Just that really. I neither like nor dislike him I don't feel any emotion towards him.
AIBU to ask why so many people on here hate/dislike Boris Johnson?

Shagging on the rates. We were
Paying him to work as Mayor and he was sloping out of office to visit numerous women.

itsgettingweird · 08/01/2021 22:22

I worked with some kids from Eton one summer. The kids themselves told me just because you go to Eton it doesn't make you bright 🤣

MrsMiaWallis · 08/01/2021 22:22

I'm a year younger and was at the other place. A levels from Eton and Winchester were definitely required. Not sure what you are on about.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 08/01/2021 22:23

UK not the worst, but Boris's leadership not exactly leading us to glory.

It doesn't, but Boris Johnson got a first from Oxford, so it makes people sound a bit silly when they say he's not academic 🤣

Peregrina · 08/01/2021 22:26

He didn't get a first from Oxford. His brother did.

itsgettingweird · 08/01/2021 22:27

MrsMia there's a difference though between being academic and bright.

Boris is not very bright however academic he is Grin

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 08/01/2021 22:27

Boris Johnson got a first from Oxford, so it makes people sound a bit silly when they say he's not academic wonder how many millions he bunged their way for dodgy ppe to achieve that?

MrsMiaWallis · 08/01/2021 22:29

@Peregrina

He didn't get a first from Oxford. His brother did.
Apologies He did get a scholarship though.

It is possible to think he's an awful prime minister AND accept he is academically bright.

Clavinova · 08/01/2021 22:34

He did get a scholarship though

Yes, wiki says he won a scholarship to Eton, then another scholarship to Oxford.

OHolyTights · 08/01/2021 22:40

I don't hate him. He can be quite entertaining and amusing. I regret that he is our PM though and I am glad not to be married or similarly to him.

That's how I feel.

"Wiki" 🤣 well if wiki says it must be true!

Not denying it isnt btw but hardly the best source and you can usually drag a link up for everything Grin

Clavinova · 08/01/2021 22:44

HannibalHayes

Your link doesn't work for me but apparently Johnson said this in May 2018;

'If Trump can fix North Korea and the Iran nuclear deal then I don't see why he's any less of a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize than Obama' says Foreign Secretary.

Pixxie7 · 08/01/2021 22:56

I don’t think people hate him I think it’s more a matter of not trusting him for obvious reasons surely.

OHolyTights · 08/01/2021 23:00

Being at a party with Boris would be fun, but I wouldn't want him to drive me home. It's an analogy for him 'driving' the country really.

In terms of Eton, I certainly know of two boys there who are not terribly bright. Other factors come into play, including having a formidable Prep Headmaster pushing for you and for whatever reason. It used to be more so, including when Boris went. And so it follows on with University, employment and business - not forgetting politics. The old adage 'it's not what you know, it's who you know' springs to mind, as does the 'old boys' network'.

Labobo · 08/01/2021 23:05

He's the perfect storm of ambition, incompetence, complacency, amorality and bombast.

MrsMiaWallis · 08/01/2021 23:05

It is certainly true that he had academic scholarships to Eton and Oxford. Only on Mumsnet would that mean you couldn't possibly REALLY be academic

Labobo · 08/01/2021 23:07

Being at a party with Boris would be fun

It wouldn't. I've been at parties with Boris. He's rude, snobbish, breathtakingly self-absorbed and self-serving.

No he isn't 🤣 I don't believe you
Jojojo32 · 08/01/2021 23:11

Not read all comments, but it doesn't matter who's in charge, there will always be people for and against, was there a prime minster who ever got it right??? Who hasn't fibbed isn't wealthy? If so why are they not in charge?? Genuine questions

OHolyTights · 08/01/2021 23:12

Yes, I should have chosen my words more carefully in that analogy, Labobo!

wowfudge · 08/01/2021 23:14

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.

He's dire.

OHolyTights · 08/01/2021 23:18

I think it depends what mood he is in, who he is with and what he's had to drink, MissMia.
