@Rinoachicken
I enjoyed it.
I’m more annoyed at how captain toms money has actually been used. In my trust, we all got an extra days annual leave. Neighbouring trust they all got a fancy water bottle with a superman logo saying thank you NHS.
I can think of better ways to have used the money!
I know what you mean, but I feel it's a bit of a tough one.
The tax we pay / government's contributions should be enough to cover the vitals - the provision of care, equipment, medicines, etc.
Charity efforts for the NHS should not be part of the core funding in my opinion. We should never have to rely on charity in the NHS, that's what tax is supposed to be for. As such I feel fundraising efforts for the NHS should be for extras - such as appropriate rewards for staff (e.g. your annual leave day), toys for kids in children's hospitals, better ward environments, etc. Not sure about the water bottles though...
I do agree though that this year, the NHS has needed extra money (even more than usual), and the government hasn't been very wise about what they've done with their own money (giving PPE contracts to their cronies, for example).
I appreciate that my statements are full of 'shoulds' though and don't actually reflect our reality 😔
