Because I refuse to believe that those appalling men would have spoken to another man the way they attempted to shout her down. She handled herself so beautifully.

Frankly I think she deserves to be Dame Jackie Weaver for services to common sense!

It’s true Ashley was re-instated but they did schedule the follow-up meeting to include Jackie Weaver even after they voted for him to return. Perhaps she could join as the Proper Officer? I’ve only read part of the standing orders so far but it sound like Clerk and Proper Officer can be two separate roles.

I don’t think they will allow the whole world to join real-time (and anyway it would break Zoom) but I do hope it’s published online quickly after the meeting.

HeronLanyon · 11/02/2021 19:49

Agree the world and her dog can’t attend.

Could it maybe be broadcast live on big screens somewhere with socially distanced crowds quiet crowds ?

Or maybe the tv schedules cleared for it ?

Wouldn’t a full football stadium be great - we could do a Mexican (actually Detroit was the first I think) wave for JW if she is there.

Deffo flights of fantasy (and fancy) there.

hannayeah · 11/02/2021 20:21

@HeronLanyon

Broadcast would be amazing.

I also think it would be nice going forward if they just mute the people being disrespectful so that we can watch their faces when they realize their bad behavior will no longer be tolerated.

Suspect Tolver don’t have his seat long.

Anyone know how chairman is selected? Is that position nominated by the council from the members or do the people in the Parish also vote for a Chairman?

But did you READ THEM, READ THEM AND UNDERSTAND THEM?

I write Standing Orders. It's remarkable my vagina hasn't sealed itself shut in protest at such unfeminine behaviour!

Apparently at my organisation's Executive Team meeting they've voted for Jackie to be our next CEO. Cruelly they don't mean it, as she'd knock the current one into next week in every respect.

hannayeah · 11/02/2021 21:33

@Theromanempire

Oh I’m just an unqualified member of the public. And female at that. I couldn’t possibly understand The standing orders! Grin

borntobequiet · 11/02/2021 23:20

I’m sure there’s potential in a TV programme - I’m a Parish Councillor Get Me Out Of Here.
Tea and biscuits might be involved.

Nith · 12/02/2021 10:14

I'd like to see the rest of Andrew Lloyd Webber's opera. I'm imagining Brewerton as the Judas figure with Tolver as Herod.

I thought it was hilarious that Brewerton shouted at her about understanding the standing orders. She probably knows them infinitely better than he does, in fact she probably wrote them.

HeronLanyon · 12/02/2021 11:57

Or
‘I’m a celebrity get me out of clerking/chairing/proper officering this parish council meeting’
Or ‘escape from the parish council’
Or ‘Parish council meeting - are you tough enough?’
Of ‘celebrity first parish council meetings’
I could go on !

HeronLanyon · 12/02/2021 12:49

Hang on I’ve got it.
‘Love it or leave it’ kirstie would be in charge of trying to sort out handforth (and we could have before and after footage) whilst Phil takes them on a tour of alternative PArish Council meetings. Think cyn and Sue (maybe John and Roger too?) should be the viewers/renovators.

josbd · 20/02/2021 01:32

Generally, men, esp of a certain age, when in groups, often act out in small minded, shrill, whiny, ways, spiteful creatures that they are. In short they are what they accuse women of being. I have never understood why we let them get away with this shit. And it is so so often down to women enabling them, soothing them, saying "there there, it will be alright"

It's about time they were called out on their piss-poor behaviour.

Mxflamingnoravera · 20/02/2021 01:54

I've just learned that I went to the same school as Jackie Weaver, not that has any relevance to any one who did not.

I’d be very proud!
VeniVidiWeeWee · 29/03/2022 22:35

So the Councillor was right after all.

Jackie Weaver had no authority.

JaceLancs · 29/03/2022 22:38

I wonder what Jackie Weaver is up to right now

Viviennemary · 29/03/2022 22:38

She acted incorrectly.
