To think I could be pregnant so soon after birth?

I had an uncomplicated birth and stopped bleeding one week after, yes both me and my partner were foolish and had unprotected sex 2 weeks exactly after DD’s arrival. 2 weeks later I thought my period had started. Sorry TMI but I had a jelly like discharge tinged with blood. It barely covered a pad but continued for about a day and a half. I had mild cramping too. Then it just stopped completely. It’s now a week and a half later since the discharge and period has not come. Has anyone else had this discharge after pregnancy or does this sound more like implantation? There is no smell or itching so the chemist has told me it doesn’t sound like an infection.

Yes, obviously!

Sexnotgender · 26/01/2021 08:25

Of course you could be.

Hankunamatata · 26/01/2021 08:25

Your at your most fertile just after birth or so friends ivf consultant told her

Hankunamatata · 26/01/2021 08:27

And my friend has two children in the same school year born 10 months apart.

Ileflottante · 26/01/2021 08:36

You are SO fertile after birth. Of course you can be. It really surprises me that people don’t seem to know that?!

My midwife talked to me about contraception and opened it by saying “unless you fancy explaining why you have two kids in the same school year who aren’t twins?” 😱

spidermomma · 26/01/2021 08:40

Well go get a test obviously but you are stupidly crazyyyyily hormonal and at the highest risk ever so soon after giving birth to get pregnant again. X

Minky37 · 26/01/2021 08:43

Yes it’s a possibility- go and do a test!

Pillowcase123 · 26/01/2021 08:43

Did you have unprotected sex? Yes. Were you fertile? Quite likely.

In which case, yes you could be pregnant. Do a test

diversity101 · 26/01/2021 08:44

Of course you could be. It’s normally not recommend to get pregnant so soon after birth to give your body a chance to recover so that’s one of the many reasons it’s pretty uncommon. However it’s totally possible.

Amijustagrump · 26/01/2021 08:47

A friend has a sister 11 months younger than him! Its totally possible, luckily they covered two year groups at school and didn't care!

grannyinapram · 26/01/2021 08:48

11 months here too, but 2 weeks after birth is impressive!

Kilcaple · 26/01/2021 08:49

You had unprotected sex. Of course it’s possible.

peachypetite · 26/01/2021 08:50

Take a test?Confused

BubblyBarbara · 26/01/2021 08:51

Possible and nothing wrong with it at all, it’s what God intended by keeping you fertile. I would expect people to not be in the mood for such activities just after giving birth but nothing surprises me nowadays

Thatwentbadly · 26/01/2021 08:52

Yes it was stupid to have sex when you have a huge internal wound from a placenta. Even more stupid to have unprotected sex if you didn’t want a another bay. Obviously the only answer is to take a pregnancy test. Just go and buy one.

FelicityPike · 26/01/2021 08:53

@Kilcaple

You had unprotected sex. Of course it’s possible.
Exactly. It baffles me how many times posts like this are written. If you have unprotected sex you can get pregnant. Especially shortly after giving birth when you’re super fertile. This isn’t brand new information. Buy a test @Jennifer998
Norwayreally · 26/01/2021 08:55

It’s actually a myth that you’re more fertile just after giving birth. If you breastfeed it’s unlikely you’re fertile at all but even if you FF, the majority of women don’t ovulate for at least 6 weeks postpartum. Of course it’s possible that you defied this and ovulated a fortnight after you gave birth so you should test but it’s a long-standing myth that women are ‘more fertile’ after giving birth.

lioncitygirl · 26/01/2021 09:02

Of course you could be Confused

firstimemamma · 26/01/2021 09:06

My friend's friend got pregnant with number 2 the first time they had sex after number 1 was born. It's possible.

user1493494961 · 26/01/2021 09:08

I know someone with a 7 month age gap as her second child was premature.

ghostyslovesheets · 26/01/2021 09:40

Two ways to reliably find out if you are pregnant- take a test OR ask random strangers on line if you are 🙄
Ffs you had unprotected sex so yes you might be pregnant

Thatwentbadly · 26/01/2021 10:40

@ghostyslovesheets, I suppose she could also wait 38 weeks and see if a baby pops out.

HighSpecWhistle · 26/01/2021 10:42

I'm really sorry to rub salt in the wound but what were you thinking? What a silly thing to do.

You'll have to wait and take a pregnancy test.

WINKINGatyourage · 26/01/2021 10:46

No, you can’t possibly be pregnant after having unprotected sex during your most fertile time. Don’t be ridiculous.

LadyEloise · 28/01/2021 12:44

Did you take a test @Jennifer998 ?
