Just that really. I neither like nor dislike him I don't feel any emotion towards him.
AIBU to ask why so many people on here hate/dislike Boris Johnson?

@itsgettingweird

I'd say because he's a racist, misogynistic, lying, egotistical twat.

But I think by now you've got that Grin.

I actually didn't mind him before the pandemic. I could tolerate him. But his spineless acts during this and inability to have any empathy with the nation has made he dislike him.

See I don't understand how anyone could say they quite liked him at all...some of Boris most famous moments!

Calling women who wear burkas letter boxes

Calling all women "naturally fickle"

Comparing same sex marriage to "bestiality"

Telling people if they vote Tory their wife's will get bigger Breasts and increase their chances of driving a bmw

The man is an utter utter pig and always has been there's never been an ok Boris. He got in due to Brexit and that's the only reason

ginandbearit · 08/01/2021 18:52

And another thing ..if he'd been a sort of Minister for Fun and Shagging he would genuinely been an asset in keeping morale up during these difficult times while the grown ups got on with things , but he's stuck in an adolescent mind set and simply cant del with adult responsibility ..we're fucked

1nside0ut · 08/01/2021 18:59

His lies over Brexit to further his political career.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/01/2021 19:04

@OhWhyNot

I don’t think it’s hard to understand why so many people strongly dislike someone who has always put their own ambition over anything else

But MN tends to lean to the left and is certainly not representative of the population

My mother is a Conservative voter and he's totally lost her respect and support. She's emailed her MP to tell him that BoZo must go.

It's not just left-leaning people who've had enough of him!

VinylDetective · 08/01/2021 19:14

@RandomLondoner

It turns out Yougov.co.uk has popularity ratings for politicians. Looking only at those who've been Prime Minister in my time, they are:-

40% Boris Johnson
38% Margaret Thatcher
29% Theresa May
28% Gordon Brown
24% John Major
22% Tony Blair

So Boris is in fact the most popular out of all the Prime Ministers we've had in the last 40 years. Probably shows you shouldn't based you opinions on what you read on social media.

I’d suggest the reason for his popularity is because so many people base their opinions on what they read on social media. The comparison is invalid anyway as Thatcher, Major, Blair and Brown pre-dated social media.
jasjas1973 · 08/01/2021 19:15

But MN tends to lean to the left and is certainly not representative of the population

Johnson has a quite a low approval rating.

How folk can prefer Shagger BoJo to a former director of public prosecutions is beyond me but does explain why we have a Govt that has put up barriers to free trade & has led us to 80k CV deaths.

Whoopsmahoot · 08/01/2021 19:23

Incompetent and scared of upsetting people, try’s to keep everyone happy and doesn’t take a firm stance. Says it all with the new stain coming from South Africa which has a different surface structure to the current stains. (Therefore current vaccines may not be as effective. What does he do ? Let’s stop flights from S African - in 5 days time! Too bloody late!, Let’s not upset anyone coming into the country 🙄

UrAWizHarry · 08/01/2021 19:28

@rwalker

Because by blaming him people can resolve themselves of any responsibility for there part in the pandemic . Hand on heart I don't known ANYONE who hasn't bent or broken the rules to some extent . But when thing start going wrong it's everyone else fault (mainly Boris's) but there's
Utter bollocks.

Ultimately the buck stops with Boris, and unfortunately for the uk he is a stupid, useless bastard and has appointed a cabinet of twats.

Splann · 08/01/2021 19:28

There are many things I hate Boris for but my top one is his blatant, barefaced lies. It’s a constant spout of lies or half truths every time he opens his mouth. I find it incredible that people still like and support him when nothing he says or does is honest. It flags up the morals of his supporters - if you admire a liar and a cheat then that speaks volumes about you.

itsgettingweird · 08/01/2021 19:29

Allis I never went as far as to say I quite liked him. I said I could tolerate him.

Slight difference 🤣

Of course, Eat out to help out, relaxing restrictions too quickly, pushing for 5 days of christmas, allowing all uni students to go back in september, kids back in school, shaking hands of patients, cheltenham, footie and rugby matches, care homes... all our fucking fault... NOT!

9 April 2020 -

Coronavirus: Greater Manchester Police warning after 660 parties shut down.

There were 1,132 coronavirus-related breaches reported between 25 March and 7 April, the force said.

That included 494 house parties - some with DJs, fireworks and bouncy castles - and 166 street parties.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said such behaviour was "completely unacceptable".

VestaTilley · 08/01/2021 19:45

I can’t believe you need to ask. Where have you been? Over 1300 people died from Covid today - the Government’s handling of the pandemic has been atrocious.

As a person he is also adulterous, a liar, deceitful and will say whatever he needs to to win power. He no more believed in Brexit than a Remain voter, but he led that campaign so he could become Tory leader. He’s got multiple illegitimate children conceived while he was married, several of whom are (allegedly) unsupported by him. He actually has few political convictions, he just wants power. And he looks like a walking haystack.

I genuinely can’t believe anyone needs to ask your question, OP. YABVU.

of course it's the individuals fault if they can't think for themselves and take stupid risks. noone is saying they have to go out, act like idiots and people moan about the nanny state. so many people act like over grown kids pouting and stropping over the smallest of things, it's pathetic.
TheBuffster · 08/01/2021 19:51

Are you suggesting everyone's having parties?
You only have to look at MN threads to see most people are isolated (and feeling the effects).
Of course one could argue that if he hadn't let his mate Cummings off, the whole country wouldn't have been granted a huge whataboutery to justify breaking the rules.
One could also argue that if he enacted a stricter lockdown in the first place, people would feel more uneasy about breaking the rules.
One could even argue that if you are the leader of the country and you want people to follow the rules, you should set an example and not go about shaking hands with Covid patients and encouraging massive festivals.
But one suspects that will go over your head of course.

jasjas1973 · 08/01/2021 19:59

The govt encouraged ALL of things i mentioned, inc going on hols, both within the UK and abroad..... so it certainly wasn't portrayed as a "stupid risk"

Govt cannot take the praise when things go right but then blame the plebs when things go wrong.

They lead (or should) and they set the tone, the moment they excuse rule & guideline breaking within their ranks, they allow everyone to say "i was following my instincts" and i don't just mean Cummings but all those ministers who went abroad, swapped their london 1st homes for their hereford 2nd homes, Schapps who went to Spain, Johnson who went to Scotland.

Clavinova · 08/01/2021 20:00

Maybe also remember that the UK allowed travel from abroad throughout lockdown, with little to no checks, tests or quarantine.

Even now wealthy UK citizens are partying in Dubai, Skiing in the alps.

Not supporting essential workers who may have CV symptoms but who don't test, carrying on at work because they, unlike MC MNetters, cannot afford to isolate.

VinylDetective · 08/01/2021 20:08

Not only encouraged eating out but subsidised it with borrowed money, it’s like taking all your mates out to dinner on someone else’s credit card.

frumpety · 08/01/2021 20:08

I don't hate Boris.

I just think he is a bit of a lazy twat, with an above average vocabularly.

Blacktothepink · 08/01/2021 20:10

He’s a pathetic excuse of a human being

Clavinova · 08/01/2021 20:12

Govt cannot take the praise when things go right but then blame the plebs when things go wrong.

So it must be Angela Merkel's fault that Covid deaths in Germany have jumped from 9,000 deaths in October to 39,000 deaths today?

hulahooper2 · 08/01/2021 20:14

You really need to ask !!

amymel2016 · 08/01/2021 20:15

I genuinely believe most politicians are in politics to make certain sections of society lives better (expect possibly the entire current cabinet...) but I 100% believe Boris is in it for him and him only. He wanted to be PM for the kudos and doesn’t give a toss about people.
