How have I only just realised this?

I'm 40.
I've just realised that I was born bang on, to the date, 9 months after my grandmas 50th birthday.
She had a huge party, I've seen the photos.
I was born on my due date.
My parents had a good time didn't they?
Baaaaaaahhhhhhh. Can never look at those photos again.

My Mum confirmed years later that it was their anniversary when I was conceived btw. She hated sex and only did it occasionally as a favour. Wedding anniversary = owed Dad sex in her mind then could put it out her head until the next “celebration”. Sad

MsHedgehog · 19/01/2021 11:40

I don't think that's how it works?

I'm due on 7 April. My last period was 27 June and I ovulated around 18 July. Adding 9 months to 27 June and 18 July doesn't get me to 7 April?

YouBoughtMeAWall · 19/01/2021 11:41

@jambeforeclottedcream

My Parents had fun on Valentines... I was overdue but if I'd been on time
What do you mean, if you’d been on time?
BabbleBee · 19/01/2021 11:42

I am married to a teacher. All of mine were conceived in the school holidays, not planned that way but just the way it worked out! Now I’m wondering if they’ll ever notice 🙈

IaltagDhubh · 19/01/2021 11:45

Both my DC are September birthdays. I’ve often wondered if people assume DH and I only have sex once a year, at Christmas.

Well you wouldn’t add 9 months to both dates! Confused

Period on 27 June gives a due date of 3rd of April. Your date has obviously been adjusted by 4 days due to your baby’s measurements.

BrumBoo · 19/01/2021 11:48

I hope my younger one doesn't figure out he was conceived on my birthday. One of my younger siblings is also the result of a very happy birthday as well Grin. They were not amused when they cottoned on.

Bellringer · 19/01/2021 11:49

Conceived on parents summer holiday. So what?

Floralnomad · 19/01/2021 11:50

I think late September birthdays are more likely to be parents planning on their children being the oldest in the year . We didn’t plan our first , other than saying we wanted a baby , got pregnant straightaway and had a January baby . With the second I planned for a June / July / August baby ( for practicalities of looking after our horses) and that worked .

99victoria · 19/01/2021 11:51

I remember reading somewhere that there are more babies born in May and September than any other month which is apparently due to the fact that people have more sex at Christmas/New Year and when they are on their summer holidays.

I'm a May baby myself, as is my daughter and my grand-daughter :)

Jenasaurus · 19/01/2021 11:52

I had a conversation with my adult DS recently he told me that he and his GF are TTC and he asked me at what moment I knew I was pregnant wth him, and I replied. "I said to your dad on Christmas day, at just after midnight, "if we do it, I will be pregnant", we did and I was....so he basically got the answer he didnt expect, he arrived a week early on 11th Sept but was conceived on Christmas day.

MrsMoastyToasty · 19/01/2021 11:53

@MrsMoastyToasty

I was born 40 weeks after New Year's Eve.
I was 2 weeks late.story of my life
Jenasaurus · 19/01/2021 11:53

My friends children are all born in January 2 years apart, the first one was conceived on their honeymoon and then the others on their wedding anniversary :)

Fuss · 19/01/2021 11:55

When I had DS the midwife said the wards were almost twice as busy as usual over that fortnight as our local team had won a trophy 9 months before.
Fair to say there were a lot of babies given names associated with the team on the ward I was on 😂

MsHedgehog · 19/01/2021 11:55

@YouBoughtMeAWall

I know you don't add to both dates (obviously...). My point was neither date gets me to 7 April...

But even if you add 40 weeks rather than 9 months, it still doesn't work for OP's situation. That would mean her mum had her period on her grandmother's birthday, rather than DTD.

iklboo · 19/01/2021 11:56

Using that calculator thingy DS was very likely conceived on Valentines Day.

CleverCatty · 19/01/2021 11:56

@lidoshuffle

Loads of people I work with have September birthdays; obviously one too many port and lemons over Christmas/New Year!
ha that's me and my DB then - both early and later September birthdays - DB was actually induced as he was late so his birthday is actually really 20th rather than 26th September.

I'm pleased DM and DF had a good Christmas/New Year when we were conceived!

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/01/2021 11:58

OP, up until now your subconscious was protecting you. Now you are destined to count back from everyone's birthday and imagine their parents having sex.

Enjoy.GrinGrinGrin

BarbaraofSeville · 19/01/2021 11:59

A few years ago when a colleague retired, it was mentioned in the summary of his life, sending off speech, that he was a 'victory baby'.

Despite being obviously aware of the baby boomers, I had not heard that term before.

Me and my siblings are linked to conceptions around Christmas, my Dad's birthday and optimism following the winter of discontent.

DP and his three siblings all have birthdays within less than a fortnight of each other. MILs explanation was that they lived with her parents early in their marriage who went away during the same week every year and that was the only time they had the house to themselves (except for an increasing number of LOs obviously).

downwithallthesenamechanges · 19/01/2021 12:01

My dd was conceived on my 22nd birthday. We were on holiday and it was the only time we dtd as a few days later I started what I thought was my period but must have been implantation bleeding.

My dp told our friends who's holiday home we'd been staying at that she was conceived there. I've never lived it down BlushGrin

ChickenyChick · 19/01/2021 12:03

Haha

I was born exactly 9 months after my parents' honeymoon in Paris

I was given a very French name Hmm though we have no connection with France as a family

This only clicked when I was a mum myself Grin

MerryDecembermas · 19/01/2021 12:04

Length of pregnancy isn't always exactly 40 weeks!

I had a 46 week pregnancy with DC2, if you go by date of last period.

YANBU OP

unmarkedbythat · 19/01/2021 12:05

DS1 was born 9 months after my wedding. People go, ahhhhh. honeymoon baby. He wasn't. I was already pregnant when we got married and he was 15 days late anyway :)

YouBoughtMeAWall · 19/01/2021 12:07

MILs explanation was that they lived with her parents early in their marriage who went away during the same week every year and that was the only time they had the house to themselves

So they only had sex once a year??

YouBoughtMeAWall · 19/01/2021 12:08

I had a 46 week pregnancy with DC2, if you go by date of last period.

Very doubtful. More than likely you just ovulated much later and pregnancy was at most 42 weeks.
