a British thing..

Hardy not hardly

Yes, being cold in your own house is miserable. Heating on all day here today. I went for a run in-1 with an extra wind chill after work, so I'm not nesh.

Haven’t RTFT, just a few pages and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m clearly a lizard. I can’t function in the same temperature range as lots of folk here 😂😂

Well OP has not posted since Tuesday so guess she is warm and cosy now. Which is good news. @Glitterinthegrey

She’s probably died of hypothermia @justasking111 😂😂😂

Anyone fancies a heated blanket (super warm, super cheap to run) Aldi have them back in next week (in magazine) . I got one before Xmas and it's brilliant. Bargain at £35.
