Hand hold please - on train trying to rush to London to get to my dad before he dies

Dad had a heart attack on Friday night, heart was not beating on and off for 2 and a half hours :( he had surgery but brain damage is bad and meds are no longer keeping him alive. Because of covid and having 3 kids I wasn't sure I'd be able to get to see him. I'm now on my way hoping I make it in time, we're weren't allowed in the hospital until we had the call. I just wish I'd come earlier but I don't drive and knew I'd be frozen just waiting outside. Also was told it could be hours days or weeks. I'm so angry at myself and just hope I make it in time. He was only 66 and healthy. Hand hold please lovely mumneters this train really isn't moving fast enough Blush

Oh I remember making the journey after getting a similar call. I don't remember driving to the hospital but I do remember getting the call in a Sainsburys with a trolly full of food. I hope you made it OP.

For those who have made this journey and been there. And for those who have made this journey and were there in heart and mind.

I wish you all peace Flowers

To the posters who have said about people waiting until their loved ones are out of the room. My Aunt did this. Her and my DM were so so close. My mother left the room and her breathing changed dramatically but she came straight back in that time. The second time she left the room she passed away with me holding her hand. She didn’t want my DM to be there. Her final big sisterly duty, protecting my mum. Please don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t made it OP. Lots of love.

Yes to this. My Grandad passed away recently while my Mum and myself were there. He had hung on most of the day while my Nan had been there and passed about an hour after she left because she was absolutely exhausted and had said her goodbyes. I think he waited for her to go so that he could pass, knowing that seeing it would break her.

Wow, thank you all so much. I am overwhelmed by all the messages. I've read them all and they have given me such strength. I made it! I had a whole hour with him, I held his hand and talked to him about everything and anything. He has passed now and I will be eternally grateful that I got to be there as posters have said more for myself then for anything else. And for the fact that he was covid free, I know there are so many people in similar positions who are not allowed to be with their loved ones at all Sad
To all the posters who have been in the same position I'm sending ThanksThanks and to the poster who lost her dad yesterday I'm so sorry and sending love to you and yours. All of you took the time to post and that means such a lot to me, the internet can be such a powerful and loving place.
It's been such an emotional weekend of shock and hope but I feel I'm not in limbo anymore and hopefully can get some rest tonight.
♥️
