Just that really. I neither like nor dislike him I don't feel any emotion towards him.
AIBU to ask why so many people on here hate/dislike Boris Johnson?

@TwilightToStarlight

I hate the current government because of their handling of the pandemic.

I was very against Brexit, but that's why people voted him in, so I can't hate the PM for that. I hate David Cameron for being so arrogant as to offer the referendum in the first place and to ignore suggestions to make it a referendum which couldn't be decided on just a few percent majority vote.

It's like that line in the Batman movie; The Joker is just the mad dog, you were the one who let him out of his cage, (or words to that effect). I think boris is the mad dog...or maybe Brexit Britain is the mad dog. Confused by my own analogy but whatever Grin.

exactly this
Bluewavescrashing · 08/01/2021 20:19

He has no sense of reality for normal working people in the UK.

He is reactive, not proactive in making decisions.

He blusters and evades questions which expose his incompetence

He has no sense of a long term plan to manage the pandemic

He regularly gives contracts to his mates who are just as incompetent eg track and trace

He claims the above are world beating

He denies decent pay to nurses despite being saved by them during his own illness with covid

He ridicules single mothers whilst fathering many offspring with various different women

He rocks up 2 hours late to press conferences and delays the Bake Off, a much needed glimmer of normality, keeping the public waiting

He sent 3 million children back to school on Monday to mix then decided schools are unsafe that evening, giving schools no time to plan and deliver remote learning

He has not given Gavin Williamson his p45

Doesabear · 08/01/2021 20:19

@CaptainSandy

Trump lover, incompetent, lazy, corrupt, gave public money to the mistress he was shagging while his then-wife was having cancer treatment, only pro-Brexit as it was expedient to his career, has made some horrendously racist and homophobic statements, has been fired from two jobs for lying, has got us a Brexit "deal" that is going to shrink the economy and hamstring business, has presided over a world-beating covid death rate.... should I go on? Oh yes, and no-one's quite sure how many children he actually has, least of all him, he certainly doesn't acknowledge all of them.
This. Couldn't have put it better.
Perfect28 · 08/01/2021 20:22

@blueangel19 www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/

I mean you could have found that yourself but you know.

StillWeRise · 08/01/2021 20:22

actually, although I voted to remain too and think DC bears massive responsibility for this shambles (and where is HE now, in France with his trotters up) I do think Johnson is to blame for the fact that the actual negotiating of the deal was so badly handled, the EU would surely have gladly shelved everything during the pandemic, but no, we had to follow the timetable and have yet to see what chaos there will be- so yes, I blame him for that too.

jasjas1973 · 08/01/2021 20:22

@Clavinova

Govt cannot take the praise when things go right but then blame the plebs when things go wrong.

So it must be Angela Merkel's fault that Covid deaths in Germany have jumped from 9,000 deaths in October to 39,000 deaths today?

Uh ? Germany's total deaths since the pandemic began is 39k...... the UK's is 80k, yes 80,000 in a significantly smaller population.

UKs total deaths in October was 43k, now yes i have to say it again... 80,000.

Try again Clav.

tilder · 08/01/2021 20:23

@AlexaShutUp

How on earth did he get to be prime minister then??

Because people did not care enough to research what they were voting for.

Because the alternative was Corbyn.
rwalker · 08/01/2021 20:25

@UrAWizHarry

Ultimately the buck stops with Boris, and unfortunately for the uk he is a stupid, useless bastard and has appointed a cabinet of twats.

That is exactly what I'm on about people don't want restricts do as they place and it's Boris's fault

monday night tv full of outrage schools open
tuesday tv full of outrage schools shut
it's endless

It's boris's fault he can't tell his arse from his elbox.

Monday night "schools are perfectly safe"
Tuesday "omg shut the schools".

I honestly do not understand how anyone can look at the state of the UK and think "Yup, the conservatives are doing a fine job".

luckylavender · 08/01/2021 20:27

Because I know too much about him

ListeningQuietly · 08/01/2021 20:28

To reiterate

COVID : There was a pandemic preparedness plan
but the Tories defunded it in 2016

COVID : If Johnson had morals he'd have
NOT done "eat out to help out"
NOT allowed everybody to fly in and out without testing
NOT let Matt Hancock bung everything to his mates
NOT stood by Cummings

Brexit
If Johnson gave a shit about anybody but his rich funders he'd have opted to delay until after COVID
but he didn't

Brexit
The lies about the £350m a week for the NHS
Brexit
The lies about the frictionless borders
Brexit
Choosing to do it during a global pandemic

mbosnz · 08/01/2021 20:31

What's not to hate?

It's a shame his lack of probity, veracity, and actual fucking backbone is affecting his own family, let alone the nation. Twat.

Clavinova · 08/01/2021 20:31

jasjas1973

But Angela Merkel is responsible for almost 40,000 deaths? I don't think she is but apparently you do.

rwalker · 08/01/2021 20:35

@UrAWizHarry
Monday night "schools are perfectly safe"
Tuesday "omg shut the schools".

schools have ALWAYS been a risk but is working out the balance of keeping them open and the detrimental cost to kids of shutting them .Or they could of just shut them all last spring till this was over .
The point was people wanted them shut so they shut them and then they kick off there shut .

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 08/01/2021 20:35

He was the respectable face of Brexit which took away my European status which I’d valued my whole life.

mbosnz · 08/01/2021 20:38

I think perhaps the point is that they do not own their decisions. They vacillate. And then attempt to deflect blame for any decisions they have to reluctantly make (especially if it goes against their instincts and their interests, and those of their cronies), onto 'the people'.

You wanted to be elected to Government? You Got It. Now FUCKING GOVERN.

rwalker · 08/01/2021 20:39

I'm gutted we are leaving and think it's very short sighted but the nation voted and majority wanted to leave.
Any party in power would have to follow that through

I'm going to guess - and I'm going out on a limb here - that the people who wanted them shut and those who don't are, in fact, 2 seperate groups. Shocking, I know.

No idea why you are focusing on this though, the schools fiasco is one tiny example of the man being a useless fuckwit.

jasjas1973 · 08/01/2021 20:42

@Clavinova

jasjas1973

But Angela Merkel is responsible for almost 40,000 deaths? I don't think she is but apparently you do.

No Clav, its a pandemic of a very serious disease, no country, not even NZ, has avoided any deaths.

Do you think Merkel has handled CV better or worse than Johnson?

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 08/01/2021 20:42

Does mean I have like Johnson though which was the question!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 08/01/2021 20:43

Does NOT mean I have to like him though.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 08/01/2021 20:45

Covid has been poorly handled but it was a problem of no ones creation. Brexit is a self inflicted disaster.

Meredithgrey1 · 08/01/2021 20:45

@foodtoorder

All these reasons to dislike Boris have all been said about any prime minister. No one will ever be good enough or do a good enough job.
That’s true. I remember Theresa may being frequently criticised for not knowing how many children she had.

Agree on both counts, where we disagree perhaps, is Johnson role in Brexit & his conduct, done not because he is a principled anti european union but because he saw it as a means to no10.

Imissmoominmama · 08/01/2021 20:53

He told us all who he was when he burnt a £20 note in front of a homeless person. But somehow his bumbling public persona made people think he was an alright sort of chap... just the qualification you need to run a country 🤦‍♀️
