I must admit that I like the look of their jackets but for this reason and because the company also uses real fur I will never be buying one.

Kiki275 · 16/01/2021 12:35

I don't own a CG jacket (couldn't afford one to be fair) but then I also won't cook my roast potatoes in goose fat from the EU. In my head, it's likely a by-product of the foie gras industry. I could very well be wrong but I'd rather not chance it and use British duck fat instead. I'm not averse to buying animal products but I do try, where possible, to buy local/British x

MilkshakeandFries · 16/01/2021 12:38

Thanks for sharing, I also was not aware of this.

cushioncovers · 16/01/2021 12:39

I'm already aware of the cruelty involved but I don't buy any product with feathers, fur or leather anyway. Thanks for highlighting op.

minipie · 16/01/2021 12:41

Canada Goose uses real fur so I imagine nobody who cares about animal welfare would be buying them anyway OP

OytheBumbler · 16/01/2021 12:42

There used to be a great book called 'The good shopping guide' that helped you make ethical choices in shopping but I've not seen an updated copy in years.

ginghamstarfish · 16/01/2021 12:45

Someone mentioned cashmere, don't forget angora too - horrendous.

recklessruby · 16/01/2021 12:46

Thank you for raising awareness. That's very sad and upsetting. I dont think there should be a market for coats like that anyway, who gives humans the right to use animals as fashion when there are so many fake alternatives?
(And no I dont eat animal products and am quite happy with my faux fur jacket).

CarpeVitam · 16/01/2021 12:58

That's shocking OP and not something I was aware of, so it's a 'thank you' from me.
