To really want Richard Ayoade to be the 14th Doctor (Who)?

I haven't watched since David Tennant left but Richard Ayoade as the next Doctor would certainly have me tuning in again, AIBU?

Agree they need to sort out the godawful plots and scripts first though. And I just hope they don't decide to go with a gender-fluid Doctor.

He's not an actor. Bradley Walsh is barely an actor and he was one of the many, many weak elements of these series. I gave up a while ago as it's so dull and boring.

P.S why doesn't JW get to wear an awesome stylish outfit from history? She is wearing an outfit from Mork and Mindy instead.

Get Peter Capaldi back to do it as Malcolm Tucker. May need a later time slot. Absolutely adore Richard Ayoade but would his particular quirkinesses translate to Dr Who?

I would like Jo Martin, who had a brief appearance as the Doctor last series from some unspecified point in the timeline. She had a command and sparkle that really showed up the flaws in JW’s Doctor - too nice, too much self-doubt. Almost certainly mainly the writers’ fault though. And the companion needs a bit of spark too and definitely no romantic yearning after the Doctor. We’ve been rewatching Tennant & Donna, and now onto Matt Smith and Amy, both fab pairings.

I liked her and found her far more credible than JW who has failed to convince me that she is a continuation of the character. It was good to see another woman pull it off. I agree with the concensus that the scripts and plots have been poor, and the pool of assistants.

I drifted through Matt Smith, I liked him but found the Amy Pond plots became too conveluted, not helped by the ridiculous summer break malarky. I found Peter Capaldi a natural progression and while not the calibre of Eccleston or Tennant, I found them much more watchable.

I haven't bothered catching up with the New Year special such is my current lack of enthusiasm.

Jo Martin rocked I’d love her as a future doctor but get rid of the writers please.

I’d love Peter back as Malcolm Tucker he could kick Clara right off, I’d had enough of Clara in season 9 and I loathed the ending.

As much as I LOVE Richard Ayoade, I've always wanted Paterson Joseph to play Doctor Who. I think he'd be amazing.

I recall hearing this as a rumour when the shouty man from that political comedy (brain fail on the name) got the role.

I would definitely start watching again if it was him, but Richard would also be great. Brian Cox might be good (although probably busy), not sure about Noel Fielding, might be a bit OTT.

Thinking about it the whole cast of Peep Show could be good.

Well we may see more of the Tardis as either:
a) the doctor and Yas spend time trying to avoid his, inevitable, jokes and wisecracks,
or
b) he wanders round the Tardis saying things like "What cowboy fitted this luv" and "I'll just have to see if they've got a new [part] in stock queen."

Give the Tardis to someone who deserves it ...

I don't think it's her, as such. I think the writing has been abysmal, they have wasted a good actor and made an awful doctor!

Jodie absolutely was not weird enough. I liked the idea of Phoebe Waller Bridge but she’s too famous now. Plus she would need better scripts.

I always think Zowe Ashton would be good, she’s very offbeat and quite intense.
