DSS and disgusting habit

TheSpottedDog · 24/01/2021 13:38

DSS (22) has a habit of performance farting. I hate farting at the best of times but he literally walks around cocking his leg and farting, squatting and farting, bending over and sticking his bum out to fart, star jumping and farting, legs akimbo on the sofa farting ... it fucking irritates me. When DH and I first got together he used to laugh at him (he was 15 then) and I spoke with him and told him it really bothered me and I find it disrespectful. We had an argument over it but eventually he saw my point and would ask him to stop when he did it. He toned it down for a while but then started it up again. Whenever he comes over I just end up going upstairs to get away from him because it winds me up so much.
The only good thing about lockdown is that he hasn’t been coming over on Saturday nights and I’m absolutely dreading the return of this shit.

AIBU to tell DH that his son is almost 23 years old now and if he can’t stop himself acting like a young child I’d rather him not come over?

OP posts:

It’s ridiculous that you leave the room in your own house, time to put your foot down. Why have his parents encouraged this kind of behaviour, they haven’t done him any favours.

grapewine · 24/01/2021 17:11

Have you asked your partner why he thinks this is acceptable behaviour?

I wondered this as well. The house is your home, too. This would really upset me, if I'm honest. So disrespectful of you.

Wheresmykimchi · 24/01/2021 17:12

@MissyB1

It’s definitely arrogant/ dominant behaviour. He’s trying to show OP that no one can tell him what to do. The immature brat needs putting in his place.
No, OP does if she thinks she can control what they do (ie the boot example) along with PP who think he should leave
SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/01/2021 17:15

That is just disgusting.

I wouldn't let him come over and I'd tell your DP why.

Does he do this in public? At his girlfriend's/boyfriend's home? At work? I'll bet he doesn't, the dirty bugger!

Get an air freshener and squirt it over him.

Every.

Effing.

Time.

What a pig!

You can't not LET your partner's son come over. Confused

@CheesePleaz

Am I the only one that finds the OP's description of a man star jumping, scissor kicking and pirouetting his way around the house with a steady stream of musical parps slightly funny?

Was I the only South Park fan in the late 1990s?

No! Thank God someone else is on my wavelength albeit one disapproved by all apparently!

I’m laughing my head off! Remember Terrance and Phillipe?
It is gross but it’s funny too (I get the amusement factor would wear off quickly if it was my ds though!)

Salty2020 · 24/01/2021 17:24

Star jump farting does sound hilarious though.

Hotzenplotz · 24/01/2021 17:26

Roundhouse him in the arse.

Luckyrabbitfoot · 24/01/2021 17:30

@livefornaps

I would ask him in a concerned way, "oh, did you have some serious hormonal problems as a teenager? It seems that you haven't completed puberty. No wonder no girl wants to go anywhere near that pathetic mushroom-stump excuse for a cock. I read that performative farting is a classic way of consoling yourself for having such a tiny penis"
What. The. Fuck.

???

CleanQueen123 · 24/01/2021 17:31

My mother had an ex that used to do this. He was in his 30s! So unfortunately this kind of behaviour does continue well into adulthood.

It was all for a reaction. Like a toddler or primary school child Hmm

DamsonBramble · 24/01/2021 17:34

I'd just carry on doing that to be honest. If his hilarious farting is more important to him than how you feel about it I'd just do your own thing when he comes over. If that's what he wants then great. He's succeeded

Theunamedcat · 24/01/2021 17:36

Squirt his butt with VIPOO my son has grown out of this behaviour he is 12 (literally a month ago turned 12) separated parents too there is no excuse

BrandoraPaithwaite · 24/01/2021 17:37

Anyone who is finding the trumping descriptions amusing... Search for a thread in AIBU called "To say Dh's farts ruined a day out?" (Sorry can't do a clicky link)

I've got it saved and read it every so often and cry laughing.

Emeraldshamrock · 24/01/2021 17:38

One of these days he'll misjudge his fart and shit himself not in your home but somewhere awkward.
I'm shocked he thinks it is okay.

DuzzyFuck · 24/01/2021 17:39

God he sounds both gross and utterly juvenile. Does he have romantic partners or any interest in them? I can only imagine not, if I'd have met a 'man' like that at 23 my fanny would have slammed shut. Your DH needs to tell him to have some respect in your home, or not to come round any longer.

I know farting is a natural bodily function, but much like using the toilet / dealing with a period personally I think they are one that should be kept discreet where possible. Accidents happen but my general rule of thumb is that if it's bodily function you'd try to avoid openly doing in a boardroom meeting with people you respect then you should equally try not do it on the couch at home in front of people you love and respect.

LindaEllen · 24/01/2021 17:40

We don't mind trumping in this house - if someone needs to do, they can. But to make a spectacle of it is the problem, when he knows OP doesn't like it. And there's a difference trumping in your own home to going to your dad and stepmum's house and acting like that.

Coolieloach · 24/01/2021 17:41

Why don’t you just start farting in his face?

KarensChoppyBob · 24/01/2021 17:42

I*f I'd have met a 'man' like that at 23 my fanny would have slammed shut
*
Grin.

KarensChoppyBob · 24/01/2021 17:43

Bold doesn't like me on this app.

DHdweller · 24/01/2021 17:45

He’s doing it to wind you up, it’s obviously working lol

washitonia · 24/01/2021 17:45

That is grim. Repulsive twit.
I'd make it very clear I found his farting repulsive and not remotely funny.
Surely his father can't find this ok?
I'd get some maximum strength ex lax chocolate and make him a special chocolate dessert each time he visited. Serve it to him and disappear for the evening.

TTCPLEASE · 24/01/2021 17:49

@TheSpottedDog omg im laughing out loud the description of the farts 🤣🤣 i know u must not find it funny I would be annoyed too if done so much plus the smell 🤮🤮 I get annoyed at my husband 32 and he doesnt do it as much as you've described but it pisses me off coz his smell knocks me sick to the point I've said he needs to consider seeing a doctor! And he too forces them out... i would just try ignoring him hes obviously after a reaction and attention. The more you react the more he will do it.

DamsonBramble · 24/01/2021 17:55

Is he intelligent? What sort of comedy does he like? (Other than farting?)

AmandaHoldensLips · 24/01/2021 17:58

Gross. I hope you spray him in the face with Oust every time he does it.
