I'm 40.
I've just realised that I was born bang on, to the date, 9 months after my grandmas 50th birthday.
She had a huge party, I've seen the photos.
I was born on my due date.
My parents had a good time didn't they?
Baaaaaaahhhhhhh. Can never look at those photos again.

According to the ONS the end of September is the busiest time for births
So Christmas and new year are fun for some people ...

True. September is a big birth month. Just seems odd (to me) as it suggests that people only shag on a special occasion like Christmas/NYE!

Although, it could be that people are a bit more 'careless' or 'carefree' on a special occasion! (Coz they're a bit pissed!) Grin

My sister and I were both born in December, six days apart (both a little early).

After she was born my parents swore they'd never take a week off together in March to use up annual leave before the new financial year ever again.

OwlLovesTea · 19/01/2021 17:32

haha! that's funny. it was the using up holiday that got them pregnant.

Forgot the contraceptives at home? Like a certain well known couple?

Call me old fashioned but I have never had the slightest interest in my parents' sex life Confused Surely there are loads of factors that influence conception - fertility, time of ovulation etc. For all any of you know, your parents might have been at it like rabbits all day every day.....

Royalbloo · 19/01/2021 18:14

Allllll the November bdays are Valentine's Day!

Or in my parents' and my case, like Easter Bunnies.Grin

24th September for me. Early Christmas present between DF and DM....

LunaNorth · 19/01/2021 18:18

My dad’s factory shut down for two weeks at Christmas and two weeks in August.

They had four kids - two born in May, two should have been born in October (my brother was five weeks premature).

I was conceived after my mum got (by her own admission) ‘very drunk’ at my cousin’s christening. She was similarly drunk when she told me this.

DramaAlpaca · 19/01/2021 18:28

My birthday is nine months after my father's.

DH's parents were both teachers. We worked out once that he and all his siblings were conceived during school holidays. Good for them, we said Grin

My DS was a conceived over Christmas baby. I'll let him work that one out for himself.

ProfessionalWeirdo · 19/01/2021 18:40

It wasn't until I was pregnant with my first that I discovered how the "due date" is calculated, and I was very surprised to find that it isn't from the night in question. It's 40 weeks from the first day of your last period - which means that technically you can be classed as pregnant before you've actually conceived. Weird or what?

BikeRunSki · 19/01/2021 18:44

I once shared a flat with a very straight laced (but slightly dim) girl who realised that she was born 7 months after her parents got married. She had naively thought it was 1 yr 7months until her parents had a silver wedding party.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 19/01/2021 18:47

My Birthday is 14th November...Confused

ColdemortReturns · 19/01/2021 18:48

I have the opposite of the born 6 months after marriage stories....
Whilst researching family history, it was discovered my great-gran (very devout methodist) was born 11 months after her 'father' was killed in WW1. Apparently a little more common then than people think...

We had a family wedding with lots of cousins together. 3 of us had babies the same week 9 months later

SpikeDearheart · 19/01/2021 19:38

DS1 was conceived the morning after my DM's 60th birthday do - I know this because DH was working away at the time but made a special effort to come back for the party! I'm hoping DM hasn't put two and two together, though I think she'd say her first grandchild is a pretty good birthday present Grin

maddening · 19/01/2021 19:42

I was born exactly 9 months from my dps honeymoon in the Lake District 😁

Lepetitpiggy · 19/01/2021 19:45

DD2 was definitely conceived on ds 5th birthday as the little shit had refused to sleep in his own bed for much of his life. That night he was so exhausted from his party, we managed to get a night together. Now they are 15 and 20 he regularly bemoans the fact that we gave him such a great party grin

Lepetitpiggy · 19/01/2021 19:46

oops I mean Grin

BlueGreenDreams · 19/01/2021 19:48

Not that strange though, is it really.

Coupled up people fucking when they both have the day off for a special occasion.

LindaEllen · 19/01/2021 19:52

I was a New Year's Eve happy mistake 😂

Flipflops123 · 19/01/2021 19:53

@smoothchange

The biggest birthday month in the UK is September due to all the Christmas/ New Year festivities. Although apparently a lot of people plan it that way so their child can be in the oldest batch of their year

How have I only just realised this?
BlueGreenDreams · 19/01/2021 19:53

Also, all your parents had sex, lots of sex. If your parents are not your bio parents, they probably had even more sex trying to conceive.

Go on now, picture it.
