Hand hold please - on train trying to rush to London to get to my dad before he dies

Dad had a heart attack on Friday night, heart was not beating on and off for 2 and a half hours :( he had surgery but brain damage is bad and meds are no longer keeping him alive. Because of covid and having 3 kids I wasn't sure I'd be able to get to see him. I'm now on my way hoping I make it in time, we're weren't allowed in the hospital until we had the call. I just wish I'd come earlier but I don't drive and knew I'd be frozen just waiting outside. Also was told it could be hours days or weeks. I'm so angry at myself and just hope I make it in time. He was only 66 and healthy. Hand hold please lovely mumneters this train really isn't moving fast enough

I'm so sorry for your loss @africanantelope but to be there at the end is a blessing. I lost my dad 6 years ago due to complications of COPD and I was there as they removed the ventilator knowing he couldn't breath without it.I talked to him about all the memories I had of him, about all the wonderful things we'd done together over the years, and how much my DC and I loved him. It's not a moment I'll ever forget.

Late to this, OP, and am so glad you made it in time. Your dad would have been comforted and reassured by your presence as he prepared to pass. Here''s hoping you have people IRL who can support you now.

@Checkthemeaning My condolences to you, too. We know our parents will go one day, but it's still so incredibly tough. I'm still mourning my DF after three years.
