To let the kids play out at 8am on a Sunday?

There's snow! It won't stick around for long, it's forecast to turn to rain in the next hour and is already starting to disappear. I let the kids out to build a snowman and play from 8, they were nagging from 6:30. They're aren't screaming but are laughing and making general playing noise. They are 3 and 5. It's lovely to see them having a bit of excitement and something different in their bored locked down lives. Is this unreasonable on the neighbours? We live in a private cul de sac with 10 other houses.
Are there really people who would want to deny small children the chance of a little bit of fun? We're usually very good neighbours and snow is a very infrequent occurrence here.

I'd wait an hour unless they are really quiet and angelic. I mean by other people's standards.

Moltenpink · 24/01/2021 08:40

Normally too early but snow is different!!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 24/01/2021 08:40

I was about to say YABU but then I saw there was snow.
That makes it different.
Crack on!

MillieMooBee · 24/01/2021 08:41

I think normally it's perhaps a little early but not with snow! I stuck the cat outside this morning and there were plenty of people about. If anyone is miserable about it then I think they are best ignored x

itoldyouyouwouldntlikeit · 24/01/2021 08:41

I was out with mine at 7 the other week - it was about to rain and the snow would.have vanished

willowsandroses · 24/01/2021 08:42

Not remotely unreasonable. A bit sad so many people think it is.

And I really hope they enjoy it.

MirandaShepherd · 24/01/2021 08:42

No not at all let them go out and play, snow is such a rare thing. I live in a quiet culdesac and I’m surprised I haven’t heard my neighbours children out yet, I may go knock and say I don’t mind incas they’re thinking the same Confused

abouttogoon · 24/01/2021 08:43

We're out, lovely big flakes!

Lindy2 · 24/01/2021 08:44

If there's snow it's ok!

Brieminewine · 24/01/2021 08:44

On a normal day too early, but on a snow day crack on ☃️☃️

Aebj · 24/01/2021 08:45

I would be out with them and would of started the snowball fight. It doesn’t last long and you can be inside with a hot chocolate, with marshmallows later .
My complaint would be , why didn’t you call on me when you first went out❄️⛄️

AStudyinPink · 24/01/2021 08:45

Absolutely fine. It’s lockdown and your kids are enjoying a bit of play in the snow outdoors. You don’t do this every week.

TheSpottedDog · 24/01/2021 08:45

I’m a grumpy arsehole and like peace and quiet but even I would raise a smile at seeing kids playing in snow. And 8am isn’t that early really, it’s not like it’s 6am

TheSpottedDog · 24/01/2021 08:46

Also, I’m jealous of your snow, we haven’t had any so for that alone, YABU 😁

Bmidreams · 24/01/2021 08:47

We're going for 9am. Retired and childfree couples surround us so don't think before then is fair on a Sunday. They will be noisy!

drizzly · 24/01/2021 08:48

Not when there is snow!

EnglishRose1320 · 24/01/2021 08:48

I took my boys out around 8, we've just got in. Walking past some houses I said, 'remember not to be too loud' to which teenage ds replied 'mum I hate being woken up early, but its snowing, that changes everything, you can't be grumpy when it's snowy'

ChooChooCho · 24/01/2021 08:48

We went out at 6:45 this morning, and nextdoor (who don't have children) came out to play with us.
I hate to live near any of these killjoys who seem to only exist on Mumsnet.

ChooChooCho · 24/01/2021 08:48

I would*

Horseradish01 · 24/01/2021 08:50

We have snow and mine have been out since 820! Different rules when there’s snow (in lockdown!)

Minnie16889 · 24/01/2021 08:53

I wouldnt mind at all, especially after the year we have had. I couldnt deny little ones playing in the snow before it goes

StormcloakNord · 24/01/2021 08:54

Noise really bothers me especially early/late in the day but I'd really struggle to get annoyed at kids having fun in the snow!! Let em be!!

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 24/01/2021 08:56

Mine were out at 730 and they're teens! I don't think they've seen 7.30 on a Sunday for years.

Camphillgirl · 24/01/2021 09:01

Retired and older people get up early so don’t worry and they love the sounds of children’s voices. Go for it and let them have some fun.

BejeweledCrocs · 24/01/2021 09:04

Get them out. Little ones having snow fun during shitty times is the best.
