He did more in his last year than most of us manage in a lifetime.

Truly a life well lived.

I feel really sad. Stupid as no sadder than anybody else dying of Covid and he’s had a long life but he was such a fab person during lockdown 1. He seemed So stoic, modest and a lovely guy. So sad that he died from covid.

I saw last night on the BBC news app that his family were with him in hospital and thought that it was obviously only a matter of time as families are only allowed in in extreme circumstances.

It really is a shame that it had to be COVID.

Peace after an exceptional life. Rip Sir Tom.

So sad, I hope he's getting a hero's welcome up there, what a phenomenal man. I'm glad he had that last hurrah in Barbados too.

A life well lived from what we can gather. He seemed to be a lovely man who had lived a good life.

It's a shame covid had to be the way it finished. I hope it was calm and peaceful, and with his family close by.

So bloody sad. And covid too. RIP Sir, my thoughts are with your family.

I feel very sad about this, but I've already seen some unpleasant types posting about him on other threads. Why? Just why do people feel the need to do that?
I do hope that he has perhaps made some people re-think the unfortunate mindset that deaths of older people in this pandemic don't seem to matter as much. Just think of how much he achieved in just his last year.

I've cried. There was a man who showed that you could achieve great things at any age and yes, a life well-lived. RIP Captain Sir Tom.
