The mayor in the Handforth Parish Council zoom video has been given a vote of no confidence.

Quite right. His conduct in the other meetings before and afterwards demonstrates that he was hand in glove with Tolver and Brewerton, especially in trying to prevent the meetings happening at all.

I wonder how many people will be watching tonight's meeting, and whether behaviour will be modified. If it IS of course it makes a lie of the comments in the media that they did nothing wrong last time. It will be interesting to see their interaction with the reinstated clerk too.

By the way, I don't know how many posters on this thread are aware of the Cox Report, which was published about three years ago. It sets out the bullying of staff that goes on in the House of Commons. (A similar one was published last year about the House of Lords.) It shows that it's not just local politicians who treat clerks (and other staff) badly.

There was quite a lot of media coverage when it first came out so you may remember that.

If they wanted to raise money for the parish they could charge admission for anyone outside of Handforth. I’d pay.

Anyone else think how extraordinary to be searching the web for the zoom link fir the nest meeting of a parish council of a village I’ve never been to and never will ? Perhaps I’ll just wait until it is posted 😅 not sure it is even tonight. How on earth will they start that meeting and acknowledge all that’s gone on ! Assume Ashley’s finger will be on the nuclear ‘eject’ button ?

You need to request it from the clerk. Although there's no mention of it on the website - I wonder if someone looked at the 2020 calendar as they met on 11 Feb last year? In which case all stand down the excitement.

Ha ha I was momentarily flummoxed but then saw it said tues 11 feb and realised that was last year. Then nkticed all of the cancelled meetings last year !

@HeronLanyon - this is so true! Trying to imagine a year ago answering the question “what are you doing tonight?” with “well, it’s the Handforth parish council meeting, so have got wine and popcorn in ready for it”.

I too would pay. Money could go to a better flower display contract (eg one where they actually water the things) or was that from the Frodsham town council video (yes there are others and yes I watched 2).

Last February they were discussing the panto, led by the ever-reliable John Smith. In a moment of cross-party co-operation Aled Brewerton seconded the motion to fund two (not three) performances of Dick Whittington in November. They were going to aim for three in 2021. I can only assume Handforth never saw Dick.

In the last meeting I think they actually set it for Feb 10th because Jackie wasn’t available Feb 11th. She has interviews.

Also, she’s happily married so my idea about her and Roger isn’t possible.

I remember seeing them set the next meeting for Feb 10th, but in an interview with Cllr John Smith (❤️❤️❤️😂) he said the next one was Wed 17th. Wonder if they've rearranged it?

That really made me laugh (in between checking my non existant Covid diary to see if I’m free wed 17th and mulling over the frisson on screen (start if prequel meeting) between jw and Roger (kind of sad to think they may not meet again on zoom not that we would want further need for her presence obvs) . . .

Surely we will not be seeing Jackie Weaver again as Ashley is back in post. I do find myself wondering whether there are other opportunities to see Jackie in action. I may stalk the ChALC website to find out.
