Bloody squirrels

So sat at home today on a day off and noticed a couple of squirrels on the balcony. I think they might be living on the balcony next door as there’s a gap between the two balconies. I’ve rung the housing association abs their going to get pest control to get in touch. But I’m a vegan abs the thought of finding a dead squirrel on the balcony makes me feel a bit queasy 😬.
Any suggestions on how to discourage the buggers. I’m on the second floor.

I'm a Vegan, wait what's that? Ewww a dirty little squirrel, just let me get my gun, to splatter the vicious little fucker.

still Vegan BTW.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 21/01/2021 17:23

My mum doesn't have a net Sad.

HollaHolla · 21/01/2021 17:24

I'm off out for my walk, passing some squirrels, and shouting 'Fuck your mums net.' I think it will go well.

grumpygiraffe · 21/01/2021 17:30

Fuck your mums net

My mum does have a net, and she keeps squirrels in it. I tried to fuck the net, and now I’ve been bitten. Looks like you were right after all.

chocohoardersanonymous · 21/01/2021 17:30

I have 2 red squirrels that come to my garden. One of them is really tame and sits on the balcony or windowsill until I go out with some food. She even eats hazelnuts out of my hand Smile I'll see if I can attach some pictures

@GCAcademic

Oh come on, it's a troll, people.
No, it’s definitely a real (semi-literate) nurse who has definitely seen numerous squirrel-inflicted injuries in her time, and who is definitely not a zeitgeist vegan but is deeply committed to animal welfare, unless said animals venture within 100 yards of her.

Troll, indeed. How very dare you! Hmm

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/01/2021 17:32

The squirrels in my garden have better manners than the OP.
I have a squirrel feeder but the little blighters still try to get onto the bird feeders to get the fat balls. So I got them their own fat block. I am a completely soft touch.
We have an amusing competition where I try inventive ways to stop them getting to the bird feeders and they work out a way around them ad infinitum
They haven’t bitten anyone but they did filch some of my strawberries before I could pick them.

StuffYouAllInTheCrust · 21/01/2021 17:34

A vegan killing animals Shock OP you are truly ridiculous (and cruel) And to think, all this time it’s been vicious squirrel attack victims filling our hospital beds... Hmm

I have a hazel tree in my garden. Every year, without fail, the squirrels get the nuts before I have a chance to.

Fuck you squirrels, you bike individuals!

chocohoardersanonymous

aww she beautiful.

We have squirrels, they tap on the window for attention when they are hungry. Although they haven't in last couple of years as I put nuts and sunflower hearts out for them. it also means they leave the bird table alone so the birds are happy too.

luckily don't have any neighbours so no one to upset by feeding them.

AlwaysLatte · 21/01/2021 17:42

Silliest post of the day. Your pest control officer might end up killing them and then they may very well end up dead on your windowsill.

Thisseatisnotavailable · 21/01/2021 17:44

You may be plant based, but you're not actually a vegan. Just so you know.

We had baby squirrels living in our tree, last summer. We left food out for them after a bird killed their mother.

MsRinky · 21/01/2021 17:47

But surely you'd want to display the dead bodies, as a warning to others? Heads on pikes, you could use that bit of gravel with the solar lights in.

Now you need a compassionate nurse with experience in Squirrel Attacks.
Akrotiri1 · 21/01/2021 17:49

What a weird reaction from a vegan?!!!

We have a squirrel feeding station outside the kitchen window so I can watch their antics, they are very entertaining.....

Bailegangaire · 21/01/2021 17:54

@FredaFox

So I’m staying at my mums, semi rural, for the past week I’ve had noise above me in the loft keeping me awake at night, suspicion is squirrel, squirrels cause untold damage if they get in your property, two houses in the street have had them in the past, they chew everything and leave a real mess Pest control have left squirrel and rat traps as there are no droppings to determine who is keeping me awake at night. Next door have a huge feeding station so it’s food on tap and they are coming here to sleep and play 😡 It’s illegal to release grey squirrels back into the wild and they have to be killed humanely Please don’t think they are cute and encourage them to your homes, they are vermin
No one's suggesting the OP offers them bed and board. I quite agree that they're pests -- we had them moving into the attic for the winter two years in a row in a house in a wood I once lived in, shredding the insulation and galloping up and down like bloody great racehorses half the night and had to get a pest control to come, more because of the noise than anything else.

But these squirrels paid one visit to the OP's balcony and the glimpse made her all apocalyptic about squirrel biting?

Peace43 · 21/01/2021 18:00

Poor squirrel! Mine come and raid the bird feeder. Costs me a fortune in bird food

Nodancingshoes · 21/01/2021 18:03

We have a pair of squirrels living in the tree in our garden. I love watching them although they dig holes in the garden...what's the problem? Weve given ours names and everything!!

Summersun2020 · 21/01/2021 18:27

@Throughhistory of course she’s not a nurse...not with spelling like that

MyChemicalMummy · 21/01/2021 18:30

@contrmary

Seeing the squirrel dead might help you combat your veganism, it will show that life is fleeting and that even as a vegan you still justify killing in certain circumstances. If you are willing to kill squirrels by proxy, why not eat other animals that have been killed on your behalf?

Good luck with your journey in escaping veganism.

You put exactly what I was thinking! If you're a Vegan why do you want the squirrel dead?
BiteyShark · 21/01/2021 18:34

Gosh what an odd thread.

We have lots of squirrels in the garden which send my dog potty but apart from burying their nuts in my garden and trying desperately to get into the squirrel proof bird feeders they pose no harm.
