Piers Morgan - "I strike when they're at their weakest - when they need something to tip them over the edge"

I've just seen a number of articles where Piers Morgan has ranted and threatened revenge against a comedian slating him on a comedy show.

Piers Morgan ranting is obviously not new - but it's his pride in his vicious, openly bullying words that have got me. Paraphrased - "I bide my time, wait till they're at their weakest, until they just need something to tip them over the edge - then I strike".

What a vile, vile man. Taking pride in his ability to 'tip someone over the edge'. Into what? Despair? Suicide? Nothing good, obviously.

AIBU to think that ITV, as an employer, should reprimand him for this?

I agree. What a pitiful man. Imagine living your life like this.

Meowchickameowmeow · 06/01/2021 09:29

He's an over inflated twunt, utterly convinced of his own importance and power. Can dish it out but can't take it, text book bully.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/01/2021 09:33

I agree he's a dick, but that style is what he got hired for isn't it?

MyGazeboisLeaking · 06/01/2021 09:57

@SleepingStandingUp

I agree he's a dick, but that style is what he got hired for isn't it?

It seems to be. Absolutely beyond me - I stopped watching when he joined.

Bullies use this tactic all the time. It's as if they have a heat-seeking radar that can pinpoint someone's greatest vulnerability instantly and with precision accuracy. Then they swoop in. One of these bastards got at me in a serious way when he targeted me for sexual harassment right on top of a very nasty miscarriage. It's like a sixth sense only abusers possess.

I have to own, though, that it's the first time I've seen one openly admit to doing it.

dancingindungarees · 06/01/2021 10:09

He's Katie Hopkins with penis power.

Godimabitch · 06/01/2021 10:10

He's just a nasty little bully and we shouldn't be giving people like that the audience we do.

Orf1abc · 06/01/2021 10:12

That's not what he said though, is it? You can't paraphrase and claim it as a quote.

Mrsjayy · 06/01/2021 10:20

I hate him with a passion but I don't like James Acaster either telling somebody to go fuck themselves on TV is quite low, but anyway back to Piers itv love him, they think roaring at 6am mon-wed is hard hitting journalism Hmm

For those who don’t want to click the link but want to know what was said, here’s a copy/paste:

Piers Morgan issues warning to James Acaster after Lorraine Kelly ‘attack’ ‘I strike back’
PIERS MORGAN has issued a warning to comedian James Acaster on today's episode of Good Morning Britain after he told Lorraine Kelly to "go f* yourself" when she branded the journalist her "hero" of 2020 on The Last Leg of the Year.

Piers Morgan brands James Acaster ‘pasty-faced weasel’
Piers Morgan, 55, has warned James Acaster, 35, that he will “strike back” in the future after the comedian took a swipe at him and his ITV co-star Lorraine Kelly, 61, during The Last Leg of the Year 2020. The presenter addressed James’ expletive-ridden jibe from the Channel 4 programme on Good Morning Britain today after he told Lorraine to "go f* yourself" when she praised her fellow journalist’s reporting of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to viewers alongside his co-host Susanna Reid, Piers quipped: “I thought a prerequisite of being a comedian is that you’re meant to be funny!

“Anyway, James Acaster, you’re on the list.”

“Which list is that?” Susanna then questioned.

Piers cheekily replied: “Oh you know which list Susanna.”

“You don’t want to be on that list by the way!” Susanna chimed.

Explaining his list further, Piers continued: “You know my list and I have infinite patience.

“I always strike back at the subjects of those kinds of attacks, the sort of random attacks that come out of nowhere, I’ve done nothing to upset these people.

“I put them on the list and then I just bide my time - sometimes it can be years, decades.”

Susanna giggled and exclaimed: “Oh my goodness, that gives me the chills!”

Piers added: “And then when they least want me to, that’s when I strike back when they’re at their weakest and they just need something to tip them over.”

In spite of Piers’ warning, Susanna admitted she finds James “quite funny” after watching some of his stand-up comedy.

She told her co-star: “I was actually watching some of his stand-up last night he is actually quite funny.”

Piers seemed less than impressed with her revelation, hitting back: “So you watched a guy swear at Lorraine Kelly…”

“That wasn’t funny,” Susanna clarified.

Piers continued sarcastically: “In fury at describing me as a hero and that made you go online to see more.

“No, no, it’s alright, I get it! “That made you want more of James Acaster did it?”

After praising James’ shows, Susanna declared: “It’s not funny to swear kids and it’s not funny to be mean.”

However, Piers refused to let her comment go, as he fumed: “But if you do watch him swear, go and watch him online and see more of it! Funny guy.”

Piers’ tirade comes after Lorraine, who appeared on the New Year’s Eve show alongside hosts Adam Hills, Alex Brooker and Josh Widdecombe, was criticised by James when she named Piers as one of her 2020 “heroes” following the government's boycott of GMB.

The 201-day government boycott of the morning programme finally ended in November.

Lorraine said when quizzed on her “heroes” for 2020: "I think... stay with me on this one. Piers Morgan."

Funnyman James then cheekily hit back: "Go f* yourself!"

Which bit have I represented inaccurately?

He does sound vile. He successfully bullied Meghan Markle out of the country. Bravo!

praepondero · 06/01/2021 10:39

And yet there are millions who watch him every time he pops up on television.
He must feel such utter contempt towards his audience, as say what you want, stupid he is not.
He knows what makes money and draws in the flies and serves it up with a spade.
As long as there are eejits who tune in to his show, he'll keep going. Palpable loathing towards his audience must make tipping his targets over the edge so much sweeter.

Samcro · 06/01/2021 10:43

PM is a vile bully. never watch him as I can't stand bullies..
how such a vile man is still on tv is beyond me.

HmmSureJan · 06/01/2021 10:44

Yeah he's an arse but James Acaster abusing and humiliating Lorraine Kelly like he did was pretty bad too and I don't even like her either.

He bullied MM out of the country did he? Grin what all by himself?

Dongdingdong · 06/01/2021 10:45

His blatant sucking up to Donald Trump was cringeworthy in the extreme.

Orlania · 06/01/2021 10:48

You really think she would leave because of him? Seriously?

SweetLoveOfCod · 06/01/2021 10:50

I think YABU for taking anything he says seriously. He’s just shit talking, it’s part of his schtick (I agree he’s a bellend).

Alexandrite · 06/01/2021 10:52

Yes he played a large part. Are you Piers?

Did he? Really? Confused
CheltenhamLady · 06/01/2021 10:55

I think he tries to get answers to questions we would all like to ask. I think he is assertive and maybe that can be seen as bullying.

However, I prefer him to an interviewer who asks no pertinent questions or to one who lets someone answer as they please rather than answering the actual question.

luckylavender · 06/01/2021 10:55

That's such tosh, whatever you think of Piers Morgan.

Orlania · 06/01/2021 10:58

Yes he played a large part. Are you Piers?

Did Meghan say Piers had bullied her out of the country?

Alexandrite · 06/01/2021 11:01

I see Piers' Daily Mail reading fan club are out in force. You were probably the ones salivating at his constant barrage of nasty MM stories and don't like to think of the effect it haf. And no it won't have been the only thing that sent her away but the way she was treated by the right wing press will have played a part.
