Some of my neighbours still have wreaths on their doors. Surely their decorations should come down now?

Any of you still got yours up?

Our street have decided to keep all fairy lights up until lockdown is over.
So the street is all lit up.

green every single bloody year I think ‘is it the 5th or the 6th?’ And google. And every single bloody year I read ‘Some say 5th and some say 6th’
In fact I think I
Might just write that now in this years calendar late December to save myself doing it yet again. Not joking . . . Where’s my pen. . .

RosamundePilcher · 13/01/2021 20:57

We still have Xmas tree up, Xmas wreath too.
And what.
I don't care what others think about that.

Norwayreally · 13/01/2021 21:10

I wanted to keep our wreath up all year. It isn’t an overly Christmassy one and I like the way it looks. DH said it was weird and took it down, sad.

Plussizejumpsuit · 13/01/2021 21:20

I've still got my wreath up. My grandad makes them and it still looks lovely. But it's all natural so not massively Christmassy. Although obviously wreaths are associated with Christmas. I'll just keep it up till it looks dead.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 13/01/2021 22:45

Mine only came down Sunday. Missing them a bit really. Big fan of fairy lights for a little bit of subtle lighting.

Though having said that it doesn't feel like Christmas even happened this year purely because of no build up/usual traditions.

Not a fan of summer/heat due to a health problem so definitely happy to stay in winter (unpopular opinion I know) and have cosy lighting.

AJ1425 · 13/01/2021 23:13

I dont like mine up for too much past new year, I struggle with the return to normality after Christmas so wouldn't want the decorations hanging round too long after. We usually take them down a day or two after new year.

I dont really enjoy seeing other peoples still up in January but if it makes them happy, it doesn't really matter what I think.

Labobo · 13/01/2021 23:44

All the Christmas lights and trees are still up in our village. There's a committee who usually take them down on 12th Night but we were into lockdown by then. Feels a bit weird wandering around half way through Jan with all the decorations still up, but they are pretty.

caringcarer · 13/01/2021 23:57

Least of worries in current conditions.

warmeduppizza · 14/01/2021 00:03

Er, no. They go up on Christmas Eve and come down at Candlemas as per the liturgical calendar.

Dontrainonmyparade · 14/01/2021 00:15

My wreath is on the door, I like it lots so it’s staying until Candlemas. No longer, in case of goblins.

VetiverAndLavender · 14/01/2021 03:55

Indoor things are still up, and we don't bother with outdoor decor, since we live so far off the road that few would see them.

I'm ready to be rid of the tree, but don't look forward to the extra work of taking it down...
