He did more in his last year than most of us manage in a lifetime.

Truly a life well lived.

Ah how sad that he didn't get to see an end to all this post vaccinations etc (if indeed there is an end in sight) He would've loved that and deserved to enjoy seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully he died knowing there is some hope for us all now. I keep hearing the words of Major Tom David Bowie now Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 02/02/2021 17:47

God bless him and comfort his family. RIP good sir, you served your Country well to the very last.

Another member of 'The Greatest Generation' gone.

Shamelessnamechange9 · 02/02/2021 17:50

The poor soul.

A 100 year old man goes into hospital and is treated for pneumonia but because hes tested positive for Covid, it's all about that.

Our one sided m mainstream media and our government continues with their propaganda. It truly is disgusting.

willowmelangell · 02/02/2021 17:51

Goodnight Mr Tom.
RIP

Felifox · 02/02/2021 17:54

Condolences to his family. Despite his age he was very upbeat about life getting better for people and living life to the full. He will have left happy memories behind for his family and was an inspiration to many in dark days.

yvanka · 02/02/2021 17:54

Thedogscollar · 02/02/2021 18:03

Wonderful, inspiring man, and a reminder not to underestimate old people. RIP Captain Tom.

MarshaBradyo · 02/02/2021 18:06

He was a great reminder of the good in all this

100 years is really something. And what he achieved in last year

Dogonahottinroof · 02/02/2021 18:08

He died with covid. Pneumonia killed him.
Are you the coroner? You can't possibly know that.
Daleksatemyshed · 02/02/2021 18:09

A man of great common sense and kindness, may he rest in peace. He left a great legacy for his family, and the rest of us, that with the right attitute age is just a number.

ringydinghy · 02/02/2021 18:09

@MumW

We should instigate a one off national clap - if there is one thing he will be remembered for, it was bring the nation together, so what better way to send him off? 👏👏👏👏
Oh gowd, no more clapping please!
Crankley · 02/02/2021 18:15

It's very sad for the relatives when anyone dies and he did a fantastic thing so they should be very proud. However to call the death of a centenarian 'early' is ridiculous.

FFS No clapping!

RIP Captain Tom. Flowers

addicted2spaniels · 02/02/2021 18:20

I think he deserves more respect than bloody clapping Hmm

What a wonderful life, living each day to the last.

He was a shining light during the gloom of lockdown. His face was a wonder when the spitfires did a fly past for him. I'll never forget that.

Topseyt · 02/02/2021 18:20

RIP Captain Sir Tom. A true legend and an inspirational man.

I am so glad he got to enjoy such a wonderful last holiday in Barbados with his family.

Lovely1a2b3c · 02/02/2021 18:22

@yvanka

He died with covid. Pneumonia killed him.
It was probably Covid pneumonia so Covid probably killed him.

I felt sad hearing the news.

I do think he probably caught it from the flight home from Barbados (he came home on 6th January and was ill for weeks) but I guess if you're going to go at 100 then going after a lovely family holiday and a year where everyone in the country expresses their gratitude for what you've done then that's a nicer way to go!

Slub · 02/02/2021 18:22

Wishing a truly wonderful gentleman sweet dreams for eternity 💐

Littleroundsponge · 02/02/2021 18:23

Rest in peace Captain Sir Tom. What a wonderful, inspiring and selfless man! May he now be back in the arms of loving wife, what a wonderful legacy he has left behind! Flowers

teuer · 02/02/2021 18:30

I was so so sad that his death was from covid. What a wonderful, inspirational man. I hope the love and honours he received over the last year will be a comfort to his family. I’m glad he had them around him when he passed. RIP Captain Tom.

Please no clapping. A two minutes silence would be so much more respectful. Clapping is support for the living
