To think I could be pregnant so soon after birth?

I had an uncomplicated birth and stopped bleeding one week after, yes both me and my partner were foolish and had unprotected sex 2 weeks exactly after DD’s arrival. 2 weeks later I thought my period had started. Sorry TMI but I had a jelly like discharge tinged with blood. It barely covered a pad but continued for about a day and a half. I had mild cramping too. Then it just stopped completely. It’s now a week and a half later since the discharge and period has not come. Has anyone else had this discharge after pregnancy or does this sound more like implantation? There is no smell or itching so the chemist has told me it doesn’t sound like an infection.

There ar so many threads where people say ‘I had unprotected sex - could I be pregnant?’ Yes of course you could be! It is less likely if you ape exclusively breastfeeding but still perfectly possible,

In fairness to the OP, I have a 4yo and 1yo and no one has ever mentioned being more fertile or sex after delivery. Both times I waddled out of the hospital with no more than a cheery "bye!" from the midwives there and at my 6 week checks the GP offered to put me on contraception but didn't make a thing of it. I did find it weird especially as I'd had a c section the second time and wasn't even offered any advice on when I could try again. I mean, I did obviously research all this info and it is readily available online but I certainly wasn't told!

Happens a lot 9 or 10 months between kids
My sisters were 10 months difference

@MissMarpleDarling

Do midwives not do the sex talk anymore telling you how fertile you are?!
Maybe they've learnt basic facts, and so they don't? 'How fertile' = myth

Had infertility

This is correct, but is very different to 'you're at your most fertile after having a baby'.

It does seem that on occasion, after birth via IVF it does kick start fertility.

That doesn't mean the same as you're v fertile straight after giving birth. You're not. You're the same fertile as any other time. However, women literally forget this in their post-partum exhaustion, won't know when they're due to ovulate or their periods return, and that's why they get pregnant, unexpectedly. Hence the advice from health professionals.

It's not because you are any more fertile after having a baby tho.

@ExitChasedByABear pretty well! She was married and yes lots of family support. They are all grown now and lovely adults

AwFeebs · 29/01/2021 10:39

Not impossible. I had sex 4 weeks PP and got pregnant with DD. Blush

Just take a test then you can put your mind at rest.

Exactly.
It baffles me how many times posts like this are written.
If you have unprotected sex you can get pregnant. Especially shortly after giving birth when you’re super fertile. This isn’t brand new information.

It baffles me as well. If you have unprotected sex, then you can get pregnant.
It's like women who "accidentally" got pregnant yet didn't use any protection. If you didn't use anything then it wasn't an accident.

Sorry, little rant there lol

It's highly possible but only a test can tell you
