Because I refuse to believe that those appalling men would have spoken to another man the way they attempted to shout her down. She handled herself so beautifully.

Frankly I think she deserves to be Dame Jackie Weaver for services to common sense!

I said it yesterday and want a tee shirt with it - I want to be Jackie Weaver when I grow up. I wish I could always keep so cool and calm when people are being aggressive and bullying.

@JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority

That's it - that's the tshirt! "Jackie Weaver is The Authority"
SunsetSenora · 06/02/2021 23:44

And by people, I mean men. Because lets face it, it is usually them who do this kind of thing.

HenriettaHeffalump · 06/02/2021 23:44

Jackie Weaver the opera, for anyone who hasn't seen it:

Onedropbeat · 06/02/2021 23:44

She’s my hero

SnarkyBag · 06/02/2021 23:47

I think she played a blinder. I suspect she was so calm because her aim was to show them up for exactly who they are and like the fools they are they handed it to her on a plate.

Wonderful, clever woman!

RobynNora · 06/02/2021 23:47

She’s magnificent and those men an embarrassment. Must remember to channel her when I next meet sexist blokes!

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 06/02/2021 23:49

What I loved so much was that she didn’t fuck about with countless warnings like dealing with toddlers (although they were indeed behaving like toddlers) and tolerate loads of crap before finally taking action. She just went straight for the big red button. And she didn’t attempt to explain herself either. She just carried on with the meeting. You very rarely see that.

She said on Sky News she knew the meeting was going to be difficult, but not quite that bad! I think someone who had attended hundreds of these meetings over 30 years knew how to manage people like this though, yes.

Arobase · 06/02/2021 23:52

@Viviennemary

It's for the electorate to decide who represents them at meetings. Not Jackie Weaver.
Irrelevant, as the people ejected claimed it wasn't a valid meeting.
bombaychef · 06/02/2021 23:53

I sit on various governor and council type bodies. The clerks are the back bone of it all. A little known profession. JW was a fabulous example of that. I've also seen clerks pull emotional females in to line. I watched the clip and various interviews and love her for all she stands for

BenoneBeauty · 06/02/2021 23:54

Jackie Weaver is my new hero! She's fab!

Arobase · 06/02/2021 23:55

Props also to Sue, who was the only sane voice amongst the councillors at the January meeting, and still managed to keep calm, measured and factual and insist on having her say to three oafs who were determined not to listen.

SunsetSenora · 06/02/2021 23:57

And yay to the two teenagers who unearthed this and shared it in the first place, since it is from last year.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 06/02/2021 23:59

It’s only from December just past.

IdblowJonSnow · 07/02/2021 00:01

She was awesome but what if she hadn't stayed calm but had lost her temper? Who could blame her in the face of that?!
I'm so glad these men have been publicly exposed for what they are.

wellahair · 07/02/2021 00:01

I would love to know more about her, how did she become a Jackie Weaver who beat those despicable misogynistic bullies and showed the world who they really are. I wish she could write a book about it step by step because I would have lost my cool or probably started to cry from frustration on what the fck I've just encountered.

Yes, December 2020, so approx two months ago. Not much unearthing involved I don't think, but my God I'm glad they posted it and then some comedian redacted it to make it shorter so more people watched it etc etc.
FluffyLamkins · 07/02/2021 00:15

It reminds me of the meetings I attend at work with our trade unions. In that situation it’s both men and women who get shouty, although they tend not to shout at my male boss. I shall need to channel my inner Jackie Weaver.

She's amazing! She really pulled them up for their behaviour in the January meeting

Can you point to procedural legislation here? Genuinely interested. My understanding was that 2 or 3 councillors used their position, and The Law backing it, to go over and above Tozer (sp?) because of the stance he was taking. Thus they involved a higher level of 'local council' to do this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2021 00:19

I think it was Tolver.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2021 00:20

Does anyone have a link to the January meeting? I looked but couldn't find one.

edwinbear · 07/02/2021 00:22

I’d love her to come and run some of my work meetings. She’s a woman who gets shit done.
