Jason Miller says on Fox News that Trump is in a "great" mood, believes the impeachment managers will be easily rebutted but concedes "there are a few things we need to tighten up" when it comes to Trump's legal team.

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2021 19:10

GOP senators appeared distracted during Dems’ presentation. Rand Paul doodled a picture of the Capitol. Rick Scott was studying what appeared to be a map of Southeast Asia. Mike Braun at times appeared to be struggling to stay awake. @elizacollins1

DGRossetti · 10/02/2021 19:10

It reminds me of when Jacob Rees Mogg lay out on one of the HoC benches and pretended to go to sleep when someone was speaking.

Or when anyone from the SNP speaks.

Time for a break, need to charge my phone. I will catch up later

NotaRealLawyer · 10/02/2021 19:27

Ted Lieu Impeachment Manager.
"How did we get to this point? "
"Donald Trump ran out of non violent options to maintain power."

prettybird · 10/02/2021 19:30

"President Trump ran out of non violent ways to maintain power"

That's it in a nutshell.

Roussette · 10/02/2021 20:12

Stacey Plaskett is absolutely nailing it. Absolutely shocking some of the posts and info she is highlighting

Post after post about storming the Capitol by his supporters

She's doing a great job linking up the Proud Boys, and individuals, to past events, Trump, and Jan 6 Roussette.

Emerging from my Lurkers Lair here.
Part 1 of a new series on on BBC2 tonight at 9:00pm , Trump Takes On The World if you can bear to watch anymore of him.

NotaRealLawyer · 10/02/2021 20:31

Thanks for the heads up whiteroom, just putting it on record.

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2021 20:38

Dean: "In a speech spanning almost 11,000 words — yes, we did check — that was the one time, the only time, President Trump used the word peaceful or any suggestion of non-violence."

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2021 20:41

.@RepDean breaks down the actual 1/6 speech: Trump made one reference to being "peaceful," and 20 to "fight" or "fighting." File that away for when the defense replays this speech and highlights the one call for peaceful march.

prettybird · 10/02/2021 20:55

You can just picture Trump's hastily put together legal team frantically scoring out more and more of their defence as the Impeachment managers lay out their case so methodically.

"Can't use that....Oh, can't use that....Oops, they've addressed that" Confused

After watching Castro's apparently hastily re-worked and waffly statement yesterday, I'm almost looking forward to see what the Defence team come up with when they get their turn Grin

And yes, I know that the strength of the impeachment's legal case has almost zilch effect on the final result because the jury includes Trump's co conspirators Sad

minou123 · 10/02/2021 20:56

What shocked me the most is the information about the permit.

I did not know that the protest permit had not been granted until after Trump tweeted about the march. And that once the permit was granted it was very clear the protest could not go beyond the Elipse.

As the organiser Trump was fully aware of this.
As a seasoned protester, I know some protests can go a bit wrong and people end up places they shouldn't be. But, never have I seen an organiser tell the group to go outside the permit.
And he did.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/02/2021 21:01

Wouldn't he be able deny having been the organiser, and produce the people who actually applied for the permit? In which case Amy Kremer cops for it, doesn't she:

The "March to Save America" and rally that preceded the riots at the Capitol were initially organized by Women for America First, a 501(c)(4) organization chaired by Amy Kremer, co-founder of Women for Trump. They obtained a permit with an estimated attendance of 5,000.

minou123 · 10/02/2021 21:09

He could give it a go. But the minute he decided to speak at the march, the White House became involved in organising the march.
It was they who decided who spoke when, the music to play, etc.
There are also reports that the Trump Campaign paid for parts of the march/rally.

DGRossetti · 10/02/2021 21:12

Would President Trump be subject to a civil suit on behalf of those injured and killed ?

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2021 21:18

Senate trial back from a brief recess. Raskin warns senators and viewers that there is some "violent" and "graphic" video coming next

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 10/02/2021 21:20

...the audio is what's getting me.

lionheart · 10/02/2021 21:22

Hello whiteroom.

lionheart · 10/02/2021 21:25

Is that zip tie guy lionheart? Not surprised. Horrible reading that. I hope he spends a lot of time in prison.

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2021 21:41

The new video of the VP and his family being hustled out of danger as the siege was underway affirms what we were told by Pence aides in the days following Jan 6. VP’s aides were very worried about his safety that day. They were angry Trump put the VP in jeopardy
