Video of the terrible cruelty inflicted upon the geese:

OP posts:

@ShirleyPhallus

What a weird thread. So many people posting arsehole comments to the OP for mentioning something to do with animal cruelty.

Really bizarre

I agree!
Lockheart · 16/01/2021 10:18

@AlternativePerspective

Mn needs an activism section for this kind of thread.

Posting a thread in AIBU “so it will be seen by more people” is tedious now. Fact is that AIBU is now so overloaded with posts which have nothing to do with the topic that most of them probably disappear anyway. In fact if AIBU didn’t overcrowd the boards so much topics such as activism and petitions and so on would be more widely seen.

They have one, it's called Petitions and Activism.
Chocomel · 16/01/2021 10:18

The thread is definitely an argument for - if you can't say anything nice, or if it isn't for you.... just move on.

I wonder about the people that take the time to comment negatively, or be mean to an OP, when really they could have just closed the post and moved on. Slow day at home maybe?

Nousernamesleftatall · 16/01/2021 10:21

They’re an expensive purchase and the type of thing you know a bit about before buying one

I have only become aware of the brand in the last year or two. I can afford their prices. I was not aware of the cruelty aspect. I generally do not research luxury brands before buying.

sillyrubberduck · 16/01/2021 10:21

Thank you for raising awareness OP. I was aware, read it somewhere else but so many people are not aware. I would never buy their products.

goose1964 · 16/01/2021 10:21

Have you seen what is done to sheep in the production of wool, especially merino?

Nancylovesthecock · 16/01/2021 10:23

I actually don't feel anything when I think about animal cruelty.

Does that mean there's something wrong with me?

Mrgrinch · 16/01/2021 10:23

But you can't call humans cunts; either individual posters or in a group like ethnicity or religion (except Catholics, go to town on Catholics- they are allowed).

As a Catholic, I'm highly offended and I'm sick of people on here constantly thinking it's okay to talk to us like that.

donquixotedelamancha · 16/01/2021 10:24

This thread is enough of a bunfight. Do we really need to start laying into the Welsh?

Nancylovesthecock · 16/01/2021 10:25

Gosh, just looked it up and it seems I might me a cyclepath.

God I hate these "be nice" bullshit especially when addressing a mainly female public.

No, we don't have to be NICE all the day, it's ok to have an opinion, it's ok to disagree and express yourself, it's also OK to be faced with someone with a different opinion and someone who unpleasantly disagree with you.

I believe you, I remember a poster saying they had a post deleted for calling themselves a cunt Grin

Yet it clearly is accepted in a way pretty much no other group would be.

Anyway, geese.......

Eh yes.
NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 16/01/2021 10:31

I thought everyone knew how awful Canada Goose was - it became a brand of shame quite a few years ago if I recall correctly.

Nope. I live in an extremely affluent area and I would say 30-40% of the adults are in CG parkas.

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 16/01/2021 10:31

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze

Just saw your last post being deleted, WHO did you piss on in MN HQ?
😂

potential to be a serial killer perhaps

Could be worse, you might feel arousal.

Chocomel · 16/01/2021 10:35

@Iknowwhatudidlastsummer I agree with you. My point was - why bother posting in order just to insult the OP or to be mean. Life would be boring if we all agreed.

The topic is horrible - obviously no one is going to make nice comments about geese being stripped of their down.

I don't think being nice is a feminist issue, but I respect your standpoint.

ShirleyPhallus · 16/01/2021 10:35

Honestly mumsnet gets weirder. People openly come to this site to get their aggressions out and have a fight. Why the need to be so unpleasant about it? Weird weird

Chocomel · 16/01/2021 10:41

@ShirleyPhallus yes. Why not just disagree, rather than unpleasantly disagree?

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 16/01/2021 10:43

ShirleyPhallus
I am on MN to have a laugh! It's ok to have a different opinion without having " a fight" you know Grin
If you are that sensitive, MN might not be the best place for you, and certainly not AIBU

DumplingsAndStew · 16/01/2021 10:43

@Iwonder08

It is also very hard not to notice a persistent group of protesters on Regents Street.

Sorry, I looked out my window but can't see Regents Street from where I live, in Scotland Hmm

countrygirl99 · 16/01/2021 10:44

@Iwonder08

OP, CG jackets cost £££, people who buy them are aware of the fact it comes from geese, it is not difficult to imagine the geese don't enjoy the process. It is also very hard not to notice a persistent group of protesters on Regents Street. I would suggest you go back to your box with your patronising post. It is just tiresome so many people suddenly feel the need to preach. It is not your job 'to raise awareness', it has been done many times before you. Find other ways to make yourself better, maybe go and report a couple of neighbours for having an unschedule walk in a park
Most of the population haven't been on Regent Street in years so quite easy not to notice the protestors actually. If you find the topic so tiresome why did you open it, it's not compulsory. Perhaps ou should be the one to make yourself better instead of being so preachy.
