To ask for a pat on the back RE weight loss - sad about DH's reaction

Since mid-October I have lost a lot of weight (over 4 stone). I have gone from a size 18 to an 8-10.
DH has not said a thing, so yesterday I playfully asked him to feel my back, because all the padding has gone.
The only thing he said was "Ew, your skin has changed, it is like old lady's skin". (FYI I am 39 and there is no loose skin hanging off my body).

I am feeling crushed. It has made me realise that I cannot even remember the last time he complimented me. It is always little digs, little put downs.

Can you please tell me I have done great? Wink

Congratulations, that's a wonderful achievement. Huge well done!! Husband sounds like a clot. Ignore. You should rightly feel very proud of yourself for doing this - it's not easy, and shows real determination.

You’re amazing! I for one am proud of you. In all serious, keep an eye on those comments - as others have said he’s on his toes now

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/02/2021 08:01

Sod him. You have done a wonderful thing for yourself and you are right to be proud. I am sure your Mum would have been delighted for you.
Two possibilities either he feels threatened by your weight loss and so is acting like a dick or he is just a dick all the time (only you know which is more likely).

YouJustDoYou · 01/02/2021 08:01

Sounds like you could also stand to lose a few more stone op (in the form of that dickhead you live with making nasty snide remarks about you. What a tosser)

FluffyBlueJumper · 01/02/2021 08:02

RJnomore1 I am slowly increasing my calories but staying very low carb ATM. I have not lost any weight last month, but I must have put on some muscle because I am losing inches.

sandgrown DH is a normal weight, but he is 8 years older.

Huge well done - very jealous of your iron will and the speedy timeframe. So dispiriting when it takes months to lose a few pounds.

Spending his hard earned money! Fuck off, spending the money you saved on eating how's that? I'm sorry, he sounds like a begrudging prick and you should call him out on it is he the reason you ate yourself into needing to lose 4 stone?

I would honestly love to hear the diet plan. I need to lose 3 stone. I lost a stone and then put it all back on during lockdown/work/dying parent stress.

justoffshift · 01/02/2021 08:05

Are you the woman in the Daily Mail article on weight loss?

TopTabby · 01/02/2021 08:09

He's thoughtless for sure & sounds like a bit of a git. Time for a serious talk with him.
BUT that is rapid weight loss on a very strict diet that is unsustainable. You didn't even have carbs at Christmas, that's not real life is it?
He's a rude, unkind man, no doubt about that but aside from that I would have concerns about your health & mind set following such a strict diet.
Been there, done that & repeat for years before anyone dives in. We all think we'll be the one to keep it off on this magic diet.
He's a prat anyway though.

Well done! An amazing achievement, especially at the moment I think when it’s so easy to turn to food for comfort. You’ve inspired me to put down the cake and go for a walk. Thank you!

Wargghhhh · 01/02/2021 08:22

Incredible! You've done so well - and in such a short space of time as well. I'm in awe! To have that amount of willpower is amazing.

Well done you!

Your husband sounds jealous and not a very nice person unfortunately.

Cornishmaiden · 01/02/2021 08:23

Very well done. Weight loss is fantastic and you deserve lots of congratulations. Ignore him.

Janaih · 01/02/2021 08:24

Wow you look like Lana del Rey. Well done on the weight loss and fitness. Sorry your dh is a prick.

TansyViolet · 01/02/2021 08:25

You've done fantastically. Well done.

Conkergame · 01/02/2021 08:25

Bloody hell OP, that’s amazing! You’ve done SO well! Very impressive!

Your H sounds horrible. I think you need to sit him down and ask him whether he’s jealous or insecure or just plain nasty. Whichever it is, he needs to change his tune or else you’ll be losing even more weight - him! You deserve to be with someone who loves and cherishes you, and is so proud of what you’ve achieved!

HumphreyCobblers · 01/02/2021 08:25

You look amazing.

What a mean man your DH is.

Airyfairymarybeary · 01/02/2021 08:25

Well done! ...,why are you with him?

Marinaloves · 01/02/2021 08:26

What he said was really cruel.
Do you really want to spend your life with someone like that.
And congrats!

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 01/02/2021 08:26

Well done!

Fantastic effort and brilliant outcome!
