Just that really. I neither like nor dislike him I don't feel any emotion towards him.
AIBU to ask why so many people on here hate/dislike Boris Johnson?

Boris is a ok person in himself I imagine, but I don’t think he is suited for the job of PM. He doesn’t come across as professional, efficient or effective.

To be honest I think all the previous PMs were shit too, both from conservatives and labour.

LagunaBubbles · 08/01/2021 23:22

I'm Scottish. Hes a complete clown. But I dont hate him because every single time he opens his mouth he strengthens the support for Scottish Independence.

SabrinaThwaite · 08/01/2021 23:22

@OHolyTights

I think it depends what mood he is in, who he is with and what he's had to drink, MissMia.
And if someone’s husband is in earshot.
OHolyTights · 08/01/2021 23:29

Apologies - MrsMia.

Or indeed his own partner, Sabrina.

AlwaysLatte · 08/01/2021 23:45

You have to look at his performance before he became PM to answer that and then some, even before his absolutely shocking handling of this pandemic.

Thedogscollar · 08/01/2021 23:53

Because he makes it so easy for us to hate him, every time he opens his stupid mouth.

TheoriginalLEM · 08/01/2021 23:58

Over 70000 avoidable deaths

Lemmeout · 08/01/2021 23:58

I don’t hate him, I don’t like him either.
He lies, is incompetent and lackluster.

Catsup · 09/01/2021 00:13

I liked his dad on I'm a celeb 😁 Personally I don't believe he's 'stupid'. But I do believe he's out of touch with the majority of the UK population, and he's never had to worry about; personal employment, paying bills, if you have to literally sit and worry about the choice between eating or heating your home? But then again there's a very high percentage of politicians who have not, and will never be in that boat. I don't think someone has to experience a first hand account of the 'life of hard knocks' to be able to empathise with those less better off. But I do feel that a position of power should come with a sense of great responsibility towards those in need.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 09/01/2021 00:19

It is possible to think he's an awful prime minister AND accept he is academically bright.

Yeah, so we've found something that Boris appears to be really really good at pretending to be an incompetent buffoon when secretly he's really bright. Who'd have thought it?

Are you for real? Is this a joke?

UrAWizHarry · 09/01/2021 00:46

@MrsMiaWallis

It is certainly true that he had academic scholarships to Eton and Oxford. Only on Mumsnet would that mean you couldn't possibly REALLY be academic
It really does. If you think you can't buy an Oxford degree whilst being thick as dogsbody then you are a bit on the naive side.
CoffeeCreamandSugar · 09/01/2021 00:56

@Notmydaughteryoubitch

Because he's a cockwombling cunt badger of the highest order.
Grin exactly this

Hi OP. You mentioned you’re interested in educating yourself about politics, I think that’s a great thing to acknowledge. You might find aspects that really interest you & then a quick read of the news on your phone when the baby naps will become the norm. Fair enough, it is often depressing but compelling too!

956806416ak · 09/01/2021 01:51

I don't hate him but I feel like I should because he's such a rotter.

See I don't think he's bright.

I think he lack emotional intelligence and the ability to read the room.

Being academic is an entirely different thing. And it's possible he is academic.

His Spads are also academic with a much better ability to address the nation too.

Agree. I never really had much interest or knowledge before this but I've learnt so much.

I've watched things like PMQs that gave me an insight into how, for some, this is more about ego and bashing down the opposition, rather than creating a better county.

Isitreally77 · 09/01/2021 07:10

@EveryDayIsADuvetDay

Because he is a self obsessed misogynistic buffoon who is neither suited/skilled to running the country, nor a suitable judge of character to delegate the stuff he is less good at to someone that could do it effectively.

And please don't ask what he is good at - I can't quite think of anything right now.

So well put.
Bookworming · 09/01/2021 07:53

I'm not sure why you're spending time on MN learning about your country's leader @skidadle! I'm sure your time could be used elsewhere more informative to learn?

And yes BJ is an arse for all the reasons listed!

MrsMiaWallis · 09/01/2021 08:06

It really does. If you think you can't buy an Oxford degree whilst being thick as dogsbody then you are a bit on the naive side

You can't "buy" a scholarship to Oxford, and if you think BJs family were rich enough to 'buy' a degree at Oxford then you are ignorant.

peak2021 · 09/01/2021 08:09

An academic can be useless at organising anything. Just as one of the men who led the mission to Mars had his mum comment on how untidy he was at home.

floradora · 09/01/2021 08:49

You can't "buy" a scholarship but you can "oil" your way in through interview. Eton "masters" can "help" you get top A level results.
On the popularity question:

floradora · 09/01/2021 08:51

He was at his most "popular" when he apparently been ill (sympathy vote), before the Cummings thumbing his nose at the plebs

Of course. I agree. My most academic child couldn't organise a p up in a brewery Grin
orangecinnamon · 09/01/2021 08:57

@Jojojo32

Not read all comments, but it doesn't matter who's in charge, there will always be people for and against, was there a prime minster who ever got it right??? Who hasn't fibbed isn't wealthy? If so why are they not in charge?? Genuine questions
You'd expect the PM to do what's best for the country overall. BJ makes /delays decision on a self-serving basis...what he thinks will keep him popular. It's getting so desperate that I would gladly see Gove in power now.

I never thought I would say that.
