To want Dolly Parton come round for tea

I watched a programme about her last night and she was so charming.
It would just make for a really jolly afternoon.

I can’t think of anyone who would be better company, can you?

She has a sister called Willadene!

Given her charity work the only honour she has been given by the US Government is the National Medal of Arts for excellence in the arts.

If she was in tbe UK she would be Baroness Dolly of Pigeon Forge. In fact the Queen really ought to get onto that for her work in the Imagination Library which launched in the UK.

Former President Barack Obama said that it was a "screwup" of his administration that Dolly Parton was never awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor.

During an interviewwith "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert that aired on Monday, Obama was taken aback when he found out that Parton hasn't received the distinguished award.

"That's a mistake," Obama said. "I'm shocked."

"Looking back at your eight years, do you realize that's the mistake you made?" Colbert asked
Actually, that was a screwup," Obama replied. "I'm surprised. I think I assumed that she had already gotten one, and that was incorrect."

He added: "She deserves one. I'll call Biden."

Oh that would be lovely if she could get that. She absolutely deserves it.

My favourite Dolly fact is that the reason she's 'only' a millionaire, rather than a billionaire, is that she gives so much of her money away.

My New Year Resolution is to be more like Dolly. I read in a recent article that she sleeps easy at night after trying to see the best in everyone. I’ve been trying to channel Dolly but find it difficult to be as gracious, kind and good as her. Channel Dolly is my mantra for the year. Fab that you all adore her too - she deserves it!

Love Dolly. I loved the Coat of many colors TV movies about her childhood. There were 2 films, but they're quite difficult to find now. I hope that they put them on Netflix.

I listened to her autobiography audiobook a few years ago, and I'm not sure if it was written in the 90s? But she had some quite extreme diet ideas. She said that she would carry around a big paper cup, chew the food she craved and then spat it out into the cup instead of swallowing it. Sounds like an eating disorder. She then said "That might sound disgusting, but what's more disgusting... Spitting food in a cup or being a lard ass?"
