Fashion group on FB sending screenshots to a members MLM 'employer'

Dogscanteatonions · 08/02/2021 12:30

There's a large FB group called Fashion Forward Bitch (run by Totes Inappropes the blogger) - the admin can be very ummm...forthright and woe betide anyone who disagrees with them. It's very cliquey.

A member put this post up - she's a MLM seller and quite rightly MLM is banned on there, I imagine she was questioning a post removal or something. m.facebook.com/groups/fashionforwardb/permalink/2830861680458984/

Anyway it's led to a right pile on on the post and one of the admin has now sent screenshots to Body Shop at Home of the disagreement. I think this is awful behaviour on the part of admin and not the way to deal with things. It makes for very unpleasant reading.

I don't agree with MLM companies at all and I know it's not a proper employer as such but still the woman may rely on the income.

Admin have been putting up screenshots from the private messages - obviously not of what admin have said though so it's one sided.

AIBU in thinking this is a terrible way to admin a group?

It’s a private group so can’t see the post in question. Sorry.

GabriellaMontez · 08/02/2021 12:39

Yabu.
The rules of the group are very clear.

Someone broke the rules. When they weren't changed to suit her she sent personal, offensive PM's to the group admin.

We should all be very careful what we put in writing. She wasnt and there may be consequences for her.

millymoo1202 · 08/02/2021 12:40

I’m in the group, I’ll have to go and have a snoop! Some of the admins are awful, if you don’t agree then you are made a complete fool of, it’s not nice that’s for sure

Ah ok. Anyway I think it's wrong to air admin issues in public on the group with screenshots of private messages. It just leads to a pile on. And messaging the employer is not on. If I said fuck off to someome in my private life on fb I wouldn't expect them to go to my employer!

I left that group and her running one too ages ago because of the behaviour of the admins.

The woman’s behaviour may have been rude but you don’t go running to their employer to tell tales even if it is MLM.

The admins do seem to hang up and yes heaven forfend you disagree with them - everyone then jumps on you!

I'm also pretty certain they laugh behind the back of some regular posters

Conundrumofsorts · 08/02/2021 12:46

They all sound power crazed threatening mean girls.

GabriellaMontez · 08/02/2021 12:49

How would you know this?

Snookie00 · 08/02/2021 12:50

@Dogscanteatonions. You should definitely expect them to go to your employer if you were acting on behalf of your employer/ promoting your employers products and then told someone to fuck off.

Not read the thread as I’m not a member but if the Bodyshop “employer” broke the group rules by trying to promote her MLM scam and then told one of the group admins to fuck off then she deserves to have it called out. Doubt Bodyshop will care as they have thousands of gullible fools trying to flog their products.

OfaFrenchmind2 · 08/02/2021 12:55

I cannot see the posts, but MLM sellers are a plague and need to be cut off very quickly, because they are persistent and multiply like lust crazed rabbits. So the response may be nuclear, but all in all could be justified to keep a space safe from "Girl boss" bots that reek of desperation.

DaphneBridgerton · 08/02/2021 13:04

It's not very nice but any MLM "employer" or "line manager" would likely encourage this type of behaviour anyway (posting links in groups etc) so I wouldn't worry too much about it

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 08/02/2021 13:11

Anything that discourages MLMers from spamming groups is good in my book.

Dogscanteatonions · 08/02/2021 13:15

Thing is the group admin behave just as badly don't know why they're on their high horses!

Because it's their group! If they have gone to the trouble of setting up a group and checking the posts, then why should they put up with people flouting the rules and being abusive to them? Their behaviour isn't really an issue, given that anyone can choose to join the group or not and they are only acting on their own behalf (presumably, I am not a member, so can't see it, but have seen similar in groups that I am on! If you want to join in, then fine, but if you want to disrupt the group then stay away.)

Hey! I’m in that group. Yes, it’s cliquey but what group isn”t to an extent. It costs nothing to join and nothing to leave.

These are the messages that were sent to the admin. Obvs I’ve blanked their names out. I know her and I know she wouldn’t have replied as that would have wound the MLM bots up more.

Ummmm can still read the names really clearly here
MadameButterface · 08/02/2021 14:06

No sympathy for the woman, i admin a fb group with a strict zero tolerance of mlm huns and the level of pissing and moaning and emotional blackmail and harassment when you remove someone is completely draining. These women are like the terminator, they absolutely do not stop. Also people who think they can tell admin how to run the group - no. Other fb groups are available if you don’t like it.

Those aren't messages sent by the OP on the post - those are messages sent by two other members who had commented on the post saying admin were wrong to behave like that.

I'm not saying those messages are ok - not at all but those aren't the messaged sent by the original OP.

I’m truly sick of the insidiousness of MLMs. They insert themselves into everything. A couple of people I know have been really kicked when they’re down by MLM huns suggesting their stupid oils will help with fertility issues or their shitty shakes will aid them recovering from a double mastectomy.

I’m pretty sure if I was inappropriate on the internet while representing my company that my boss would hear about it. Shouldn’t be any different for MLMs. We actually have a very clear and strict social media policy at work and it can be classed as gross incompetence if you misrepresent the company directly or indirectly.

There should be much stricter regulations for these so called ‘direct sales’ companies.

ThatsnotmyBorishishairistoneat · 08/02/2021 14:21

Why are any of you in what sounds like an awful group? Not to mention itscalled fashion forward bitches ewww

VivaDixie · 08/02/2021 14:26

I used to be in her running group bit left because of the admins jumping on posts. I follow her Totes Inappropropes group,I largely agree with most of her opinions but blimey if you disagree you are lynched, named and shamed.
She lives near me and sees herself as a mini celebrity. She has people fawning over her and are they all appear proud to have whatever tenuous connection to her. All a bit sycophantic

NotFabulousDarling · 08/02/2021 14:28

It depends on the rules of the group. Most groups have a rule about no screenshotting contents of the group or sharing it outside the group. If they have that rule, admins should be following it.
Otherwise, if it's a group with a no spam rule and this CF person is spamming the group then has the neck to bitch when she gets her posts deleted, she deserves what she gets, although I've never seen any group go thermonuclear like that. Spam wrecks groups.
Honestly though, I don't know why so many people stay in groups that are bitchy, cliquey, "I am ADMIN GOD and you shall BOW TO ME" type groups. I've seen tons of that egocentric drama in breastfeeding groups and I just leave after having a go at particularly jumped-up admins at times

Snookie00 · 08/02/2021 14:28

Wow. Those comments in the screen shits are so nasty and juvenile. Anyone else interested to see what the MLM bot actually wrote to the admin?

I was in that running group too but left for similar reasons. I only start in the fashion group because they're are some people with fabulous style and I love seeing the outfits.

I occasionally read her blog but yes anytime who disagrees is leaped on - you simply can't have your own say. She is so unrepentant if she's wrong and won't back down.

The other week she posted about feeding horses - lots of people quite rightly said please don't and stated the numerous reasons. Her continued response was "there were signs up last year saying what you could feed them" (not entirely sure I even believe that as what horse owner would put up such signs - it's also how you feel them not what which can cause major issues) She just would not back down

I was kicked out of this group around Christmas time for being "transphobic"

I got seriously piled on and then kicked out. The admin was a bundle of fun...
