Because I refuse to believe that those appalling men would have spoken to another man the way they attempted to shout her down. She handled herself so beautifully.

Frankly I think she deserves to be Dame Jackie Weaver for services to common sense!

Parts of mn and national grid show decreased surfing etc as millions are I’d to be glued to screens Grin.

My faves - jw hair flicks at start of prequel. Finding out more about Cyn. Renewed respect for Alan who is sensible and has ideas and is just all-round lovely. John’s moustache and wallpaper (sequel). Roger. Always Roger.

JaimeLeeCurtains · 08/02/2021 14:59
Sequel - meeting of 21 January. Last 25 mins or so has good synopsis of history. And updates.
Thank you. From 50 minutes is very informative.

Do you think we could ask them to record future meetings on gallery setting instead? It would be easier to follow...

Theromanempire · 08/02/2021 16:23

Am I the only one who is desperate to watch the next Parish Council meeting which is planned for this Wednesday night?? Can you imagine the discussions they will have now they are all famous? Grin

@Anniegetyourgun

In the words of the late Mandy Rice-Davies: He would, wouldn't he?
🤣😂🤣

They’ve had the extraordinary meeting, see post at 14.59
Theromanempire · 08/02/2021 16:35

Yes I watched that and it ended with them arranging the next meeting for Wednesday 11 Feb. Obviously in between, the story has hit the headlines but surely the meeting is still going ahead this week?

As an aside, Cllr Smith suits his moustache! And do we know how Cyn's husband is?

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/02/2021 16:42

@HeronLanyon thank you so much Flowers

@Dailyhandtowelwash

Everyone ‘believes’ Jackie Weaver because this meeting is part of a much bigger story which has been well documented.

Mr Tolver did not want the council to meet because he had refused to call a meeting since he, Aled’s iPhone and Mayor Barry had got together privately (no concerns about leaving his fellow councillors’ constituents unrepresented at that point) to sack the clerk, a move that has since been rescinded. He had then declared himself to be the clerk, which is simply not allowed. All this is a matter of record. Complaints had been made against him and his fellow councillors well in advance of this meeting.

Jackie Weaver was there to see the lawful council meeting go ahead. Mr Tolver was refusing to hold that meeting at the start of the zoom call, which he was not entitled to do. That is why he was removed - in pursuit of democracy.

So good to see a few people here getting to the real cause of the problems with this parish council.
Ballstothis148 · 08/02/2021 16:58

What was with the guy that screamed to her to read the ordnances or whatever?! No amount of context justifies that really boorish/ scary outrage. Pretty much all the men seemed awful (on the short edit), hope they’re all chucked off the council. Funny as a video, but not a way to operate in public or private office

hannayeah · 08/02/2021 17:10

@Marinaloves

Does Jean Thomson exist!!! Is that who aled was shouting at in the background
Egad! Someone should call for a welfare check on Jean.

Am I the only one tickled that they put her on the employment committee then claim she doesn’t have the stomach for these types of things!

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 08/02/2021 17:36

I genuinely hope someone has checked on Aled’s wife.
The way he spoke to her was unbelievable. And he dad sat there and listened. Utter cretinous twits

Roussette · 08/02/2021 17:39

It could have been his mother, not his wife. Either way it was appalling.

Bertiebiscuit · 08/02/2021 17:40

Good on Ms Weaver - men need to be shown up for their lousy misogynist behaviour every damned time until they stop behaving like 2 year olds and start respecting women

DagenhamRoundhouse · 08/02/2021 17:46

Bored old farts probably used to a degree of authority in their (long ago) jobs who think they're entitled to laugh at a woman. Really showed themselves up.

LApprentiSorcier · 08/02/2021 17:49

If someone said to me 'I'm trying to have a Zoom meeting, you fool!' I would turn the router off.

Not unreasonable at all! Just pity we can't shut some men up in real life like that

Can we all attend that Zoom meeting please?
redpencil77 · 08/02/2021 18:02

@Arobase

Well, even the BBC are letting him explain his side of the story, so I don't know how it can be so clear to everyone who is in the wrong here

Because, for the reasons I set out above, it is perfectly clear that having been given that opportunity he is, shall we say, economising to a rather major extent with the facts. His own conduct demonstrates that. But, yet again, @trulydelicious, you choose to ignore posts you find inconvenient because you can't answer them.,

Because the BBC are anti female and anti feminist assertiveness
LApprentiSorcier · 08/02/2021 18:08

I bet the whole of Handforth will be tuning into their next meeting.

letsleepingbabieslie · 08/02/2021 18:10

Jackie Weaver IS the authority.

Hettya · 08/02/2021 18:11

She was quite fabulous. Calm and measured despite those revolting childish men.

max1000Ad · 08/02/2021 18:17

That is great news. Women should speak up. I am a male my hero is my three grandmothers mother.Some male think that my hero should be a male. I told no way it will stand my are my grandmother also my mother are very bests hero for me. Do you agree.

Skysblue · 08/02/2021 18:18

Seen q fee people saying that parish councillors are “elected.” They wre supposed to be, but I’ve never lived anywhere that’s had an election. Normlly they are ‘coopted’ ie no-one else wants to do it and they volunteer. There are
